Officials dismiss rumors of Han Ga In withdrawing from MBC’s ‘The Moon That Embraces The Sun’

Officials have dismissed rumors about Han Ga In‘s withdrawal from the upcoming MBC drama, ’The Moon That Embraces The Sun‘.

On December 20th, the drama’s publisher Pan Entertainment revealed to Money Today Star News that ”Currently, the casting process is going smoothly. Han Ga In’s withdrawal? Nonsense“.

They continued,”On the 22nd, there will be a photo shoot for the official drama poster. We even talked with the actress’ agency today and confirmed the next schedule.”

Han Ga In’s agency expressed that they were confused over the basis of the rumors.

“We don’t understand what’s going on. These withdrawal rumors don’t make any sense. We are preparing for the recording as planned.”

‘The Moon That Embraces The Sun’ was written by Jung Eun Gwol, who’s also responsible for writing the novel version of ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal‘. Fans can look forward to a fantasy-historical drama that tells the love story between Chosun King, Lee Hwon (played by Kim Soo Hyun) and a woman named Yeon-Woo (played by Han Ga In).

i think this was edited? Because pan_drama have no official stills yet released...and the filming for adults will began next year. according to Han Ga In agency, fitting for costumes will begin this week...

Ahhh .. Kim Yoo Jung x Lee Min woo together again in another drama ... I love them 2 in Gumiho Child. Too bad they're not pair together, hehe ... can't wait for the counterpart to grow up and see how it will play out with Kim Soo Hyun, Han Ga-in, and Jung Il-woo ... I am excited to see the chemistry between Kim Soo Hyun and Han Ga-in given their age gap ... give me some sizzling chemistry ... definitely can't wait for this drama!

Could I ask if anyone knows what the netizens' feelings are about this drama in Korea? Is nobody worried that a 20 episodes drama will (reportedly) have 6 childhood episodes and that the adult cast hasn't even started fiming yet?

I was super excited for this drama but now I don't know if I'll even check it out. The trailer didn't grab me at all (I felt they threw together a bunch of footage they had so far because they simply couldn't continue getting away with not having a trailer two weeks from the premiere).

This seems to me to be a disaster in the making. From what I've seen on the web so far, people are excited about the two male leads. Like SKKS, it's a drama that would appeal to a younger audience. Delaying the appearance of the adult cast on screen would be like shooting themselves in the foot. Would the audience sit through 6 hours of childhood episodes? If the drama gets abysmal ratings because it didn't grab the viewers from the beginning, this being MBC, I fear they might mess it up and even consider cutting the drama. And it doesn't make sense. They clearly want a hit drama and were probably hoping to hitch a ride on the SKKS bandwagon but they're doing it all wrong IMO.

I might be needlessly pessimistic but I had such high expectations for this drama that I can't help but feel bitterly disappointed by all the official news I've seen about it recently.

@missnymeria i understand your sentiments regarding the possibilities of this drama. the casting , PD, and writer chemistry will be either a hit or a miss. so for me, ill take this stride and have leap of faith to follow this drama. honestly, my interest jumped into this thread because of ilwoo, but after reading the first chapter of the book translated by Blue, i got hooked with the premise of the story.

the last time i watched a MBC Sageuk was Queen Seon Deok. from what i recall, this drama have doubts dished in by fans but later on was loved and become a household drama there on. my expectation for  The Sun and the Moon isn't too high. so we'll see. ^^

i don't think 6 episodes of child-years is too much. i mean, it's more like teenage years and what happens in those years really do shape their future later in major ways so it's okay i think. i think the korean netizens are more upset at the casting of Han Ga In opposite KSH. i think many ppl think that just about killed it. i myself lost my interest by 50% w/ the casting of HGI and was holding out that they would at least cast someone who would be her age or older but with KSH i can't seem to picture him as anything but a much younger boy. so i lost my interest by anther 50% so i am at 25% interest level. actually i don't mind seeing the young cast for 6 episodes, even more actually.

not seeing HGI in anything is a bit weird so maybe the rumors have some truth.

I didn't know that netizens were that upset about the casting of HGI. Do you think it's still possible to see another actress take up the role even after HGI's agency denied she was leaving? Was she at the ceremony? I didn't recognize her in any of the pictures posted but I'm not good at recgonizing actors in crowds.

I gather you wouldn't be interested in translating the drama on Viki then?

I think I'll do like @Flowerboyramyunshop_FB and take a leap of faith. While I have big reservations, I *want* to love this drama so I'll give it a chance and we'll see how it goes.

I guess the official posters for the adult cast will be coming out this week then.

Yeah, MBC promotion activities are pretty poor.

Actors and the whole crew deserve better. I really hope it won't be a disappointment. Otherwise Hyun Soo and Il Woo fans are going to be really mad because they're both fantastic actors. It'd be such a waste of both actors talents.

Can't wait for this drama, though the HGI issue it's a bit disappointing I love the cast, even the child actors are ones of the very best (Yoo Jung and Min Ho were so adorable together in Tales of a Fox's Child it's a pity that she has to go to her old Iljimae costar this time around), I hope they can pull off the age gap in a believable way.
