I just saw the trailer. It was beautiful. The young actor Yeo Jin Goo is just great. I saw him in "Giant," as the little brother playing opposite Kim Soo Hyun and also this summer as the young Warrior Baek Dong Soo. He is one of the best child actors ever. So happy that they put him in this drama! smile.gif

Kim Soo Hyun “Song Joong Ki is a role model for me”

Kim Soo Hyun, who is currently shooting  a historical series for the first time after his debut, recently talked  about his feelings.

On January 2, Kim attended a press conference for MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday series The Moon Embracing the Sun in Seoul.

Kim said, “I haven’t lived like a king  yet so I watched many kings in several series. Among young kings, King  Sejong who was played by Song Joong Ki, is a role model for me.” Song  previously appeared on the series, A Deep-Rooted Tree.

He added that he tries not to smile to look like an old king.

He said, “Since I look little younger  than my age when I smile, I try not to smile so that I can look like an  old king. I felt sorry when we were having a photo time.”

“I am playing the role of King Lee  Hwon, imaginary King of the Joseon Dynasty. I’d like to express a King  who tries very hard to improve the domestic situation and loves a woman  passionately.”

“There were many kings in many series  so far but I will play the different King. Please believe me,” he said  and made people laugh”

The series is written by Jung Eun Kwol, who wrote the series Sunkyunkwan Scandal. The series, which is about a king and a female shaman’s love story, will start airing on January 4.

Han Ga In On Her Younger Partners

2012-01-02 17:43  l  CJ E&M enewsWorld | Park, HyunMin

Han Ga In spoke up on the biggest issue for her upcoming drama: her younger male co-stars.

Han attended the press conference for the upcoming MBC drama The Sun and the Moon, held on January 2 in Seoul, and said she was “very sorry” about her match with Kim Soo Hyun and Jung Il Woo.

59918763.jpg

Han  said, “I’m much older than the two. They’re five, six years younger. I  feel the pressure, but having a baby face doesn’t solve the problem as  quick as you think. I don’t know how it’ll look in the beginning, but  because I’m appearing not as Han Ga In but as the character Heo Yeon  Woo, I’m hoping viewers will naturally come to think of me as Yeon Woo  as the story progresses.”

About the reactions from her husband Yeon Jeong Hun, she answered, “He  didn’t say anything special. I didn’t tell him the specifics about the  piece, so he didn’t say anything special, but I think he’ll like it.  Maybe he’ll be jealous,” making her audience laugh.

The Sun and the Moon is a drama adaptation of the bestselling novel by Jung Eun Gwol, the author of Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and is a traditional drama with a fantasy romance twist.

It tells the love story that takes place between Yeon Woo (Han Ga In),  who was chosen as the Crown Princess but is forced to live as a shaman,  and an imaginary Joseon king named Hwon (Kim Soo Hyun). The drama will  follow Me Too, Flower! and will air its first episode on January 4.

Kim Soo Hyun names Song Joong Ki as his role model during drama conference

20120102moonembracessun.jpg

On January 2nd, the cast of MBC’s upcoming Wednesday/Thursday drama, ‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun‘, gathered at the 63 Building in Yeoido for their press conference.

Actress Han Ga In was asked by reporters about what her husband (actor Yeon Jung Hoon) thought of her two younger male co-stars, Jung Il Woo and Kim Soo Hyun.

She replied, “He hasn’t really said anything because we don’t talk about the drama that often. I’m sure he’d be happy, right? Or maybe envious?”

This drama marks her first small screen comeback in a year and six months. She’ll be playing the role of Kim Soo Hyun’s first love, who got kicked out of the king’s palace after becoming sick with an unidentifiable disease.

Kim Soo Hyun expressed, “I’ve never lived as a king before so I studied all of the kings we’ve had thus far. If I were to choose a senior role model king, I guess I’d choose Song Joong Ki (Song Joong Ki had played the role of a younger king in the drama, ‘Deep-Rooted Tree’).”

He continued, “I’ll be playing the role of a fictional king from the Chosun dynasty named Lee Hwon. He’s a king that tries to right the wrong and is loyal to his one love. I tried not to smile too often during the phototime because it makes me look a lot younger than my role. There have been many kings before me, but please trust me when I say that I will show a different image than them.”

Jung Il Woo was asked about his dating style, to which he replied, “I’m like a nickel-silver pot. I heat up quickly, but also forget quickly once the love ends. Actually, my dating style changes each year.”

On his character, he stated, “He’s a natural character that has a lot of worries on the side. Even though he’s laughing, you know that he’s sad inside, so he’s one that requires a lot of emotional restraint and balance.”

The drama begins airing on January 4th.

Thank you for all the updates Moonsuners! I really can't wait for the drama to start. Just 2 days to go!

Ga In looked stunningly beautiful at the presscon and I feel sorry for her because she must really feel the pressure about the age gap. So I hope she will have great chemistry with both Soo Hyun and Il Woo. Moon&Sun fighting!

Il Woo cutie, why are you so adorable? LOL! He really loves V-sign gesture :D We should make Il Woo's V-sign collection :D

Jung Il Woo says, “My dating style is like a nickel-silver pot”

by hannacha

20120102_1325485185_56108700_1.jpg

Actor Jung Il Woo inspired laughter by comparing his dating style to a nickel-silver pot.

On January 2, Jung Il Woo made above statement at a production conference for MBC’s new drama series The Moon That Embraces The Sun was held at 63 Building in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo.

He said, “My dating style goes like a nickel-silver pot. When I’m in a relationship, I tend to get passionate fast then cool down fast,” making the conference room burst into laughter.

Embarrassed, Jung explained, “I think my view over relationships change every year,” but concluded, “I don’t think I can take back what I said,” putting his down, giving a shy look.

Jung plays the prince Yang Myung who is most likely to succeed the crown in The Moon That Embraces The Sun. Yang Myung seems to have an easy life and take things as they come, but inwardly he is lost and cries bitter tears, working hard to gain freedom.

In addition, Yang Myung builds a rivalry with Lee Hwon (played by Kim Soo Hyun), the king and his half-brother, for the love of Wol (played by Han Ga In), the female exorcist, involving himself in a triangle relationship.

The Moon That Embraces The Sun is based on another best-seller of the author Jung Eun Gwol who wrote the original work of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. The Moon That Embraces The Sun tells a love story between Yeon Woo (played by Han Ga In) who lives a life of a female exorcist as she gets caught up in an expected conflict although she is selected as Crown Princess, and a virtual king of Chosun, Hwon (played by Kim Soo Hyun).

I have been waiting for this drama from my SKKS days. And just seeing this Title thread in Soompi today got me all excited again, all in anticipation....."BUT" - (yes the But came after all.....)

But, reading through these pages and seeing the cast pics has dampened my enthusiasm considerably.

While I hope it will turn out differently, but at the moment the lead actor looks just like a little boy (who may one day grow up to be King - jeez by his own confession he is afraid to smile for fear of looking too young). So certainly, does not look like the Burning Sun who the Moon will want to embrace.... (as you can see I am in love with the title - seriously :)

Anyway, please let all this (i.e. dampening enthusiasm) change - if there is no choice and we have to live with this cast (I'm surprised since there is no dearth of good looking, able bodied men in the drama world of Korea - at least from what I could tell so far) (& a lot has been said about the drawbacks of the leading lady too) then so be it.

I'll lurk here and check it out. I have a feeling reading excerpts from the book though is going to be pure pleasure.

Thanks !!

Agree! At this point, I'm much more hooked on the story than the actors so I'm trying to concentrate on that. Reading through the recaps from Blue about the book I'm very excited for this one! There are only recaps through Chapter 3 but so far so good.
