It shows the power of Korean cinema.

The movie 'Negotiation (directed by Lim Soon-rye)' maintained its No. 1 spot at the Korean box office in its second week of release.

'Negotiation' is a film depicting the negotiating operation between a diplomat and a local NIS agent who went to Afghanistan to save Koreans who were held hostage by the Taliban in the worst kidnapping case.

According to the Korea Film Promotion Commission's integrated computer network for movie theatre tickets, as of 7:00 am on January 30th, 'Negotiation' mobilized 205,523 people over the weekend and recorded a cumulative audience of 1,439,964 on the second week of release, ranking first in Korean film box office and continuing its long-term box office success.

The heartfelt synergy of Hwang Jung-min, Hyun Bin, and Kang Ki-young, who are engaged in an impossible bargaining operation, and the solid acting ensemble, as well as the vast scenery unfolding on the screen as the first Korean film to be set in Jordan, led the hearts of the audience.

The audiences said, 'The movie is thrilling and spectacular' 'Actors' acting ability that allows them to focus on the negotiation itself' 'Flawless directing and actors' acting' 'The feeling of immersion towards the end is amazing. The action scenes really need to be seen in a movie theater to be said to have been seen properly.”

*** "The Point Men" is an action crime thriller genre movie. The melodramas and even romantic comedies that used to be a Korean staple across Asia are getting difficult to find in movie theaters in SK. The genre itself appears to be on its way out. I guess demand still exists for the genre. It is only that viewing habits have changed. Many melodramas do never even hit theaters unless they win awards at international film festivals or have other outstanding artistic value. Most prefer action blockbusters. That's why, this is the reason why this movie is a box-office HIT!   :twerk2:

The movie 'Negotiation' has released a secondary character poster with an urgent atmosphere.

The character poster, released on the 30th, catches the eye with the appearance of three different people working on an impossible bargaining operation to rescue the hostages.

The poster of Jeong Jae-ho (Hwang Jung-min), a diplomat specializing in negotiations who headed to Afghanistan to resolve the kidnapping case, creates tension by capturing the moment he risked his life to face the Taliban. The line "I can't give up" reveals Jaeho's strong will and sincerity to save the lives of hostages rather than the Ministry of Foreign Affairs principles he adhered to.

The poster of Park Dae-sik (Hyun Bin), an NIS agent specializing in the Middle East and Central Asia who is trying to rescue hostages at all costs, shows him heading somewhere in a tense atmosphere and saying, “Then let me go. It blends with the copy, "I'll go", arousing curiosity about how he will rescue the hostages.

Kasim (Kang Ki-young), the only local interpreter, has a serious expression different from the beginning of the play, which was breathed in with a pleasant appearance, and said, “I can’t interpret. If you say that, we die,” she says, raising her tension about the unpredictable bargaining operation.

RIGA: More than 100 Korean film professionals are shooting the historical spy thriller Harbin in Latvia. The film is directed by Woo Min-ho and lensed by Hong Kyung-pyo, who previously worked on Bong Joon Ho's Parasite and Snowpiercer. The production serviced by Latvian Film Angels Studio received funding from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

The film is shot entirely in Latvia from 27 January to 27 February 2023. The authenticity of the filming locations from various Latvian towns, including Riga, and the quality of film services were the main reasons for deciding to shoot this historical drama in Latvia. Harbin has been the third Asian film project for Film Angels studio in the past two years.

The production involves several film professionals such as producer Jānis Kalējs, line producer Katrīna Zeile, first assistant director Katrīna Tomašicka, set designer Juris Žukovskis, costume designer Katrīna Liepa, make-up artist Aija Beata Rjabovska, as well as gaffer Juris Zemītis and location manager Ēriks Kibermanis.

In Harbin Latvia stands in for Korea, as the film tells a story about Korean independence activists at the very beginning of the 20th century. Harbin is produced by South Korean studio Hive Media Corp. The French-Korean company Keystone Films, based in France, is also involved in the production.

Established in 2002, Film Angels Studio has worked on its own Latvian titles and it also serviced and coproduced several international projects.

The power of <Crash Landing On You> causes tourists flock to the filming location of Iseltwald, near Lake Brienz and other famous spots.

@bearcreek  thanks for sharing this. Now, do you know where the filming of North Korea scenes in “Crash Landing on You” took place? The North Korea set looks very realistic, right? The DMZ where (Son Ye Jin) and (Hyun Bin) meet in episode 1  is Jeju Island, not the actual Demilitarized Zone since it was difficult to film in the DMZ. Where was this place that perfectly recreated Pyongyang Station? The production crew filmed scenes in Mongolia. An old train was in operation at the time, so they took advantage of the train’s waiting time to finish filming. The field bonfire scene was also filmed in Mongolia.   :kaching1:
