@msdot  @syntyche @Thong Thin Loved your review, beautiful. Nothing to add to it. Love the dynamics between CY and ES, CY and Lady Choi. ES babbling about the boy killing CY in the future. So many intrigues and stuff happening between CY and ES.  LMH looks gorgeous here.

@Lmangla @msdot  @mademoisellesia faithlings ---  I read that  most K-actors do their own stunt - did LMH does all the fightings and jumping in Faith?

LMH does some of the stunts but the high flying and certain stunts were done by a stuntman and a few of them were very apparent and you know it was not LMH. Some sword fights were not his too but quite a number was done by LMH himself. The one above is by LMH.  I can tell mostly which one was done by him and which one wasn't.  I like the ones he did himself.

Thoughts on Episode 11

In this episode there are scenes where Choi Young shows his gentleness, heroism, loyalty, and vulnerability. I loved it! There’s such a tender moment in the first part of this episode, when Choi Young wipes the blood from Eun-soo’s ear. He’s so gentle and caring with her; I found it very touching. Then, in a flash it’s gone as Hwa-su-in fingers him for the first of three people precious to Eun-soo to be murdered as part of Ki Chul’s campaign to “tame” her. Horrified that her relationship with him has yet again put him in danger, Eun-soo brusquely pushes him away. He’s hurt but has so much to do he can’t dwell on it. And then her eyes follow him as he looks so gallant on a horse, flying back to the palace to protect the King. Sigh.

q0MMqwr.jpg

Back at the palace, the King defies Ki Chul’s attempt to tame him as well, asserting that he’ll continue to recruit new advisors. Ki Chul is so angry that he stalks toward the King, but Young intercepts him. My take on this encounter is that Choi Young’s powers were greatly weakened by the extensive use he made of them so soon after his illness at Ki Chul’s house and then on Gangwha Island. Dr. Jang had earlier warned him about that. So he’s no match for Ki Chul’s freezing power. He protects the King by absorbing Ki Chul‘s freezing energy as it spreads on his shoulder, and he will stay there even if it kills him. Who cannot admire Choi Young’s bravery and steadfast loyalty?!

sfZCBBw.png?2

After this confrontation there's a sweet moment between the King and Queen, as the King rushes to her chambers and pulls her out, telling her she’ll stay with him until her safety can be assured. After a few minutes he realizes he’s dragging her along, quite unbecoming to royal dignity, and stops. But she readily assents to staying with him; he’s surprised and happy to hear that. I laughed when Lady Choi literally yanks Choon-sik back and cautions all the retinue to stay well back of the reconciling royal couple. She can also push Choi Young around, a lady not to be messed with!

Spoiler

JG6laVA.png

The King’s and Young’s friendship continues to grow, even when they’re arguing about Eun-soo and the advisors. They also have a quiet moment together where Young tells the King that he let Eun-soo go and then sweetly notices that the Queen is staying with the King, which the King shyly acknowledges with a smile.

Spoiler

VGwiAxh.png?1

During Choi Young’s meeting with the scholars, we learn a little more about why he’s so unattached to money or wealth; his father taught him to regard gold as only a common stone, worth nothing. His forthrightness convinces them to come to the King’s service. He tells them he chose to serve the King because the King feels shame, and the scholar says they’ll protect that shame as the King’s advisors. I assume that means the King has a conscience and strives to do the right thing, but those with sovereign power can easily lose their way unless advised by good people.

Spoiler

Fer8px3.png

Eun-soo, continuing to be deathly afraid of changing the future as well as being afraid for Young, decides to leave on her own. He tracks her down, but she again pushes him away, telling him that even if he drags her back, she’ll run away again. She wants to dissolve the vow he made to protect her. Eventually, with a heavy heart, he lets her go.

Spoiler

DgcDUBU.png

aHj19qF.png?1

Later he tells his aunt that even she doesn’t think he can protect the King well, and neither May Hee or Eun Soo believed that he could protect them. That leads him to decide on a drastic step, putting his own life on the line to remove Ki Chul. I was very touched by the scene where he looks at the throne, remembering times when the King showed his faith in and friendship for Young, and then bows deeply before leaving. he just looks stunning here.

Spoiler

l0qWXdi.png?1

73T35ns.png?1

Eun-soo learns more about Young, that the tragedy that affected him so much wasn’t just the king killing his master but also losing his first love to suicide. Lady Choi makes her understand how deeply Young feels her lack of trust in him to protect her, a huge vulnerability in him. His planned action is somewhat rational; if he can remove Ki Chul a major threat will be eliminated. But he is still taking his own life too lightly. His high-risk “frontal breakthrough” tactics will eventually kill him unless he finds some other way to deal with serious problems. It’s something I find very appealing in this character: the tension between the tough warrior who’s used to risking his life almost carelessly, and the protective, sweet soul that yearns to live and love.

Thank you again @msdot - very well written :)  There was a scene ES asked him whether he could defeat GC and he said he'd probably lose.  One of the reasons why she chose to run away from the palace, to protect him.  Another was because of herself.

This scene is funny.   ES really didn't want to burden him.  She was so brave.

Thanks, @Min2206, for your comments. Choi Young is an old man by the time he meets his end, but still...! I enjoyed reading that Choi Young said at the time of his death that his execution was unjust, and that no grass would grow on his grave. Evidently no grass did grow there until the 1970’s! Just think of the respect for him down through the centuries to make sure his prediction stayed true!

Hello my Faithlings!! Soon, we will be watching episode 12 (one of my favorite episode) or are we already on episode 12 lol.

in episode 10, from my memory, is the scene where ES is running away from KC’s men and she actually gets injured by Flute Guy’s music. Not severely injured but her ear bleeds a little and Daejang wipes it for her upon seeing it. ES is still upset at Daejang so she pushes his hand away.

honestly, i like these small concern gestures from Daejang. It’s fair to say he already likes her secretly and cannot bear to see her hurt. And even more, he still does his best to protect her even when she is angry at him. ES also cares about him because he is the one who brought her to his world and the only one she has come to know that will protect her endlessly. But she still has to understand him even more. Daejang carries a lot of burden on his duties and past, and ES seems to be quick in anger when she doesn’t understand the choices Daejang makes. But of course, this will begin to change :D we already see her ways of protecting Daejang too. Awwwww!! These two!

i also feel bad for ES. She keeps getting used as a pawn to King Gongmin and KC. She is so involved in the political struggles of these two that I don’t blame her for wanting to run away. I would hate being the middle person of a power struggle. This is also why i love Daejang. He understands ES is being used as a pawn and this is why he wants her protected and returned home asap (as the means to keep his promise and keep her away from the ones who are misusing her heavenly status).

these prior episodes also mirror one of my favorite hairstyles of Daejang:

zYa-Ckn27BelOTh52-9upMBaMtt87tTaXmKhODO7

omg! Thanks @Thong Thin for this pic. Daejang is incredibly handsome with the hairstyle like this! It makes him look even more mature to me. In the beginning, his hair was a bit more messy and almost like a child who didn’t comb his hair haha. But this is more clean and tied back with that side bang. Omg! Hot! I think this is the style we named “glory of mane.”

@Lmangla yes, KC is internally sick (like energy wise since he is also able to use energy power like Daejang). This is why he is so interested in ES since she is the heavenly doctor. He believes ES is the key to his recovery and especially if he gets to step into the heavenly world, he would have a chance of healing. He also keeps asking ES to heal him but she doesn’t exactly know what’s going on with him internally since she can’t check his vitals and have him get daily checkups or get xrays/scans done lol.

@Min2206 haha, we call him Noodles because he is always around Daejang, wiggling his way around him because he is interested. Honestly, I love Noodles as a side character :joy:

Edit:

wait are we already on episode 12? Lol. I didn’t want to spoil my favorite scenes if we haven’t watched it yet haha.

Love all your reviews, @msdot  @honey @vangsweetie637 @Min2206

Episode 11,

I also like the part where LSG, the child wants to touch CY’s sword and CY admonished him not to covet other men’s sword. He tells ES that he did not think the boy would kill him one day.

I just love the part where CY asked ES why does she not smile anymore. Is it that she just does not smile in front of him?  I found that scene so poignant and so sad for him.  He notices her unsmiling face and misses her smiles.

Yes, CY has no lust for power or gold. Just loyalty to country.

His conversation with his aunt about it is time he met May Hee before he forgets her face.  He is actually one confused puppy, he no longer loves or misses May Hee but not willing to face the fact that he is totally already in love with ES.

That she left and does not need him, he thought he should sacrifice himself if he could kill ki Chul and the king and ES would be safe and not really need him anymore to protect them.  That ES rejected his protection devastated him.  His aunt is very sharp and knows what he is thinking and rightly feels ES is the best person to stop him from his rash act.  As she rushes to tell her her fears about CY's plans.

Episode 11

N5Xc9_62TH2YgH2Y-kp_Ztsvpl1EfXUUn0fZpOCH

Beginning scene shows the caring and gentle side of General CY.

Choi Young looks worried when he sees injured Eun Soo's. With soft & gentle care, CY wipes the blood off from ES’s ear . CY looks hurt when ES rejected and push his hand away.

CY tried to use his “nae gong” but has no match against GC power.

GC walks off with nary a scratch but CY gets a burn shoulder.

Next we see the relationship between King GM & Queen NG sparks one level up !.

Upon knowing the Queen safety, King GM rushes to Queen chamber to pull her out, telling her she will stay at his palace.  First, the King was smiling when he was walking hand-in-hand with the Queen without realising there are people around, then he shys away from holdng her hand…..love this lovey-dovey couple.

okkPGA_hfqA3WQIdf2dtPTlGr7_wTgCon_NEPIdr

This whole conversation is ES way of assessing and confirming her fears. For her, it's all about what's best for CY! She knows he is busy with his duty to the king. She also confirmed that no matter what happens, even if he loses his life, CY will protect her because of his vow to her.

So she made a conscious decision to leave to protect him.

A pretty picture with CY partly hidden by the shrubs and flowers stalking ES.

It's so hilarious that ES thinks her disguise in commonner cloths is perfect and even makes an effort to sound like a man, only to be recognized at the very first instant by CY.

CY listens attentively to what ES has to say. He doesn’t want to let her go because of the danger she might face, not to mention his growing affection for her.

Here, ES is trying to seal their agreement of ending CY's vow with a handshake. But instead CY grabs her hand and drags her back telling her that since it is a vow he made, only he can end it.

ES grabbed back her pink bag. CY doesn't let go of it.He is probably assessing the situation.

But after  some thoughts he slowly let go of the bag and with a heavy heart CY lets ES walked away.

The hurt in CY's eyes just drives you to tears. He had to let her go. He has his duty and he couldn't personally escort her at the moment. But he knew as well that she needed to be away to be safe. His actions shows his care & love for her. But his thoughts are still in denial. Hiding behind the "vow".

This scene is very heartwarming. I can almost feel CY's sincerity oozing from his words as he speaks to the elder sitting opposite him and he's got a very earnest gaze. CY in deep thought and realises how heavy the sword is as he understands what it means to go through life with all the burdens that he is carrying.

I was sniffling at the scene where CY dresses as commoner looks at the throne recalling back the times when King GM has Faith and Trust in him and how their friendship grows.

Since his aunty thinks he can’t protect King GM and  neither ES or his first love finds is impossible for CY to protect them, CY decides to take the final step, ie, to have a showdown with GC.

Before he leaves the palace, he bows deeply at the throne. Is so poignant and sad scene...

This scene is depressing and CY is at breaking point.

LC found ES and told her that it is indeed because of her that CY now has a reason to live again, and because she told him that she doesn't need him anymore he's back to someone who seeks death again.... And that's when ES finally realized what she means to CY.

This scene is depressing and CY is at breaking point.

CY confessing that he cannot remember his first love's face and hopes to go to Heaven as quickly as possible before he totally forgets her. The angst in his eyes.......

It's quite interesting CY gazes at the moon for a moment before embarking on his death quest with  GC.

It's the first time he looks so pensive .

You are right, I wrote it in word earlier and pasted it when Wednesday came.  I did the same when we collaborated on LMH's event but you did not mention anything. So should my post be red in word or red in soompi?

  • Is this better?

Yes, now your post is clear and readble.

Indeed CY was in a lost & confused where all his efforts to protect ES was rejected and his Aunt no longer

have faith in him if he can protect the King.

Reposting @CallieP thoughts above ...  hope you don't mind

and @Thong Thin - your views are always so moving.  Like the last pic on Daejang looking up to the moon, pensively.

Thank you Min.

In dark mode your text is now red with a white background, very easy to read. To answer your question, I've done both. I now write my episode thoughts in Word in green and then just paste it in. But I've also pasted it in as black text and then changed the font color in Soompi. @Lmangla at one time also suggested the alternative of using a white or light background color and black text, which can be done either in Word or Soompi as well.
