Han Ga In: Great Burden to Costar with Younger Kim Soo Hyun and Jung Il Woo

“I am sorry. I am very sorry.”

The actress of The Moon that Embraces the Sun Han Ga In apologized unexpectedly.

She told reporters that it’s apology for her criticism about the age of characters of Kim Soo Hyun and Jung Il Woo in the drama is a lot older than them.

Han Ga In said, “Actually I’m much older than the two. Kim Soo Hyun is 6 years and Jung Il Woo is 5 years younger than me.” She confessed, “In fact, it’s great burden.” She added, “It looks like it’s a problem that not going to be solve in the short term. I don’t know how it will look like in the beginning, but as I am appearing as Heo Yeon Woo and not Han Ga In, hoping that viewers can view me as Heo Yeon Woo as story progresses.”

When asked about what’s her husband Yun Jung Hoon’s reactions on her cooperation with two younger actors, she responded, “We don’t specifically mention about work of each other. I am sure he is happy but may be he is jealous?” She laughed.

On the other hand, the actors attended the press conference on the January 2nd, 2012 included Han Ga In, Kim Soo Hyun, Jung Il Woo, Kim Min Seo, Yoon Seung Ah and Song Jae Hee. The Moon that Embraces the Sun is adapted from same-name novel of Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote Sunkyunkwan Scandal. First Sageuk for Jung Il Woo, Kim Soo Hyun & Han Ga In to Premiere on January 4

by: Yoojiin on Jan 2, 2012

One King, one girl, and the King's stepbrother. Says it all right?

On January 2, the cast of MBC's upcoming historical drama, "The Moon That Embraces the Sun," gathered for a press conference.

Anticipation has been growing after it was confirmed that the famed novelist Jung Eun Gwol's "The Moon That Embraces the Sun," would be used for this drama. She also wrote "The Lives of Sungkyunkwan' Scholars," the story that gave birth to the popular drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal."

Apart from a solid and entertaining plot, famous faces of the entertainment industry have joined the project.

Top actresses Han Ga In and Kim Min Seo, as well as "Dream High's" Kim Soo Hyun and more recently "Flower Boy Ramyun Shop's" Jung Il Woo were cast as leads for MBC's latest drama. Actor Jung Il Woo replaces actor Joo Won as Prince Yang Myung, who was too busy filming for "Ojakgyo Brothers," which was extended for eight more episodes.

"The Moon That Embraces the Sun" is a fantasy historical drama (sageuk) which takes place during the Joseon Dynasty.

Actor Kim Soo Hyun plays King Lee Hwon who is in love with Han Ga In's character, Heo Yeon Woo. She is born of noble blood and as a child who happens to be sentenced to execution. She lost memory of her royal upbringing and now live under the name of Wol, a female shaman. Jung Il Woo is Prince Yang Myung, the older stepbrother of the King who is also in love with Wol.

"The Moon that Embraces the Sun" will premiere on MBC on January 4 and will be broadcast twice a week, replacing "Me Too, Flower."

EDIT

I really don't care about what most people said about the age difference between Ga In, Ilwoo and Soo Hyun..I've always thought that there must be a strong reason for PD-nim choosing Han Ga In to play in this drama..I love Han Ga In..She's a natural beauty and a sweet actress..I think as long as she can play the character very well and make a great chemistry with her co-star, everything will be okay..I will support you always Han Ga In ssi ^_^

hi there !! *waves*

I totally agree with you. there are certain grounds why Han Ga In was cast in this sageuk. And she was the first to be cast (even if the confirmation by Jone Plus was made late November already)

When i finished the first chapter, the description of Wol as "doll-like" beauty, Han Ga In indeed matches that qualities.

I was also surprised that she publicly said sorry to everyone about her being the older lead role among the three. That was humble of her. But as what she had said, we will look forward to her character and not the person behind that role. That matters most.

I take an example about Jung Il Woo being paired up with Lee Yo Won in 49 days and Lee Chung Ah in FBRS, both are his noona, but the good teamwork and chemistry worked the tandem at their finest--forgetting the age difference from the actors.

anyways..here's another photoset released by Pan_drama . cute kiddos ^^ ~

At first, I was a bit skeptical about the age difference. Now that I've seen posters n PC pics, surprisingly, both KSH + HGI looked very compatible. Looking forward to watching this drama. Do we know if anybody is taking this one for subbing? It would be a great help to the non-Korean speakers. :)

King status no guarantee for love for Kim Soo-hyun

2012010223142154090_1.jpg

Actor Kim Soo-hyun poses during a photocall of a press conference for MBC TV series "The Moon Bearing the Sun" (translated title) held in Seoul, South Korea on January 2, 2012. [MBC]

Actor Kim Soo-hyun may have risen to status of king in an upcoming series but he will suffer from the heartache of love as did his character in hit TV series "Dream High."

A press conference held in Seoul on Monday for major broadcaster MBC's new drama "The Moon Bearing the Sun" (translated title) revealed that Kim will play King Lee Hwon, an imaginary king of the Joseon Dynasty, who will have to part with his love Heo Yeon-woo to be taken on by actress Han Ga-in.

Heo was set to be the crown princess when Lee was a prince but was driven out of the palace after falling ill and was believed to have died until eight years later when Lee runs into her by chance.

Heo, who has lost all memory of her past as a result of a conspiracy planned by those who wanted her out of the palace, says she is a female shaman named Wol but Lee starts to question what actually happened.

In KBS drama "Dream High," Kim played Song Sam-dong, a poor high school student from the countryside aspiring to be a singer, who has unrequited love for a girl in love with another guy.

Nonetheless, Kim said he will focus on showing how the king works at straightening out the state of affairs of his country as well as his heartrending love for Heo.

He also remarked, "I have never lived like a king before so I've been looking at the many kings that other actors have played in the past," adding that actor Song Joong-ki has been one of his points of reference.

Song had played the young King Sejong in SBS' historical drama "Deep Rooted Tree" which ran for two months late last year.

"Sun," also starring Jung Il-woo and Kim Min-suh, will show every Wednesdays and Thursdays starting January 4.

Another news about Ilwoo from Soompi

Jung Il Woo's Changes his Ideal Type Every Year

by: hotshotlover30 on Jan 2, 2012

The cast of MBC’s upcoming historical drama, “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” gathered yesterday, January 2, for a press conference. “The Moon Embracing the Sun” is a fantasy historical drama (sageuk) set in the Joseon Dynasty and stars “Dream High’s” Kim Soo Hyun, “Bad Guy’s” Han Ga In, “Baby-Faced Beauty’s” Kim Min Seo, and “Flower Boy Ramyun Shop’s” Jung Il Woo.

In the series, Jung Il Woo plays Prince Yang Myung who is second in line for the throne and the half-brother of Lee Won (Kim Soo Hyun). Yang Myung and Lee Won fall for the same girl, a shaman named Wol (Han Ga In) who eventually falls for Lee Won.

Jung Il Woo described, “While he looks bright and cheerful on the outside, Yang Myung is actually full of pain and agony. Despite his bright smiles, he’s a very sad character. He’s constantly conflicted between reason and sensibility.”

While his character shows devotion to one love, Jung Il Woo surprised reporters by comparing his dating style to a nickel-silver pot. He stated, “I love like a nickel-silver pot. I tend to get passionate really fast, and I cool down [forget his ex] once we end our relationship.” The humorous comment caused everyone at the conference burst into laughter. Jung Il Woo continued, “My theory of love, relationships, and ideal type changes every year. Right now, the beautiful and hard-working Han Ga In sunbaenim is my ideal girl.” Slightly embarrassed, Jung Il Woo added, “I lost control over this situation.”

“The Moon that Embraces the Sun” is written by Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote last year’s “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” starring JYJ’s Yoochun, Park Min Young, Song Joong Ki, and Yoo Ah In. It will air its pilot episode tomorrow, January 4, 2012 on MBC at 9:55PM KST.

A lot of people were asking about how to watch Moon&Sun live.

Here's the link where you can read how to stream MBC live. It's perfectly explained!

I personally use Solive and I can't complain. I watched FBRS live every week through Solive and I had no problem at all. No buffering, no unexpected errors.

OK now its just around the corner...... :) Let the countdown begin.....

I just finished reading Chapter 1 at Blue's site (thanks Blue)... - so poetic....

I think SKKS has transformed me into this fusion sageuk fan (I even liked most parts of The Princess' Man - hope I got the title right)

Anyway coming back to the Sun & Moon - I was reading a comment by Blue that the King is supposed to look younger than his age ( in the book). If this is so, the casting of KSH as King makes more sense.

Anyway, I have decided i am going to give the drama a chance & watch it with an open mind (I mean if I had known Yoochun before watching SKKS, I'd never have believed he could portray his role so well, and he did a great job)....

So openness, openness - & hope the lead actress also delivers as well as Min Young did in Skks....

Fighting or should as I say - "By the powers of Lady Shaman" -------- Hsssssssssssssss -----------------------

@silvermine - isn't Blue's translation of the book riveting? That's what got me hooked. And I'm more hooked on the story and the characters than I am the actors so I think it'll be okay. Once the story gets going, I think I probably won't even be paying attention to the actors or their real life ages anymore. I'll be paying attention to the characters!

I really am excited and can't wait for this one! w00t.gif

@silvermine and tessieroo:  i love Blue's blog because of the book translation. So many great lines there! ♥

I think Han Gain apologizes about her being casted because she's hearing/reading a lot of criticisms being 'too old' for the role. *sigh* Whatever now i still like her and let's start rolling w/ this drama!!!
