There is nothing to feel guilty about though. His second son was born prematurely(I think more than one month earlier) so there was no way he could make it to witness the birth. He was shooting at far away place.

It's just colour of his lips which makes him pretty otherwise I think he is manly looking. I find his features handsome and unique(among K actors).

The regulars here will know, I’m very boring.

i watch only JH’s productions and knows only him by name and etc. The rest I don’t know and not familiar, can only recognise by face because they appear together with JH. I think I’ve literally combed thru his variety shows, dramas and movies. There were some I have yet to find a good source to watch though, such as ‘the client’ which I’ve heard very good reviews.

no time for others.

but for JH, any time :)

It's been a lively past few days here! Haha. Let's keep it up :)

As for My Country, I love the (little) scenes he has so far. Super charismatic and as always, he never fails to deliver! But like what others have mentioned here, there were just a few very mind-boggling scenes for me:
1) The part where they suddenly cut to Hee Jae and the stepmom having to fend for themselves. It was totally out of the blue!
2) His hair suddenly going from being in a bun when he escorted them, to being fully loose/disheveled.

3) How QUICKLY the "country" was taken over by Gen YSG (LBW's father), it was like they defeated the current administration but we were barely taken through the journey and could not feel the "battle". There was barely any build-up to it, any reasons given for their battle, and barely the taste of victory felt. (Even for all the battle scenes that happened on Seo Hwi's end, it felt very focused on him only and I couldn't sense the bigger picture of everything). This in particular is very baffling to me.

But I understand that YSG only took the throne in 1392, is that right? What happened in this 4 years? I thought they ousted the king already. Can someone shed light?

I'm looking forward to how Seo Hwi and Sun Ho will interact with LBW. It was quite a surprise to me that Seo Hwi was asked to steal LBW's heart and attack him later. I just hope that they will form a genuine alliance later, and that the initial alliance we saw at the first episode is not a facade put on by Seo Hwi. I can't bear to see LBW being betrayed by Seo Hwi! :sweatingbullets: The JH fan in me just wants LBW to get everything right even if he is the antagonist in this show. :sweatingbullets: But I suppose we can be optimistic that since in actual history LBW triumphed and ascended the throne, his fate in My Country would be true to historical events right?

Initially I was a lil upset when I watch DB where he said he and his wife don't get to talk much (or at least not about themselves) and that they don't say I love you often to each other. But having watched that conversation a few times, I come to understand that it is partly due to (1) his parenting style with his wife, (2) his kids are young, seemingly very active and noisy, (3) perhaps also relationship style with his wife, so on and so forth.

@AquariusMYlook at it from the angle of a normal husband and wife relationship. Apart from all the reasons you have quoted above, may I add, especially in men, not saying all men are like this, but the longer the relationship, the harder it is for them to open their golden mouth to say ILY. Couples who have been married for 10 years and above probably can relate to this or anyone who has dated the same guy for more than 10 years can also relate to this. It is that feeling of "comfort" "familiar" that they feel they no longer need to say ILY but you know that ILY that kind of feeling. He has been with his wife 6 years before marriage, 11 years of marriage as of current, which makes it 17 years. I don't need to say ILY in words anymore but saying ILY probably in action or in any other ways.

Fortunately in the same scene in DB, he said he still get butterflies when his wife is around, which means a lot for a man to say this to his good friends (and we know him to be an honest person).

I'm touched when he said this. Some men would not even noticed their wife cut her hair, not to mention still get butterflies.

By the way, does any of you know why JH's agency and family initially did not approve to his decision to get married? I understand his agency may want to protect his popularity and fame, but why would his parents disagree too? Are they also worried he is too young to get married during his peaking popularity? I hope this is the reason and not that they did not like his wife.

I mentioned in my earlier posts, the subtitles in english and chinese, I don't know if it matches. Since I am not korean, I do not know if what he spoke in korean matches the subtitles. But what was written in the chinese subtitle is that, his parents saw his wife as a son snatcher. But to him, his wife is someone worthy of his love (值得我去爱). This is the KneeDrop Guru programme.

I watched DB in both english and chinese subtitle. Like for instance, when HKM asked JH how he felt when he goes home and see his wife asleep. The english subtitle is pity, the chinese subtitle is heartache (心疼).

In another scene - when he was doing exercise and rec'd a phone call. Since CTH said the call is from his loved one, I assume is his wife. I guess the caller must have told him she is going somewhere or they (wife and kids) are going somewhere, and he replied 要好好玩,吃多一点 (enjoy yourselves and eat more). This was not reflected in the english subtitle.

So what I am trying to say is that, maybe sometimes the subtitles also could have changed his original word meaning. Example, did he say pity in korean or did he say heartache in korean? Pity and heartache are quite different in meaning.

I agree that it is just different parenting styles.  Personality matters here too. I remember CTH mentioned that his wife doesn't like him to be in kissing and revealing scenes but JH mentioned during an interview that since his wife used to be a professional dancer, she understands what acting is about and knows it is  all about work. Hence, she is not very jealous. He also continued that his wife's way of cheering him on is  very unique. For example, in some works,  he may be required to do some kissing or bed scenes. Instead, his wife will tell him not to limit to visual effects. She is someone who is relatively more open-minded in his acting career and so he is really very grateful to her.

Translated from the excerpt below:

他的妻子又是怎样看待的呢?「因为妻子曾经跳过舞,是个知道什么是演戏的人,也明确知道这都是工作,并不会很嫉妒」;接著张赫也表示妻子为他加油的方式也很独特,「她很支持我,诸如有些作品中必须要有吻戏或是床戏的,她反而会跟我说要我不要只限於视觉上的效果,在我的演艺生涯中是个比较放得开的人,因此我很感谢她」。(Source : https://www.koreastardaily.com/sc/news/8144)

The same article I read but I read it from another chinese source. Kudos to his wife, because of her open mindedness, he is able to "explore" and "soar" in the area of his work without having to worry if she will get angry or jealous. And because he is able to "explore" and "soar" - we have an amazing actor to watch.

I thought I was watching a movie and the movie is going to end soon. The events are so fast. In ep 3, he was just going to escort his stepmother and her entourage and his hair nice and intact suddenly his hair got blown everywhere, he had blood stain on his face, his stepmother was stabbed. I think all of us who watch have a big ?????? too. Didn't see much fight, didn't even see them on a longer journey and victory already. Can return home. Found it so anti climax.

I even rewinded to watch that forest scene again coz I thought I missed something. It was indeed very abrupt.

I sincerely think there are several scenes missing. For sure we are missing the scene showing the women going on the road without YBW and him following them, looking at how surprised they were to see him. As to why his hair was down, I can think of several reasons... :) I wonder why they cut the scenes...

@budgerie @The Reel Life @PrettysupActually you all are not the only ones who feel this way, a few viewers left comments on Naver to ask JTBC to s

Oh yes, I remembered watching that part. He said once they saw their cute little grandson, he was pushed aside..haha! So his strategy worked.

I thought it is so sweet when he mentioned that his wife is the most romantic person he has ever met and she makes him want to be a better person.

My question - why is YBW not with them when he is supposed to escort them. And what about the other man with YBW (whose hair is still neat). Even if YBW stepped out for awhile to lure the attackers away (I am assuming there are many attackers), YBW would surely know better than to leave the women/children to fend for themselves. So the question is, where is the other man?

I like very much YBW scene - the one he asked the lady how about sharing a moonlight night together  this man is very sexy when he said that, his eyes is so tempting. I would immediately say YES you know.

We should all be convinced that he does love his wife very much. No doubt about that. Hahaha! We just need to "borrow" her husband once in a while to drool and fantasize but he is hers and nothing is going to change that. LOL.

This is what I'm saying- I think the women left without him, for some reason. I think he was informed they left and he followed them, and this is why he got there to end the fight. My guess- they left without him because maybe because before they were supposed to leave, he wanted to share a "moonlight night" with someone first :) this might explain his hair being down

Hmm, the theory about the women leaving without him make sense, maybe one of the kids wanted to poo when YBW or his men went to scout ahead? Then his hair got disheveled during the fight. I don't think he wanted to share any 'moonlit night' in broad daylight lol..

Anyway the best thing about this drama is that we know JH is not going to die before the show ends haha, coz we all know about YBW's history hahaha...

:joy::joy: You all are so imaginative! I think the editing is really poorly done! Too many stuff to pack into the eps!

Maybe they just want him to have as many different hairstyles as possible...the half up hair do, neat bun and messy hair do.

I'm guessing they left during the night. For sure he wasn't with them when they left, or they wouldn't have reacted with such shock when he appeared. As to what he did when they left- remember the odd things the step mother said- she called his "rambunctious"- why would she do that?! to that he answered that he wasn't as bad as his dad when it comes for women. This suggests that at least the step mother thinks he was with women when they left.

At the end of ep 3, stepmother said she will not raise her sons like him and he asked if they could start on the journey and she said sure. So we know they left together. Hahaha, @Biology Lessonyour imagination is :thumbsup:if his moonlight night is true which I don't think so, it must have been quite a MOONLIGHT NIGHT looking at his hair. :sweat_smile:He is a good seducer yo.

Lol...another good imagination @Prettysupmaybe the boy got IBS. You know, when you are scared or excited, you really need to poo.

Coming back to ep 4, stepmother gave girl the knife. At least show the attackers trying to capture the boy so she got no choice but to take out the knife. Add some tension. It's like so easy she took out the knife want to kill the boy. No tension at all. HAIZ and I think we can go on and on ranting.
