5 Typical K-Drama Romance Plots You Hate But Love

What’s a good romance without a little bit of cliché? If you’ve seen a lot of K-dramas, chances are you’ve noticed a pattern between a few of them and their romance plots. And while the romances may sometimes be a little too familiar, that doesn’t make them tug any less at our heartstrings.

What’s a good romance without a little bit of cliché? If you’ve seen a lot of K-dramas, chances are you’ve noticed a pattern between a few of them and their romance plots. And while the romances may sometimes be a little too familiar, that doesn’t make them tug any less at our heartstrings.

Here are five types of K-drama romance plots sure to be your guilty pleasures, despite how overwhelmingly cliché they are.

The Romeo and Juliet Plot

Secret Garden, Heirs

Kind of like the classic forbidden love story, this one happens a lot. It’s interesting not only because of its forbidden complex, but it also employs the “opposites attract” theory, too. But as always, things can never be that simple. The couple, much like the couples in “Heirs” or “Secret Garden,” must battle their parents’ disapproval — which can definitely turn the fantasy into a bumpy ride.

@mylastwishes 5 actors in Haewadal?? really? I just thought Tae Soo is with the old Jiwon's agency O_O;

Yup! On Haewadal's fb page, you can see the 4 guys on the header. Other than Tae Soo, the other 3 are Choi Dong Gu (Healer), Nam Dong Hyun and Kim In Sik. I can't find any info about the latter 2 though. Maybe they're models nor actors.

And OMG those pictures!!! She's soooooo gorgeous. How is she real. And he's really handsome. They look so good together, I wish their scandal was real haha. Can't wait for the movie to come out.

Thankful that even during her hiatus, we're blessed with new pictures often :)

Lee Jin-wook, "I had the best chemistry with Ha Ji-won"

photo676202.jpg

Actor Lee Jin-wook was interviewed by MBC TV show "Section TV".

Lee Jin-wook chose Ha Ji-won as the best actress he ever worked with.

"Maybe that's because I most recently worked with her".

Lee Jin-wook continued to say, "I don't think my image in real life has to be compatible to my character image. I want to show people what they don't expect from me".

Ha Ji-won’s romantic escapade

1602mcmacemr08_4

Actress Ha Ji-won’s new film “Risking Life for Love,” is set to be released in theaters this February and Marie Claire magazine has released a photo shoot to shows the “risky” chemistry between Ha and her costar Chen Bolin.

The new film is a romance-thriller and the spread seemed to offer a sneak peak at the plot, with its beautiful, yet mysterious mood lingering in the air.

The entire feature was done in collaboration with Italian luxury brand Giorgio Armani, and Ha looked breathtakingly beautiful in a red oriental-patterned dress and rosy makeup. Her style stands out, like a single budding rose among the snow covering the fields of Aomori prefecture, Japan.

The couple’s “Romeo and Juliet”-like chemistry intensified in a train compartment. The classic background and the couple’s matching blue suits embody the mellow atmosphere in the air.

The cautious couple sport another look that beautifully portrays the essence of “runaway lovers.” Ha Ji-won wears a structured minidress with a different oriental pattern from the former, underneath a pale fur coat matched with a red clutch. Actor Chen Bolin’s grey-blue double-breasted suit makes him look like a true gentleman, escorting his lover.

The photo shoot can be further viewed in Marie Claire magazine’s February issue and at the magazine’s official website.

IT Item: How K-Stars Wore IT - long coats

Coats are the quintessential winter fashion and their length decides the style and warmth of its wearer. This year, long coats have struck back from the past and swept the majestic cloak across fashionistas around the world.

Long coats have stood alongside the most important moments of cinematic revolution -- from Sherlock Holmes’ signature hat and pipe perfected with checkered wool coat to Neo’s heroic flops of his black coat in the world of “Matrix,” long coats were “there.”

Who could deny the warmth of the long coat when it keeps you sheltered from frosty winds from head to toe. Let’s see which K-stars have respected the tradition with a touch of their own refined taste.

(skipped unrelated...)

Ha Ji-won’s Cherokee-style coat brings back childhood memories of Pocahontas and how we all envied her body and sleek black hair. Ha’s personal interpretation of the princess’s style proves that some styles are universal.
