SYNOPSIS

Ji Sang (Ji Sung) is a gifted seer, born with the ability to see into people’s pasts and futures. There are those who believe falsely that he has dark supernatural powers, thinking he is possessed by ghosts. When he comes of age in the late Goryeo era, he becomes a scholar of divination, and a reader of geography, faces, and fortunes — an area with much influence at the time. He eventually becomes a “king-maker” who holds the key to a major political shift in the overthrow of Goryeo and the rise of Joseon. He helps the General Lee Sung Gye (Ji Jin Hee) become the first king of the Joseon Dynasty.

Lee Jung Geun (Song Chang Ui) is Ji Sang’s rival. Hae In (Kim So Yeon) is Ji Sang’s main love interest and Ban Ya (Lee Yoon Ji) is Ji Sang’s first love.

Ji Sung Returns to the Screen with Lead Role in SBS 'The Great Seer'

Actor Ji Sung has been revealed to be cast as the lead of the new SBS drama ‘The Great Seer’, premiering on October.

His return marks his second appearance in the SBS drama in recent times, after his latest drama ‘Protect the Boss’, also on SBS as well.

Ji-sang, his role, is a seer seemingly with an ability to see the past and the future, suspected of being helped by ghosts, but in reality is a genius with an amazing skill in analysis and deduction. Ji-sang becomes the foremost feng shui expert in Goryeo dynasty, and assumes the role of kingmaker to the general Yi Seong-gye, the future King Taejo of Joseon and the founder of the Yi dynasty.

His management company has revealed that “the producers have cast him after considering his acting skills and warm demeanor to be suitable for the lead role” and “his contract has been finalized recently”.

A representative from the drama has placed his assurance of the quality of the drama, commenting that “the viewers will be in for a fresh face of fantasy faction in Korean drama.”

The drama ‘Great Seer’ is a faction historical depicting the seers in the end of Goryeo dynasty helping Yi Seong-gye build a new dynasty, and includes Kim So-yeon, Lee Yoon-ji, and Ji Jin-hee among the ranks along with Ji Sung.

Ahh Ji Jin Hee is back on tv, Kim So yeon, Ji  Sung, and Lee Yoonji. Tht is just perfect but I already know my feelings will become too invested and I might get crushed if no romance. We already know Sageuks are about teaching life lessons not being in love. So excited for this drama.

I think this Sageuk will have a little romance, because Kim So Yeon falls in love with Ji Sung (in film) ^^

Song Chang-ee cast for SBS "The Great Seer"

Actor Song Chang-ee has been cast for the SBS drama "The Great Seer".

According to WS Entertainment on the 24th, Song has been cast for the leading role of Lee Jeong-geun and participated in the first reading on the 22nd.

Lee Jeong-geun is a knowledgeable character in name and fortune and divination and Ji Sang's (Ji Seong) greatest rival.

This is Song's second historical drama in addition to MBC drama "Yi San" in 2008. He's been active before this with musicals "Elizabeth" and "Gwanghwamun Poetry".

"The Great Seer" is about the behind story of the Chosun Empire when ascetics around authority put forward war hero Lee Seong-gye to establish the Chosun and is cast by Ji Seong, Ji Jin-hee, Kim So-yeon and others.

Dying to see a new Kim So Yeon drama, definitely will be checking this out once Faith is finished. I was hoping to see Go Soo in this drama but I don't mind that Ji Sung ended up with the role instead.
