i think this is gossip. do you happen to have original source of this so called "source in production company" ... i skimmed through the news and could not find support for this. but maybe i just missed it. korean media likes to exaggerate and sometimes they make up stuff, but i think this is o.O

from the news I found, Moon's management made a statement saying it was their misjudgment to miss out on Moon that Embraces the Sun. at the time, Moon Geun Young was heavily courted but they decided against it at last because Moon had just come off a drama w/ lower ratings and they were sensitive about her next project, and they had thought from the synopsis that the character "wol" was somewhat flat. also, at the time Moon Geun Young was studying in New York. She is now back and is considering her next project, perhaps the drama, "Beautiful Life" as a nurse. her management wishes Kim Soo Hyun and the project well and it seems they are close anyway.

Sorry to cut your post. I just wanted to say that I agree, it does seem like an exaggeration on the part of the media. You can't always believe everything you read. dry.gif

I also find this drama so visually stunning to look at. It's filmed beautifully with such a lovely color palette. And I'm enjoying the child actors more than I anticipated. Usually the childhood episodes in sagueks are my least favorite, and I have to force myself to get through them, but not this time. Although I feel a little like a grumpy, old ajumma, since unlike most everyone else, I don't find Princess MW adorable in the least. I do find everyone else adorable though. Well, with the exception of BK, but then I don't think anyone is meant to find her adorable.

My only complaint so far, would be the OST. It's so unimpressive that it doesn't even register with me. I watched two whole episodes without one single note making any kind of impression. Now, I know that a good OST is never intrusive, but that's just taking it too far!

tongue.gif Here's hoping future OST additions are a big improvement!

Geez, thats really upsetting the part that the main actor popularity is not enough for them well at least he's one of the great actors out there! Shocking, it would have been her as the main leading actress! Well hoping is just a rumor!

Be careful if it's a torrent file! I found a couple of those that turned out to be garbage.

I saw episode 1 and it was so good!!!!! I cannot wait to see more and more!!! The Crown Prince is so adorable and his voice reminds me of Jang Keun Suk :)!!!!! It's kind of deep and so manly! The young girl that play Ha Ga-In's part is also very pretty too, I bet she is going to be a beauty queen actress when she grows up!!!! Overall, I really like the storyline and cannot wait to see more...I hope Ha Ga-In will have great chemistry with the male-lead since I never watch him in anything before....How I wish Il Woo was the male-lead, but I guess I will have to give the male-lead a chance :).

I think I have a txt file of The Moon That Embraces The Sun (novel). Unfortunately, it is in Korean only, so you would have to know Korean to read it.

I'm not sure if I can post it here though, seeing that another website took down their link.

I made a short spazz about Episode 1- the story of A Ri ^^

moon1-00003.jpg

Shaman’s A Ri was essential in the drama to lead the fate of Yeon Woo (Wol). This was cleary stated in Episode 1 , on how will the moon protect the interest of the future King (Lee Hwon). Little pieces come together , and we do have a beautiful representation of what A Ri ‘s mission in seeking and revealing the future of the Royal Court.

When A Ri was found wounded by Lady Shin (Yeon Woo’s mother), she was then grateful to meet a kindhearted royalty, and was treated by her despite the knowledge of A Ri’s being a renegade. However, Lady Shin disagreed and said that it was the baby in her womb that saved A Ri from the royal guards.

A Ri saw how the baby would look like. She mentioned to Lady Shin how beautiful  her daughter would become—a moon like beauty that is. The shaman saw the lass becoming the Crowned Princess at the same time how cruel she will face her death after. A Ri was terrified yet instead of warning the Lady , she promised to protect that baby even after she dies.

The interesting part is this : A Ri is being hunt down by the guards of the Palace, and it was Lady Shin who indirectly handed her to them.

Yet, A Ri  knew that her death will be there soon. She was down to one last mission—to send the message to Jong Nok Young about the child whom they need to protect even after life.  There was also a debate between the two friends, where Nok Young despised their ability to for see the future but can’t do anything about the worst . However A Ri , who knew from then on that she is entitled to an irrevocable punishment , answered her friend with only this:

“Everything is God’s intention”

When A Ri was publicly interrogated , she dropped another prophecy . This time , how will Lord Shin (Queen Yoon’s accomplice) die :

“You think I am the only one who saw, don’t you? You think it will end if you just get rid of me, don’t you? You’re wrong, you villain — Heaven’s Moon was watching you. That man’s blood is not the only thing that soaked into your blade that night. The moonlight of that night seeped inside, too. Wait and see! One day your wicked deeds will be revealed under the moonlight! One day that moonlight will cut your own lifeline!” (

Her last breath though, brought another revelation :

There are Two Suns , aside from the moon.

She uttered a prayer, hoping for them to stay safe.

Kim Soo Hyun, Han Ga In, and Jung Il Woo to Take over "The Sun Embracing the Sun" with the Sixth Episode

MBC newest drama “The Sun Embracing the Moon” drew in impressive ratings for its first two episodes last week even without its main leads. The drama wowed viewers with an intriguing plot and strong performances by its child actors, raising fans’ expectations. Originally, the lead actors – Kim Soo Hyun, Han Ga In, and Jung Il Woo – were scripted to make their first appearance in the seventh episode. However, it’s been announced that producers have rewritten the script to allow the main actors to appear an episode earlier (episode six).

While Han Ga In has been busy wrapping up her latest film “Introduction to Architecture,” she joined Kim Soo Hyun and Jung Il Woo last week to film “The Sun Embracing the Moon.” Meanwhile, the child actors have amazed viewers with their acting prowess.

“The Moon that Embraces the Sun” is a fantasy historical drama (sageuk) set in the Joseon Dynasty. King Lee Hwon (Kim Soo Hyun) and his half-brother Prince Yang Myung (Jung Il Woo) fall for the same girl, a shaman named Wol (Han Ga In). Wol, whose real name is Yeon Woo, was the Crowned Princess, betrothed to the Crowned Prince Lee Hwon. She was plotted against and “executed” by those who were both jealous and fearful of her beauty and wits as a young girl.

The fantasy historical sageuk drew in 18% and 19.9% on Wednesday and Thursday night respectively (data from AGB Nielsen). Gu Hye Sun’s “Please Take Care of the Captain” brought in 9.2% and 10.5%, while Lee Dong Wook’s “Wild Romance” fell behind with 7.% and 6.7%. “The Moon that Embraces the Sun” is written by Jung Eun Gwol, who also wrote last year’s “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” starring JYJ’s Yoochun, Park Min Young, Song Joong Ki, and Yoo Ah In.

agree with the rest who think of the OST of this drama as passive. i am still looking forward to that unforgettable BGM/ OST especially that we have OTP 's here. (I remember Queen Seon Deok having a blast of OST as early as episode 1 )

“Nothing is more cruel to me than telling me to forget that name. Miss Yeonwoo was my betrothed. My one and only betrothed.”

oh this line kills me >.<

Lee Min Ho plays young Prince Yang Myung (later played by Jung Il Woo), Yeo Jin Goo’s Lee Hwon’s (later played by Kim Soo Hyun) half-brother and second in line for the throne. While ZE:A’s Si Wan plays Heo Yeom (later played by Song Jae Hee), the Crown Prince Lee Hwon’s teacher.

With their charismatic acting and good-looks, the three actors actors – along with child actress Kim Yoo Jung – have impressed viewers, raking in 18% and 19.9% (AGB Nielsen) viewership ratings for the first two episodes. They will hand over the reigns to Kim Soo Hyun, Han Ga In, and Jung Il Woo in the sixth episode.

Netizens commented, “I look forward to Wednesday and Thursday nights because of them,” “Noona is waiting for you,” and “Watching this live!”

ditto. that line just break my heart. cant wait for chapter 6. and yay, the adult will appear in Ep6 which means NEXT WEEK, woohooo!

but i hope they are not late in filming schedule. if the adult casts just started filming, in not time they will be in live shoot already. and yes, the osts. since they are getting such high ratings, i hope the soundtrack will improve also.

I'm marking January 19th. Please come faster! I want to see prince Myung all grown up with the face of my lovely Il Woo :D  Though I really like Lee Min Ho as a young prince Myung.

The novel is so poetic and so nice to read...

@ Nana544

I'm obviously a hardcore Il Woo fan, but I love Kim Soo Hyun too. You won't be disappointed by his performance. He's one of the most talented young actors in Korea. Plus he's so handsome! :) I think scenes between Il Woo and Soo Hyun will be the most intense. They're both so charismatic so I'm curious how their chemistry will play out.

Hmm.. well I for one am happy that Moongeunyoung wasn't cast. I don't have anything against her, but I think Hangain gives more credibility to the drama for some reason...which is odd because Moongeunyoung probably has the better resume.

Maybe I feel that way because pairing Moongeunyoung and Kimsoohyun as the main characters would make the drama seem so teeny-bopper and not really sageuk. (MGY and Kimsoohyun both seem so YOUNG even though they are my age!) By casting Hangain, the drama is also geared towards people in their mid-twenties like me! LOL~~ I'm getting older so it doesn't seem realistic to me when the actors are too baby-faced and being all sad about love at stuff...

And besides it seems that Yunwoo is supposed to be exquisitely beautiful based on how many guys are falling at her feet already - and Hangain gives off that bewitching aura more than Moongeunyoung. If you take a look at some paintings from back in Joseon times, the female heroine is always tall and willowy and graceful looking (I think Hangain is the perfect choice!)

That is just my opinion defending Hangain LOL!!

@Ilwoo thanks for the article..omg i didnt know MGY's team would be having issues because of the lead guy.hmmm..thats something.

Btw I'm pretty sure this is exaggerated. Korean entertainment news are not to be fully trusted lol!

But it's probably partially true because I remember when Moongeunyoung said on Strong Heart or Happy Together, that she was reluctant to do Cinderella's Sister at first because Taecyeon wasn't experienced/popular enough.

I don't care with the rumors of MGY, I love all the casts & I do think that they will deliver a great performance. I think we all should give a chance to HGI as I personally think she looks so perfect for the role !
