Introducing our new badge system!

Hello Soompiers,

Some of you have been asking about the new badge system visible on your profile! We never made a formal announcement about it because what you see is Vanilla's out-of-the-box system and we'll be working with them to develop something a little more specialized for our members. But in the meantime, we think it's worth it for you to know what the badges are and how you can earn them! Currently, you can earn badges by performing a number of different actions on our forums, such as uploading a profile picture, mentioning another person, and posting a certain number of times. You can also earn badges by receiving a number of reactions (LOL, Awesome, and Insightful) from other people, or even simply by being a member for some years. In the near future, we plan to unveil more than what you see here. What it will be, we can't say! But you can start out by catching up on the currently available badges! Thanks for your patience!

@melkimx:  Thanks for the info!

I have another question, but only somewhat related - it's about the "points system".
I mentioned this elsewhere before, but I noticed that when Soompi migrated from the old forum into this new one, all the "positive reps" earned also transferred over and apparently were simply 'dumped' into the Awesome bucket  (which made sense, since the old forum didn't have the same kind of delineation for the kinds of positive reps that this new forum offers).

However, it's apparent that the points a person accumulated and totaled are only the points that were earned since the new forum kicked off.  That is, none of the "old points" that got migrated over from the old forum are actually counting towards our "true" points totals.  For example, if I look at your profile page, @melkimx, I see that the new system credits you with 306 points (as of this writing).  However, with 18 Insightfuls + 647 Awesomes + 4 LOLs, you should actually have 669 points (which then essentially means that you had 363 "positive rep" points transferred over from the old forum).

In the end, this basically misrepresents the information on the Activity tab on the forums.

Of course, I fully understand that this is probably the least of the developer's concerns at this point.  But I'm just wondering, is it an issue that has been jotted down on the "To Do" list - or something that will even be worth addressing in their minds?

Wow Combo Breaker sounds impossible to earn... Unless you're a new member and you use this combo:
- Photogenic
- First Comment
- Name Dropper
- 10 Comments

and for the fifth one, pray that 5 people voted Insightful or Awesome or LOL. Meanwhile, go for 100 Comments in that same day, not taking a chance.
And then you will have Combo Breaker badge.
Does anyone have that?

I hope I am asking this in the right place, or hope a mod can point me out since I couldn't do a search engine on this. But when we use the '@' to utilize the name dropper function, sometimes certain members have names that end with a symbol, most common one I've seen is a period, so it will cut off or tag someone with a similar starting part of the username instead of the person I meant to tag. Is there a way around this? I've copied the actual member's link address into their name drop when I use it, but then the "@" symbol disappears, so I don't think it shows up as a name drop anymore. I hope that made sense. Thank you mods and fellow members for your time!
