If you were a real estate salesperson VS pedophile fresh out of prison

What would you do in this scenario? [based on real situations]
Let's say you're a real estate salesperson and you heard on the news that a well-known pedophile got released out of prison. He comes to you and wants to buy one of the houses very near of an elementary school. You could get some very great commissions out of it.

What would be your decision and what would you do?

there are generally laws here that protect against that, well to a certain extent, i think typical is 1000 ft? which..actually isnt alot, nvm that haha.

but in any case real estate agents already practice various forms of discrimination such as red lining, etc. so as far as that goes, im sure noone would essentially do that o.O i myself wouldnt sell him/her a house there. im sure people wouldnt be too keen on that fact if i did as well. itd just be in the best interest of everyone really

Disregarding the fact that there are probably laws around this..

To be brutally honest, I had to think twice. I suppose it depends if I'm in a financial crisis

Do I really need the commission? Do I really need to show some progress in my job?

There's also the factor that if I don't do it someone else probably would.

So would I take the bonus and live with the guilt?

So after thinking about it for awhile, I've come to the conclusion that I wouldn't do it.

I just don't think I could live knowing that I may have potentially contributed to ruining a child's life.

Here is my plan of action.

Seeing as he would probably find another realtor, I would help him to find a house near an elementary school.

Afterwards, I will warn the police to keep an eye on him.

If he does molest a child, the responsibility should fall on law enforcement.I mean cmon, wtf? your going to let a pedo legally live near a school and not moniter him?

I would sell it to him.

seriously maybe I'm just dum, but to me this is no different than the police releasing a serial killer/whatever criminal back to the society.

He has already served his time. Perhaps he is a reformed man. It is not my responsibility to look after him. That's the police's job. Not my problem. So I would sell him the home.

Would you let a murderer move in next door to a young woman living alone?

That's exactly how most of the real estates salespersons answered that question hahaha!

Yes... Unless the neighborhood is a ghost town and there's only that young woman there, then nope...

There was another scenario that was made when I used to be in computer security:

"If you were to fix a computer and you found some very organized crime plans and child porn, would you report it to the cops?"

Hell. No.

Plain and simple. There is no money worth my conscience being destroyed if the person in question harmed another child. Knowing that I was the one who sold him the house and essentially allowed him into such an environment would be too much to handle personally.

same here--not even if I was desperate.

I'm not touching that commission with a 100m pole.

Refuse to take responsibility for allowing such a thing.
