In same boat.  I seen many unhappy couples.  I'm just going with flow not rushing it, but not close off to it either.  In meantime JH help pass the time.

The grass is always greener the other side. People who are single (sometimes) admired the married. People who are married (sometimes) wished they didn't get married. There's no which is better but there is which suits you better.

That's not impossible too. Many artistes will flock to his company. :lol:Which means he'll be more busy managing these artistes :sweatingbullets:less time for home.

Hmm...that's a good question. Why do I even bother to ask? But at least I know now that he doesn't have butterflies with me. I rest my case. :bawling:hahaha!

That's not impossible too. He's a rich guy now. Can invest in Sidus. Didn't I read that he's well versed in investment? Some chinese article wrote that.

Nope for me. It isn't very convenient for a married woman to be drooooooling over a man so openly at home so I'll just drool secretly.

Bae Yong Jun (my first ever K-actor crush hahahaha) has a very successful company called Key East that houses Woo Do Hwan, Kim Soo Hyun etc but sadly BYJ stopped acting. Now he truly was the beginning and epitome of a Hallyu Star!

Ooh that would be very interesting if he did invest in Sidus. Maybe that is the perk he gets for being an indispensable actor for them and staying so long in the company.

Lol so does your husband know that you’re such a big fan of JH? Do you watch JH’s shows with him or talk about him? Hahahah!

No! Of course not! :lol:To him, my drama is always "lousy" drama. Only his drama is "good" drama. But my daughter/son know I'm in this forum and watching JH drama. :joy:And they both know that "mummy only watch handsome men"....:P

Haha u must be a newly-wed. My husb and kids all know about my numerous idols coz their faces  appear on the pc screen whenever I’m using it. And if they read any news or see any dramas about my idols they will cue me too. Remember that time I went to meet JH at the red carpet? Three of them at home were so excited to spot mummy on tv holding a placard hahaha...

And I also think that even if they deeply want marriage and family, I don't know if they would really make such knowledge so public. Maybe they would just reply with a simple yes or they are open to it, but more often it is also to upkeep an image that they are ok with singlehood and shift the focus to their career instead. Otherwise, they may be deemed as desperate by the public.

There are also actresses who might have been hurt very deeply in the past with previous relationships so instead of going into another one, they rather focus on their career for fear of being hurt deeply again. These actresses are not going to tell the public they've been deeply hurt before. So they portray a hard front career women image so that the media will leave them alone hopefully. There are quite many unmarried female actress, JNR, HJW, GHJ, LDH....etc. My 2 cents worth of observation, I think LDH holds a torch for JH. Not sure about JNR though but when they were acting FTLY, onscreen and off screen the way she looked at him .....and she was more touchy feely with him off screen but he kept his hands to himself. Hahaha.

Coming back to non married actresses, because of their celebrity status, it's very difficult for non celebrity men to approach them. Esp if the men wants a down-to-earth and homely person. No non celebrity husband will like it if their wife is working and filming long hours, and have to be intimate with other men and kiss. Believe it or not, women are more acceptable and adaptable to their husband but not the other way round.

Sometimes a couple fall in love after doing a drama together. I wonder if they fall in love with the person or fall in love with the character that person was acting as and hasn't walked out of it yet. It's not good to fall in love with a fellow actor or actress after a drama is done, because you don't know whether you love the person as in love JH for example, or you love the person he acted as (in my case Pil Joo). Sometimes I can't even differentiate it myself if I "love" JH or I love Pil Joo...

Hahaha! If I'm a newly wed and my husb is not having any more butterflies, something is very wrong! My husb doesn't watch k drama. As I said earlier, my drama to him is "lousy" only his chinese drama is "good".

My kids are not drama freak. But sometimes they'll just be nosey to see what I'm typing here. Sometimes they really get very nosey wanting to read what I'm writing here and I shoo them away. I'm very bad with computing stuff so sometimes really have to seek help here and @azureblue7always came to my rescue. If I ask any of my children for help, they'll know what I'm up to and teased me about it.

I wonder what will my children do if they spot me on TV? Probably go "oh my goodness" and cover their faces. Hahaha!

LDH has a boyfriend !

LDH seems like an uninhibited person who is prone to being misunderstood and creating 'controversies'. So I don't read too much into her comments.

JNR herself is shy person and she is generally reserved with her co-stars. I think she just felt comfortable in JH's company and considered him 'safe'(because of his marital status) person.

I think that that if he took on the role, he would indeed be a bigger Hallyu Star than he then was, and he would be limited to roles that he would want to try out as an actor, because having a certain insane popularity status - there will be very high pressure to keep it up and only take very selected kind of roles that will maintain your image or boost the status.

Also, I don’t know if it would then bode very well with how he is currently keeping his family out of the limelight and doing more mature and diverse roles. Probably fans will be going crazy over him - imagine the hype from SeGa and shipping of HB and HJW is still present till today. But of course it’s also because both are still single. And I truly believe that being single as an actor in Korea does make things abit different especially in dramaland. Dramaland plays up the hype of who are single a lot,  whereas movies are more appreciative of senior and married actors due to the nature of the roles that don’t rely on younger fan girls.

In relation to this, this variety article was published after Cha In Ha was found dead. They don't know for sure, but suicide is suspected. It talks about the pressures actors and actresses are facing in the Korean entertainment industry, just as you mentioned. I also know that one of the actresses from Penthouse Elephant committed suicide, and she made allegations of sexual exploitation. So this is another thing that actors, both male and female, are faced with. I always wonder about some of the more explicit movies that main stream actors do, considering how Korean society actually is rather conservative... So, at the end of the day, I wouldn't comment about the private life of any actor or actress, since we never know what they really experience behind the scenes. I will just say that JH is very smart about how he is handling his career and private life...

"The string of deaths young stars points to a grim reality of the South Korean entertainment industry. At the same time as South Korean music and TV dramas are reaching new heights of international popularity, thanks to dramatic story lines, good-looking talent and almost endless rehearsal, the system is increasing being revealed as pressurized and dispiriting.

Pressure appears to come both from demanding management and from fans who use social media to viciously criticize perceived flaws in behavior and image."

@fiesty8001 Wow! Poor HJW no idea she went through all that :( goes to show, beauty fame, money, it really doesn’t bring happiness. I hope she overcomes her depression.

On a lighter note. Im still freaking single and not by choice.

I don't know whether she still suffers from depression or not but she was recieving therapy a few years ago. Depression is unpredictable so I can't say anything about her present condition. I just hope that at time of need she doesn't shy away from seeking help. Her bother's death must have been devastating for her considering she was close to her family.

I'm single too but by choice. It's almost impossible to not get a few hundred marriage proposals here. Your whole family, friends, neighbours and acquaintances are always on hunt for potential husbands/wives. A few days ago I attended marriage of one of my close friend and her aunt nearly set me up. I've to shoo the auntie away and she cursed me that I'll die an old maid.:w00t:

I was debating to buy or not.  But this is the first time JH has his own calendar.  And I don't know if there'll be another one next time.  So... I just bought ;)

Just wanna share that I started watching My Country last night..binge watched 4 eps and slept at 2am. I was hooked. Yang Se Jong and Woo Do Hwan are great actors too. But how ridiculous was it that a sword pierced thru the captain's body and he got hit by multiple arrows and he is still alive??? Also when Hwi got hit by the arrow and it seemed like nothing happened. :D

Anyway.. I will still finish the series because the plot and cinematography is interesting.

Haven't seen much Bang Won scenes yet. Hope to see more of him in the upcoming eps.

When I read that she was sad when JH announced he is getting married. She must have had a crush on him then but who wouldn't? Even now that he is married, sure also got female co stars have a crush on him. JNR seemed to have chemistry with her male co stars. So is not only JH. Her chemistry with the actor in VIP is also not bad.

Not exclusive to k entertainment industry. C entertainment industry also equally the same. In the early days when HK entertainment industry was booming, say around the late 70s or 80s, it was said that HK actresses who wants to have a lead role (often) have to do the bidding of the director(s) or the boss of the company.

Seriously I don't think the society is that conservative now. I used to think that, for those who needed to strip entirely probably are those porn actors/actress. But it doesn't seem like it. Normal actors/actress also needed to strip.

I remember watching A Frozen Flower, actress Song Ji Hyo needed to show her breast and lovemaking scenes.

The actress in Empire of Lust also had to have lovemaking scenes and showed her body.

Kim Ming Jung also had steamy scenes in Forbidden Quest.

So perhaps is the norm in k entertainment industry that if they have to do it, they have to do it.

Indeed, I applaud him for this. I think even though he appears easy going and humble and extra nice, he is actually a very intelligent and learned man. He is a deep thinker and ponders very carefully before making his move.

Fans and netizens mouth are scary. Media too. They literally write all sorts of news about the celebrity, add spice to it some more. So far we (or me) haven't heard much negative comments about JH but doesn't mean there isn't. Just out of curiosity sake, you heard any negative comments about JH?

Sorry for being nosey, but it must have been sickening to have people trying to set you up with who and who and who.

Sad to say, no matter what race or culture we belong to, there's bound to have people who feel that people must get married. That life is incomplete without marriage.

After marriage, people think it's a must to have children. Life is incomplete without children. I do have friends who have no children and people will keep asking why they're not having children. People can be so insensitive, has it ever occurred to them that sometimes, people just can't conceive?? What have humans become I wonder? So insensitive.

I feel that so long as you're happy, is a good life.

Actually, felt she had more chemistry offscreen with Sang Yun in VIP as compare to actual drama, but I haven't been able to continue with latest episodes.  With JH I feel like they were both comfortable with each other in bts.

I think so far only the military thing as negative, but nothing else really which is amazing because sometime people speculate and create rumors.

Very interesting to read everyone's perspective on the notion of staying single, getting married, choices vs opportunities, and so on. I agree with everyone's comments. I understand that it was a quick conclusion of mine that celebrities in general perhaps choose to be single to pursue their careers. I truly agree that many may just not have met the right person or they faced pressure when in a relationship as a celebrity.

In short, we are all happy for JH to be fortunate to met his wife at the right place and time, and made the decision to settle down together. I really hope he remains true to himself and to the love for his family.

I guess in this sense, Sidus sounds good for JH because they seem to let him have the freedom he wants and he seems to have full control of his life and his choices of roles? (At least now, at this stage from what we know.)

Also, re: social media - I remember saying in the recent interview when asked whether he has a soc med account, to which he replied he does, but he just isn't active because "he needs and deserves his own time". That to me sounded like a very firm, confident and assured answer from someone who would not let the addiction of social media or the need to please fans get to him. I think he said last time that he was hooked on IG for awhile, but I'm glad now he's made the conscious decision to practice soc med detox as necessary so that he can live his life. Unfortunately for many others (me included), we're still super hooked onto our gadgets, IG etc. so much so that we choose to interact with our phones during meals or gatherings rather than with each other.

Maybe you don't need to be in a conservative society in order to not be willing to do explicit sex scenes. I know that there were actresses in Game of Thrones that had body doubles for their sex scenes, and even here someone wrote that many actors and actresses in Korean movies use body doubles. Also,  even for kissing- many actresses will not kiss with tongue, so doing nudity can't be easy. I've seen many comments talking about how most actresses in kdramas are very stiff and unresponsive in kiss scenes. So how is it possible that those same actresses suddenly do explicit sex scenes?! We were just discussing the actress from Midas doing sex scenes in Penthouse Elephant... My guess is that since many of those movies are considered to be artistic and high brow and are critically acclaimed, so many actresses that want such recognition, feel like they don't have a choice.

But it's not just actresses. We know that JH doesn't like to do such scenes, and I noticed that his scenes are rather tame compared to other movies or even other scenes in the same movie. So it seems like he has more control over what he will and will not do. What most young actresses and actors don't have.
