INFORMATION:
"GARO" is not your typical Japanese tokusatsu television show, since it directs at a more matured audience. This is due to its violence and darker contents. Thus makes this your non-so-typical tokusatsu that we are used to.


PLOT:

Garo focuses on the life of Saejima Kouga, who has assumed the title of Makai Knight to protect humanity against the dark demonic manifestations called "Horrors". In his quest to purge them, he encounters a young girl named Mitsuki Kaoru whom he saves from a Horror. However, due to an accident during the battle she's stained with the demonic blood, thus according to the rule she must be cut down. Moreover, those that have been stained by the demonic blood of a Horror only have 100 days left to live, as well as they will attract more Horrors as they are their favourite food. Kouga decides to spare Kaoru, intended to use her as bait in order to make his hunt easier.
The storyline focuses mainly on Kouga developing a relationship with Kaoru and his stand in his duty as a Makai Knight. Through the eyes of Kaoru we will get to know this world of GARO.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS:

I don't usually watch Japanese tokusatsu shows. However, for some unknown reason "GARO" caught my eyes and stirred my interest, perhaps because I'm kind of an action person, I guess. Furthermore, I think due to the fight sequences and how they're choregraphied in the show that pulled me in and caught me in the first place. Because to tell the truth, I really like how they designed the fights in this serial, very beautiful in my eyes. Moreover, the creator, Mr. Keita Amemiya, has requested that the fights would be performed by the actors themselves. Thus the main actors must perform their own stunts during the fighting scenes, even the female ones. Thus make the fights seem more "real" and sincere, I guess.

A SHORT AND EXPRESSIBLE REVIEW BY SHEREE AT MADA MADA DANE!

OMG! This is something you would never see me normally watch in my lifetime. I thought I'd find a show that myself and my older two boys would like. Well, they got bored because it was too "lovey" and left me to watch it myself. I LOVED IT!

This show was like a cross between Power Rangers and some romantic sci/fi with some topless nudity! The drama had a great premise. The show was never boing in any way, shape, or form. I mean, come on, you can't help loving the karate moves of Kouga and Rei. Between the two, *sigh*, left me in a hot sweat! Then the love story between Kaoru and Kouga, it progressed so smoothly. You couldn't help but love the way Kouga grew to eventually love her even though he never said the words. I think the most he said to her was "I need you." At the end of the special, well.....I can't say but I was looking for a little physical action. Ya know a kiss wouldn't have hurt. I hope they make another season. That would be good. Ah, but that is usually me dreaming.

If you aren't afraid to give it a try...go for it. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Guys and gals, both, will love this because you all get what you want.
