That's strange.  I could see her gif and images 2 hours ago before I commented below her.  I noticed that in our +/- thread, few gifs were missing too.  @msdot's ones still visible - press time   @Thong Thin

Oh no.

What exactly is happening.

I am using Google Chrome to access Soompi and all my images and gifs are stored in my own Google photos.

I checked back my own post for ep19 all images and gifs are intact.

Epi 19 the smile Daejang gave to ES - under the tree, under the tree

Those days, they rest in inns, if they pass by a village / town or rest under some shades on the ground, along with their pre-packed food and water for long journey.  Wonder where do they go when there is a call of nature.   Now, we have rest and relax stops / rest areas located in highways, equipped with public toilet, restaurants, fruit / snack stalls, fuel station and convenience stores.

I usually use Safari but just now I went to this site using Chrome to see if I can see your images using that browser. Nope. I still can’t see your images; instead I see the box with a minus sign in it. You might try using another image upload site like Imgur to see if that makes a difference.

OK, I have a picky question about something that happens in Episode 18. Eun-soo is trying to cheer Young up and shows him several papers on which she's written phrases in Hangul. As she holds each one up she tells him what they say, but what's written is actually a little different than what she tells him:

What's written (as translated by Viki):

Sheet 1: It's Okay

Sheet 2: I'll be by your side

Sheet 3: Until that day

Sheet 4: Can I?, or, Is that all right?

What she said (also Viki):

Sheet 1: It's Okay

Sheet 2: Don't worry

Sheet 3: Everything will be all right

Sheet 4: Right?

What she's written is more personal, wanting to be by his side. Why do you think she changed the meaning a bit? I thought perhaps she didn't want to remind him of her leaving, but I think it would have warmed his heart more to think of her being by his side. What's your take on it? Is the difference trivial or meaningful?

I have re-post my images and gif for EP 19.

Can you kindly check if they are visible ?

Yes, I can see them! Some of them were very slow to load. The ones I could see right away were gifs. I don't know if this would help, but I typically resize my images for Soompi to 512 x 288. They seem to load very fast.

I just had to show this image again. It's from Episode 19, when Young is slowly walking down the steps of their room to take on two assassins, and he's deadly serious. He's so gorgeous in this shot!

The other image that sticks in my mind from this episode is the BTS video where Mr. 187 cm. tall hits his head on the doorway going out and falls down flat! Kim Hee-sun also collapses, but in laughter!

- and I screamed like this when watching CY-ES kissing ~~~> ARGHHHHHHHHHHH :scream: it was feel like I wanted to jumped inside my pc and push their bodies to be closer and closer in this scene hahahaaa

- I also remember 8 years ago people analyzed the scene where CY runs to ES HAHAHAHAHA. I forget who type so many pages only to talk about this scene lol. On Soompi and admin jominz fb LOL could not believe how we were able to analyze even this one scene and interpret it to many paraghraps HAHAHAHAHHA

- I remember again in ep 18, I posted something about CY-ES back hug 8 years ago. I wrote that they need to stand more closer like 5-4 cm. Their space in that back hug scene is about 8-10 cm. HAHAHA.

- I like CY's idea of run away with ES. I love any idea where young couple want to run away together HAHAHA

@H0ney  You make me laugh and smile a lot on your present recap.  Wish I could back-read those 8-yo ago pages.   You are so adorably cute! :fullofhearts:and sorry to cut your post.

Gongnim is wise to measure up Deok Heung’s character as a king by asking him on the most important thing for him than his country. As Choi Young and Noguk have told him that love is more important than their own country, he concludes that he will be a better king than selfish Deok Heung will ever be.

Choi Young’s brilliance as a general is seen in this episode. He is able to maneuver discreetly and convince the royal guards to jump ship. He is also able to command the guards to escort the king back safely to the palace. Most importantly, he claims responsibility for the death of his own men.

Spoiler

zGGJPpC.gif

Coming from his indifferent, unmotivated self in the first part of the drama, Choi Young has come a long way, now that he is able to determine and articulate what matters to him the most. His actions have been motivated anyway for the good of Eun Soo, but to be able to articulate that, to the king nonetheless, is a remarkable growth in his character.

Spoiler

VHBiUj6.gif

No wonder he got upset when Eun Soo kept her poisoning from him. The walls around him have completely tumbled down because of her, so her still being distant to him breaks his heart. Aww, our general falling in love is such a sight to see.

May I dwell on Minho’s facial expressions which are spot on in portraying Choi Young’s emotions. Even the tiniest gestures, and mere eye expression at that, convey so much feeling. It is a delight to watch their love story unfold through these subtle yet powerful emotions.

Finally, the matter of whether Eun Soo should stay or go has been brought up. All this time, Choi Young has been directed towards bringing Eun Soo back to heaven, as he promised, but she is now considering staying with him. The connection between them is getting stronger, and as the opening of the gates approaches, their talk of whether Eun Soo should stay or go is inevitable.

@syntyche What toooook you so long?

Good to see you here!    He doesn't have to speak much.   When he swallows (adam apple note), the way he tilts his head and especially his eyes-  those offer us a glimpse of his thoughts, his emotions.   LMH is perfect as Daejang.

Heartwarming moment for Gongnim and Noguk. He has overflowing emotions upon learning of her pregnancy. Him saying "thank you" is simple yet heartfelt.

Eun Soo sure has turned Choi Young's life around - he's willing to drop everything and run away with her. In his seven years of living in the palace, he can remember nothing very special about it. And the two days of them running away were the only days when he was able to do something of his will. Indifferent and unmotivated Choi Young has finally found the meaning for his life.

So future Eun Soo is dropping clues for current Eun Soo. That plastic film container sure came from the future, and future her traveled back in time to leave that and other clues for current Eun Soo - and it sure has something to do with Choi Young and the future.

Thoughts on Episode 20

We start with Young holding Eun-soo, who is stunned by finding a message addressed to her, apparently from herself 100 years in the past, but the writer refers to herself as Eun-soo in the future: it’s all quite puzzling and overwhelming to her. Finally Young urges her to tell him what’s wrong, and she begins to tell him that the Queen is in danger. When she tells him where she found the message, anyone else would think it ridiculous, but Young says he believes her. It’s part of why she loves him: that when it really counts he has complete faith in her.

After they go to a nearby village to check for news, we see that Young has been growing more and more reluctant to kill people. In an earlier episode, for example, Young spoke about it to himself and one of the waiting Chisal assassins. When he stole the royal seal and fought the Woodalchi, and later the royal soldiers when he confronted Prince Hyung, he was careful not to permanently injure any of them. In his flight with Eun-soo, he just wounded the four men who attacked him in the inn, later killing only those who were skilled and out for blood. Now he only wounds a young attacker and leaves him in Eun-soo’s care, and then goes to confront a serious assassin from the Yuan envoy. Young defeats him and even lets him go. As he returned to really living and then fell in love with Eun-soo, he has grown tremendously and can no longer numbly cut men down. It’s a personal and career crisis for Young, a man who, in the service of Goryeo’s kings, lost count long ago of those who have died at his hand. At the moment he doesn’t get much help from Eun-soo with this, who only tells him that it makes her feel guilty.

Eun-soo insists on returning to the capital city, even when Young reveals that the Yuan envoy wants her executed. Once they return, they learn of the Queen’s kidnapping and Young goes to the King. The conversation between Young and the broken-hearted King is quite something. Young doesn’t let the King wallow and finds ways to keep reminding him that he’s the King, infusing him with his own strength of will and courage. The King recovers himself and, even while the Queen is still missing, stands up to the Yuan envoy, telling him that he won’t meet his conditions, and that Goryeo will fight to maintain its independence. Good for him!

Between Eun-soo’s trick with Prince Hyung and Young directing that anyone coming out of the Prince’s quarters be followed, they soon find and rescue the Queen. Unfortunately the drugs used on the Queen to keep her quiet cause her to miscarry their child. There is such a sweet scene between the King and Queen when he comforts her in their loss. And when Eun-soo comes out of the Queen’s chamber and needs to mourn, Young steps in front of her, taking her hand in his, giving her the privacy to lean on his broad back to cry. It’s such a subtle but tender, caring thing to do for her. These two scenes have no dialogue, and with such love displayed, none is needed.

I liked two other contrasting scenes quite a bit. In the first, Young and Ahn Jae talk about Young’s teacher and how his sword became heavy, so heavy that he let himself die at the King’s hand. It’s a stark reminder to Young of how his own life could end.

The last scene is immensely entertaining, as Eun-soo decides to hide in the safest place in Goryeo, right next to Young. Eun-soo is hilarious as she tries to tell Young how she can be useful as a Woodalchi and not be a bother. Young keeps her guessing about how he feels about her joining the Woodalchi until he’s right next to her. His slow smile as he finally leans over her is just wonderful!

So sad, he sacrificed so much all those years, serving the king and country that he has forgotten himself, his own needs (after the heartbreaking incidents of both his master and lover).  Well, the "heaven" (heavenly God) has a way of healing you with love.  CY's love and life is ES.

finally caught up on ep 18. @msdot ~ can see why some viewers were complaining when she got poisoned again. it does feel like we are running around in circles. reminded me of the first anime I watched years ago and drove me nuts -- fushigi yuigi. does anyone remember that? why does everyone want eui seon when she basically hasn't revealed much about the future or knows much of anything? the problem is that there is no urgency to anything...

started cracking up when the king was so disappointed that daejang bluntly said that it is all about eui seon for him and he doesn't really care about goryeo. LOL. yea, with such a useless king where daejang has to be the one to use his brain, why would he care all the time about the king? and the queen was dryly amusing as daejang when she said she doesn't care about countries either. it made me laugh when king said queen was like daejang -- maybe they should have paired up these two! hahahah.... wish the king would do some actual maneuvering because so far, he is so useless. no wonder generals those days just overthrew the kings and took over... but daejang is right -- if he doesn't care about goryeo, then it is time to quit his post and move on with his life.
