8 Must-Watch K-Dramas Of 2020 So Far

2020 has been a pretty difficult year—and we’re only halfway done—but K-dramas serve as a momentary escape that helps us heal and de-stress a bit. And although 2020 hasn’t been the greatest of times, in the world of K-dramas, it’s been pretty darn good. Here’s are eight K-dramas from this year that are definite must-watches!

1. “Crash Landing on You”

Hyun Bin stars as the North Korean soldier Ri Jung Hyuk, who people can’t seem to get enough of these days, and Son Ye Jin plays the beautiful and charismatic Yoon Se Ri. In a freak accident while paragliding, Yoon Se Ri stumbles into North Korean territory where she meets Ri Jung Hyuk. He takes it upon himself to watch over her while he figures out a way to get her back to South Korea.

2020 was off to a great star in K-dramaland with “Crash Landing on You” coming into the new year as we were consistently blessed with the wonderful chemistry between Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin. It is so romantic seeing the plot between a North Korean soldier and his beautiful rich actress unfold, and their love story consists of the perfect balance of sweetness, sadness, and some good humor. The drama is even more entertaining to follow with the romance of Seo Ji Hye and Kim Jung Hyun as well as the comedic relief provided by other supporting characters.

Korean Film “The Negotiations” to Resume Filming in Jordan

Amman – 8 July 2020

A Korean film crew arrived to Jordan at Queen Alia International Airport on Saturday 5th July, in preparation for the shoot of a feature-length narrative “The Negotiations”.

The film is scheduled to start its shoot by mid-August and scenes will be shot in different locations in the Kingdom. The production flew overseas back to Jordan after it had suspended its activities in the country in March, with the global outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The foreign cast and crew will abide by the filming guidelines, which the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) issued last month, specifically for the audio-visual sector detailing safety and precautionary measures. These guidelines aim to secure a secure working, taking into consideration the health regulations implemented in the country.

The RFC has cooperated with various Governmental entities, in particular with The National Center for Security and Crises Management, to make the travel, stay and work of the crew possible. Procedures on set apply to any local or foreign production and are meant to ensure their safety while allowing the industry to operate during these peculiar times.

Mohannad Al-Bakri, the RFC’s Managing Director, commented: “With the current global health situation, the return of such a big production to film in Jordan is a proof that the country is ready and safe enough to open up for filming again. We are very proud that Jordan is today amongst a few other countries in the world, where the audiovisual activity has resumed within a clear system of procedures.”

“The Negotiations” is directed by a leading female auteur of Korean New Wave cinema: Yim Soon-rye. Starring Korean top actors - Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin - the story is based on true events in 2007, when 23 Koreans were kidnapped in Afghanistan.

9 K-Drama Love Triangles That Break Our Hearts

No K-Drama is complete without a heartbreaking love triangle that forces us to pick sides and yell at the TV.

K-Drama is a brilliant and zestful world that can make you ride a rollercoaster of emotions with every riveting scene. One moment we find ourselves laughing at their witty banter, and the next moment, they’ve got us sitting in a puddle of our own tears.

K-Dramas drive us crazy, but let’s face it, that’s why we love them the way we do.

For this list of fictional love triangles, we advise that you prepare your hearts, as they are about to be set aflutter. Be warned though, because after giving you butterflies, we’re going to break your hearts into little pieces by making you choose sides in true K-Drama style!

#3 Crash Landing On You

Traveling back to the present time, we have the most spectacular power couple the world has ever seen, Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin) and Captain Ri Jeong Hyuk (Hyun Bin). Once upon a time, there is a high profile entrepreneur with an attitude and an elite special forces captain who live on opposite sides of the Korean border.

By the works of serendipity, these two beautiful souls manage to find each other in the midst of all the hardships and turmoil. Based on their bizarre encounter, you would not expect this unlikely pair to be each other’s soulmates, but they definitely are. Throughout the enthralling run of the series, our lovable leads wind up in love triangles of their own courtesy of Seo Dan (Seo Ji Hye) and Goo Seung Jun (Kim Jung Hyun). Despite their interference, we’ve got to admit that it is impossible to hate them. (On a side note, we ship Seo Dan and Goo Seung Jun as a couple! *Cue the ugly crying.)

Crash Landing On You is solid proof that it’s true what they say: not every storm comes to wreak havoc, some come to clear your path to lead you in the right direction.

hl science photoshoot behind the scenes

Bargaining update. HB is flying out on July 13.

Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin depart for Jordan on the 13th to film Im Soon-rye's'negotiation'.

According to the film industry on the 10th,'negotiation' teams including Hwang Jung-min and Hyun Bin departed to Jordan on a charter on the morning of the 13th, and after a quarantine period in the field, they began filming. Earlier, the staff left for Jordan on the 4th and are preparing for filming while spending a quarantine period.

As a result, Hwang Jung-min was unable to do the press preview and related publicity schedule for the movie 'Deliver Us from Evil', which will be released on August 5th. Hwang Jung-min said that he was unable to promote 'Deliver Us from Evil' by filming'Negotiation', so he recorded early entertainment programs including'Amazing Saturday' and radio appearances. It is said that the 'Deliver Us from Evil' also spared consideration for Hwang Jung-min as he knew the difficult situation of'negotiation'.

'Negotiation' is a work about the rescue of those kidnapped by the abduction of Koreans in the Middle East. Director Im Soon-rye, who directed'The Best Moments of Our Life' and'Little Forest', caught the megaphone, and Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung-min appeared on the topic.

Originally,'negotiation' was planned to start shooting in Jordan at the end of March, but due to the Corona 19 incident, local shooting was unsuccessful as the Jordanian government banned Koreans from entering Korea. So'negotiation' The team began filming in South Korea, and after continuing discussions with the Jordanian government, it was finally allowed to shoot for 2-3 months from July. This is because of the Jordanian government's trust in K-defense, which has led to active cooperation and support.

As a result,'Negotiation' was the first Korean film to be filmed overseas due to the spread of Corona 19. ''

Each actor, such as Hwang Jung-min and Hyun-bin, plans to stay in the country for 2 to 3 months, depending on the amount of filming, and then return to the country. The negotiations will be taken safely in compliance with the Jordanian government's quarantine guidelines.

5 K-dramas that will make you long for an unrealistic boyfriend

Romantic Korean dramas, or K-dramas, are known for their portrayals of the nearly perfect male protagonist.

Popular shows such as Boys of Flowers (2009) and Secret Garden (2010) present heroic male characters that are attractive, smart, rich and slightly arrogant – traits that apparently aim to appeal to viewers.

More recent K-dramas have modified the formula, making their characters more relatable while still having the ability to charm and plant butterflies in viewers' stomachs.

Some characters, however, appear to be a little too perfect, having unbelievably good genes and every possible good trait known to mankind.

These unrealistic characters may be products of the imagination, but the K-dramas that feature them sure know how to make you long for their real-life counterparts, if they even exist.

If you're up for the ride, dream away with the gentlemen listed below.

Crash Landing on You

Crash Landing on You was among the most popular K-dramas in South Korea in late 2019.

Following a paragliding mishap, South Korean heiress Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) falls on the north side of the Korean Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) and lands in the arms of handsome North Korean army officer Captain Ri Jung Hyuk (Hyun Bin). Although Captain Ri lives a humble life as an army officer, he’s actually the son in a powerful family.

As he tries to help Se-ri get out of North Korea, the two realise their feelings for one another.

Captain Ri can be considered one of the most lovable characters in South Korean dramas. In the beginning, he seems aloof and cold as he talks in curt, short sentences. But things begin to change when he is shown putting in the time and effort to look for personal care products for Se-ri on the black market. From then on, the charming captain’s sweet and thoughtful gestures have the ability to make most viewers swoon.

Topped with a glimpse of life in North Korea and Captain Ri’s team of soldiers who lend a humorous touch, it’s no surprise that the series’ last episode managed to break South Korean network TVN’s record in February with an average rating of 21.68 per cent.

He has left for Jordan! Safe travels! He is so tanned. Even has a mustache for his role now.

Actor Hyun-bin is checking the fever before leaving for Jordan through Incheon International Airport on the night of the 12th shooting of the movie'Negotiation'.

Actresses including Hwang Jung-min and Hyun-bin begin filming after 8 days of containment of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) after arriving in Jordan.

In the beginning,'negotiation' was planned to start shooting in Jordan in March, but Corona 19 caused local shooting to fail. 'Negotiation' is not only the first Korean film to go abroad after Corona 19, but it is also the world's first filming in Jordan.

Meanwhile,'Negotiation' (Director Im Soon-rye) contains the story of diplomats and agents of the NIS who are struggling to rescue the kidnapped Koreans from the Middle East.
