I have a theory about that. This style is actually the easiest to maintain for straight, thick and "stiff" hair - when individual hairs are not flexible, but quite rigid. If you cut such hair with a fringe and shorter sides, this hairstyle is what you get after just washing and towel-drying. Anything else requires a lot of product and hair gel. Not many people would want to bother with that every day.

 

That is why I still think JH maintained his long hair for so long after TMWYS and only cut it for the Hometown Flex - strainght hair is actually easier to maintain if it is longer (may be a different story with a frizzy or curly hair). But for a straight hair -  you just wash it, comb it, dry it and put in a pony tail. Does not get into your eyes while exercising or working and still looks presentable.

But it was not a good idea for a show where you visit your hometown, because for men it has this slightly bohemian, hippy image.

I think you might be right. In the few pics we saw of him in the gym or in that youtube show with his friend, his hair was completely straight, so I think you are right that he kept it cause it's easier to maintain. And I also agree about him cutting it before the show- I can't imagine the amount of teasing he would have gotten if he still had the longer hair, not to mention the reaction from the busan people around him. He already got quite a bit of attention, but with the longer hair I think it would have tripled.

Much as I am bafled by the popularity of this show, I am happy JH gets positive review and steals the show even when not saying much.

I actually like the second episode much better, JH was more talkative, and, to you, I would recommend watching the bit they spent in the cinema. In that bit JH shared a lot about his professional influences, the movies that shaped him. And you can see how passionate he is about acting and cinema... This is where we got a little glimpse of intense and talkative JH. But I also loved the last part, though I think they could have done without pranking Si Eon. He was really hurt that no one, and especially JH, was willing to join him... But it was interesting to see JH's influence on yet another Korean actor and see just how much he admires and even idolizes JH. I was fascinated to see how open he was about his admiration to JH, and how uncomfortable JH was with it . Love the last part when JH surprised him and joined him, almost making Si Eon cry... 

JH came across fantastic from this show- the contrast between his shy, laid back  and quirky personality, and the admiration he got, I think made the viewer that doesn't know JH that much intrigued about him, and this is what we want to see, more young people exposed to his talent.

 

Oh, and another thing I noticed- when they spoke about watching movies in Busan, they spoke about simultaneous showings, I think. And Si Eon said that usually the second movie was more... of the adult kind, and they started talking about it, laughing. The thing is that, yet again, JH said nothing about that. This is something I noticed- JH almost never speaks about anything sexual, never makes a sexual joke. I noticed that also in the Wassup man youtube episode. The only time I saw him talk about anything like that what when he spoke about seeing a porn movie by mistake in the Guru show, but that show is not translated...

Hmmm... from what we saw in the show, I got the impression that no one reacted to their presence. So there were screaming girls around them while they were filming, and the production simply made sure to edit them out?! Look at CTH smiling in reaction while JH ignoring... Also, it seems like JH still behaved like he had his long hair, so no need to protect his neck!

Yep. I think all Soompi's forums were down... Got me worried a bit, but now we're back! 

So, how has things been going? The only new thing I saw was JH's new picture, that he posted on his IG. I thought he looks incredible in it, very intense. The stark contrast between that picture and how he came across in Hometown flex is amazing. I think this side of him, that I'm sure exists, JH will never show in a Variety show... Made me think about how he said that sometimes he does get so angry on set that he wants to explode, but he never does. That shows what incredible self control he has... I actually wouldn't mind seeing him angry...

You guys said that most actors don't work as much as JH usually does... I wonder how they handle that, cause I just can't take it this small hiatus!

That was probably me?   (In any case I agree with that person). I really don’t think this has any significance. He opened that IG account on a whim, in the same fashion he was just probably bored and decided to post a selfie on a whim. It’s not the first time he posts a serious selfie (in fact, his selfies are mostly serious) Also not the first time he looks skinny or gaunt, as people say. But anyway, I am happy he posted something new. I, like everyone else, am really desperate for him to announce a new project. I now truly miss him.

Infact when I couldn't get in the thread past days, I tried sending message to @azureblue7@Biology Lessonjust to make sure I wasn't the only one but no, the messages couldn't go through too.

 

Agree with you @The Reel Lifeno VOICE. But it seemed the covic is coming back - hope no 2nd wave. Not sure if there's any new drama/movie.

Just what I've been up to, watching Turkish drama. How desperate can one be now with JH drama famine? Hahaha!
