In 24, how he tenderly watched her through the night and his aspirin kiss definitely lowered her fever.  He saved her.

Loved the part where he revealed to his aunt how ES has affected him.  He is tearing up and exploded at his aunt saying that the waiting is killing him.  Awesome.  He was relieved that she is cured though. Told the king with no hesitation that he is with the king. He is going to find his love and that both him and his love with be returning to the palace. :D  Popsicle is back.

When he found her, the way he looked so hopeful when he asked if she was well and then breathlessly asked if she would stay with him.  So earnest and hopeful,  great scene. Then when they were in bed together and he could not have enough of looking at her face now that he does not need to forget her.  I loved the way she traced her fingers around his nose and lips, so sweet but then I was thinking of LMH and KHS while filming, they probably were laughing and finding hard to film that scene, probably many "cut" before they could be serious enough to do the scene, seeing how they love to joke and play with each other. Fun pair :joy:

Looks like the gateway is very selective, only CY and ES could pass but not Ki Cheol.  I think CY was planning to go with ES to visit Seoul if he had not been brought down by KC.

I think the end was fine where bearded CY (overnight gristle) was starring at ES and smiling.  Sweet end.

I found this comment on Viki by Irmar July 2017 which I thought I would share.

I really loved this drama, and I'll try to explain why. First of all, the story was gripping and overall it made sense. The period in which it takes place is very interesting, the historical moment in which a Goryeo king decides to do something about the Yuan protectorate/domination and claim national pride for the first time. Almost all the characters were very-well written. The coming-of-age of the young king was beautiful to see, as he struggled to claim his and his country's dignity, he struggled to understand who was really on his side and whom he could really trust, he struggled to keep his humanity and his responsibility as king. His love story with his queen, a quiet and loving woman with a very strong personality, was one of the most endearing.

Choi Young, the main lead, was a very believable character, the silent type, a loyal and reliable kind, who however is not simple-minded soldier but can be a wise pupil of a martial arts teacher who doesn't only teach war skills but life lessons as well. Lee Min Ho, who is not of course the most awesome actor out there, but is a solid professional, still gave a very good interpretation here, one of his best. He did speak with his eyes a lot of the time, and I loved how soft-spoken he was, signifying that a strong person doesn't need to yell to make an impact. The lady doctor was a strong heroine, strong from beginning to end, never going into helpless damsel in distress mode, even when she would be excused to be so. I didn't like how they wrote some of her exaggerated reactions in the first half of the series: for instance, when she finally understood where she was, why did she keep using English words etc? If I am on vacation in a small village, for instance, and have a conversation with an old fisherman, I will not use English words because I know he won't understand. Yet she, for months and months, keeps spurting out those words unnecessarily. She also doesn't change her clothing and hair style, so that she sticks out like a sore thumb. But her character development once she starts being in love makes up for all of that.

Thinking about it, all the ladies in the show have strong personalities. Think of court lady Choi, and the Fire Lady. The two villains, while equally cruel, were nicely diversified as personalities. One extremely intelligent, a driven man with a burning thirst for discovery and knowledge. Born in a different situation, he could have become a great explorer or scientist. The other one, a lazy hedonist who just thinks of how to make life easier for himself. The pace was just right, the flashbacks kept to a minimum, where really needed, the excitement didn't stall, and you kept wanting to see what comes next. The explanation was clear and the ending very satisfying, although brief. So this is one of the very few dramas with a good, clear and satisfying ending. Yes, there were flaws. First of all the super-powers. They were not really needed, the drama would have been exactly the same without them. But seeing that they are there, they are not properly exploited, we aren't told how they work and why they are not used when they are not used, what are the side-effects and so on. Choi Young used his power very sparingly, so we are left to wonder, but even the villains didn't use them and just duelled with swords when they could have finished everything in two seconds using the superpowers. This brings me to the manga minions. Apart from the poor acting, the roles themselves were not well-written. Their presence was very repetitive: they just did their thing and left. Therefore, even if the actors were good, they weren't given a lot of scope and I'm not sure they would have been able to redeem their characters or make them more interesting. The love of the white-haired flutist for his fire companion was hinted at in the very beginning, and then at the very end, but that's about it. The biggest waste was the role of Royal Doctor Jang. It could have been a lot more interesting, but he served almost no purpose. So was the mute girl. Back story? Motivation? Important role? Was this written originally and cut? Were these two roles the remnant of a first draft? The fight scenes were not always good, you could see that someone did a really acrobatic thing without even touching the opponent. The armors looked very obviously rubber. I get it that leather and metal would have been much more expensive and the drama already cost too much. Obviously because of financial problems, the troops towards the end always consisted in ten people at the most and I suspect that if I watched closely, I would find out that they were always the same ten extras, playing the good troops and the bad troops alternatively. The opening bird's-eye view of the palace, which was the same all the time. How much trouble was it to shoot two or three different ones and alternate for variety? And there were a couple of things which were quite illogical. Small things, such as... why did the lady have a film roll with her? Who uses film rolls today anyway, who uses analogical cameras with actual film except for professional photographers? An aspirin bottle could have been more logical. There were some sloppily convenient little details like that, which I won't list right now, as they are not that important. As a side note, I would have liked some more passionate kissing between the leads. It wouldn't need to be a real one shown in detail: they could show it from afar, just to suggest they are kissing. There were some scenes where any normal couple would kiss, and yet they restrained from it, and it seemed very weird. But well, now the drama is finished - since a long time ago - so it is what it is, take it or leave it. As it is, I think it's one of the very good ones, a keeper. Do watch it.

EVENT: THREAD SPOTLIGHT! hey ya chingus, with this spotlight, get ready to discover one of the dramas that was part of the re-watch events that we kicked off this quarter with the saeguk theme.

@Maja omo!!!! Come here!! *hugssss* it’s been so long! So happy we called you out to join us once more on a Faith rewatch!!     @Thong Thin hahaha, you are my old student so no need t

Episode 24

So the shaking of Choi Young’s hand is in fact something psychological. He was still able to fight off Ki Chul and his men anyway, especially when provoked. Now our general has got his thoughts and heart straight and decided not to follow the footsteps of his master. I didn’t expect that his master’s death would be linked at this time, but it made sense that Choi Young used that moment to decide on his fate now as general. He has returned to Gongnim, and I am more than happy to see him back at his side.

Hurray for Eun Soo getting well! But treating poison with poison was a risky move, and yep, she needed a lot of faith that she would get that one shot at getting cured.

Noguk is the perfect queen that complements King Gongnim. She’s not afraid to speak her mind, and would not hesitate giving her total support to him. It was heartwarming to watch their love blossom throughout the drama.

So Ki Chul is back to the top spot of baddies. His greediness is frightening really, and thank goodness the portal won’t let him through. And I must say, I was quite relieved that fire lady and flute guy are no more. Clever thinking for Dae Man beating fire lady with wet cloth.

Finally, Choi Young asks Eun Soo the question, “Then now you’re going to stay with me?” And lovely scene when they’re in bed and are gazing lovingly at each other. “I’m trying to remember this moment, now that I don’t have to try to forget you.” I’m so happy for Choi Young for finally being able to say that. But during those scenes, I felt that something would tear them apart again. And true enough, as they are separated by something one may not even comprehend.

When Eun Soo was shoved in by Ki Chul through the portal, I expected her to immediately come back right through. But she headed to the hospital and took some supplies to cure Choi Young. I gave a comment last episode that I felt the story is coming in full circle, and I see that here, too, with Eun Soo getting hospital supplies to take back to Goryeo world. Well, not only in a full circle, but more like a loop, as it is finally revealed that Eun Soo is Hwa Ta herself, who has been thrown off to a period a hundred years earlier. So it turns out Hwa Ta was not merely there to cure people, but she’s motivated really to help bridge the fate of Choi Young with hers. Hence her leaving the diary for her future self, including the film canister which I think is a perfect way to preserve a note underneath a rock for years, but also a chilling way in a period years before the camera was even invented.

I love how Choi Young wasn’t even surprised to see Eun Soo back. He kept the faith that she will come back for him, as she already answered ‘yes’ to his question of her staying with him.

Despite its budget problems, among others, I see why Faith is endearing to most fans. The story revolves around the love between Choi Young and Eun Soo, and the way it slowly unfolds is captivating to watch. From the transformation of indifferent and unmotivated Choi Young to a protecting and loving partner for Eun Soo, to the choosing of Eun Soo to stay in a foreign world to be with her loved one, are testaments to our imja couple learning, not merely to be alive, but how to actually live their lives. And most importantly, having faith that their love is strong enough to transcend both time and space.

This is the continuing thoughts from Ep 24 where ES overhead the group of Wuldachis' talking about Daejang in the inn. While running all the way to the oak tree, ES can’t stop thinking and this is what being played inside her mind…

Is it really him waiting for me ? that he never forgets me after so long ? Just as my mind is trying to convince me not to have high hope, my heart roars its denial shutting my mind up.

ES runs and finally sees that hugh oak tree unchanged, she stopped for a moment while the pain clenches in her heart again, the place she last saw him, helpless image of CY lying frozen unable to move still haunt her till today.

As ES gets nearer, she saw a man back facing her, wearing the Goryeo armour, her heart starts to beat faster as she gets closer. When CY slowly turns upon hearing footsteps and sees ES, time stopped in that moment, as if the whole world has frozen. The feeling was so overwhelming that tears fills ES eyes almost blinding her sight, her legs chained to the ground unable to move as CY walks slowly towards her.

When CY reaches,he slowly raises his hand untying ES hat, taking it off as his teary eyes never leave hers and his heart pumping with happiness to see his belove ES , he has Faith that she would return to him one day. His slow and steady hand gently follows the length of her hair down to the shoulders. ES was mesmerized and stopped breathing subconsciously, face leans on his hand and feels his fingers on her cheek. ES could feels his first gentle touch after so much longing, smile softens while eyes traces his features with his new bearded looks.

Before ES has the chance to voice out, she could feels his soft hands on her shoulder, pulling her in his embrace and caressing her. ES burst out in sobs and his soft voice whisper telling her how much he misses her all these years.

CY slowly lift up ES face, those magnetic warm eyes and gaze of his have the power of chaining ES, preventing & keeping her from doing anything else than just looking at him. CY tenderly guides to where he was sitting before under the oak tree, his arm rests behind her soft silky neck drawing her in his embrace, nestling her head on his armored shoulder and his hands keep stroking her long shining hair.

CY lips brushes her forehead as he speaks softly telling ES he had to survive;had to live waiting for her to come back as his low voice would matched by a soft stroke on her hair. ES try to hold back new tears as he hugged her fiercely in his arms, rush by new emotions which makes her forgets to breath.

CY continue telling ES that all these years, he never forgets her. The jars of antidote, her cloths, the smell of yellow mums, the bottle of aspirin, the comb she used, are all kept safely in his room. There were times where he would wake up during the night to cherish those things that belongs to her.

As ES could feel tears flowing down her cheeks, her eyes finally raise to look at him, slowly bitting her lips trying to regain some composure, closing her eyes to fight back the tears and opening them up again. CY stare is intent as his eyes looking for any sign of new tears as he speaks again, his strong controlled voice…. answer me, never again you leave me… as ES slowly nod, Yes….. Daejang…. I am back and will never part from you again. CY lips open in sweet smile while his thumbs softly brush her cheeks drying up the tears.

Slowly,CY eyes clench tight, one tear finally falls down as the slow drop leaves his eyes falling down until it stops on the corner of his mouth. CY whispers.. Imja..I love you !

While I was housekeeping my hardisk, found below poem which I twit a little and would like to share here.

d9505VK.jpg

I search for you in the passages of time and space

I wait in silence under this moonlit night

Beneath this tired tree will witness my longing

I feel the gentle breeze upon my face

Your fingers softly trace my lips

I gaze upon your face with love

How can I slowly ease this ache upon my heart

Sweet silence, may I lay my tears, my fears

I rest my weary soul, my heavy sword

I wait in hope and longing,by heaven's door I stand

To cross this threshold of Faith

I hear your footsteps tread slowly

Into my waiting heart.

I've taken some parts of the script in the first half of Episode 23 that were omitted from the televised series and added them to the recap/adaptation of Faith. If interested, here's the link:

I love this gif of CY in all his long-haired glory, on his way with Eun-soo to Gangwha Island.

Msdot, thanks for the interesting and detailed story! I was very worried about the episode with the sword and hand of the general. I understand what a tragedy it is for a strong man-warrior to suddenly feel his weakness and understand that he will not be able to protect his beloved woman! It is a real shock to lose your gift. Therefore, it is not surprising that Dezhang's teacher preferred death at the hands of a drunken king. It is good that Dezhang turned out to be a more spiritually strong and courageous person and did not break down from this misfortune.
