Pirates of the Caribbean made me pretty happy/obsessed/excited back in middle school-high school. (I haven't seen the 4th movie though)
Now, almost 4 years later I don't have a favorite series that makes me feel excited like that. (even the superheroes one don't do it for me and I love superhero stuff! Maybe once The Flash movies comes out and then Justice League.
I'm going to watch Kill Bill for the first time soon. Maybe I'll enjoy that!

Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is and will always be my favorite movie franchise of ALL TIME.
It's just had such an impact on my life and I love what Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens have done with it all. : D

I also like the X-Men franchise, though I was devastated when they killed off Cyclops in the 3rd film...
Currently, I like what Marvel is doing with their cinematic universe.
