Helppp please :( I can't open system restore!

Hii, I really need help!

I must have opened something dodgy because AVG went insane and told me to block a few things. Now I can't open anything via icons I have on my desktop or whatever. I wanted to do system restore, but it just comes up with the "open with" window.. I just about managed to get onto google chrome by pulling up a chrome version of a chat log I had..

How do I fix it?

It's really frustrating!

You could restart your computer, and just mash on F8. It should bring up the system repair window which will allow you to do a system restore

When you mash on F8 on bootup it should take you to a menu that looks like the image below and just go to Repair your Computer

Search for RSTRUI.EXE from your Start Menu. Alternative, Windows Key + R and type it into the Run box. 

You most likely need to reset the default file association for EXE files via a little file download. You got on here so I assume you can go to a link online.

If you're on Windows 7, go here for the files. Vista here and XP here. I vouch for the safety of these files having used the 7 link before and scanned the other two.

You can try running RKill : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill to stop the viruses and spyware then running http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and do a full scan. Update Malwarebytes first by checking for updates with Malwarebytes.
