Out of thousands participants only 34 advanced the next round. After many auditions, 20 candidates who will go through the mentoring process were finally selected as listed below.

* Seunghun Shin (Singer) -- Shayne Orok, GyunHee Youn, HyungWoo Choi, Jihwan Hwang (Oh, Shayne is on the list who had passed the YouTube audition)

* Sihyuk Bang (Composer) -- Jungin Kim, Jihyun Nho, David Oh, Misoo Lee

* Yeounah Kim (Singer) -- Hanjoon Kim, Seaeun Beak, Ahri Ahn, Heejoo Jung

A shortlist will be selected by this mentoring process and each mentor will conduct the training with their own particular way. Also, final candidates will have a chance to appear on the live show across the country.

2AM’s Jo Kwon & Changmin will be special judges on ‘Birth of a Great Star’

For the March 11th episode of MBC’s “Star Audtion: The Birth of a Great Star“, mentor Bang Shi Hyuk has invited 2AM’s Jo Kwon and Changmin, singer Im Jung Hee, and singer Lee Hyun as special guest judges for the show.

The stars have been nicknamed as ‘Bang Shi Hyuk’s Legion’, and they’ll be responsible for helping select the two finalists. The remaining contestants are David Oh, Noh Jihoon, Lee Miso, and Kim Jungin.

2AM’s Jinwoon finds his doppelganger

Many stars have been able to locate their doppelgangers through a variety of ways, and it looks like 2AM’s Jinwoon has found his at 2AM’s final stop for their nation-wide “Saint O’ Clock” tour, which took place on March 13th in Seoul.

Talented composer and producer, and judge for MBC’s “Star Audition: The Great Birth“, Bang Shi Hyuk, updated his Twitter earlier today with the two above photos featuring 2AM’s Jinwoon, and fellow “Star Audition” contestant, David Oh.

In addition, he commented, “As requested by many, David Oh and Jinwoon. Twins? Brothers? Doppelganger?” leaving fans stunned at the remarkable resemblance the two share.

Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Won Hee perform an amazing duet on ‘Come to Play’

Korea’s ‘National Buddies’, Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Won Hee, recently sang Vibe’s ‘That Man, That Woman‘ on MBC’s “Come to Play“, thus generating huge interest from netizens after it was aired.

On March 21st, MCs Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Won Hee prepared a special duet performance to get their singing abilities critiqued by the day’s guests, who were the five judges from ‘Birth of a Great Star‘.

Yoo and Kim insisted on sticking to the original key of the incredibly difficult song, but as Yoo began singing the first verse, laughter could be heard from all over the studio.

Kim Won Hee also finished singing seriously in the midst of all the laughter, which caused people to laugh even more.

When the two MCs reached the chorus highlight of the song, they reached the peak of their singing talent and had the audience howling over their comedic confidence.

Meanwhile, the second part of the ‘Great Mentors’ special of ‘Come to Play’ will air on March 28th, and stars Bang Si Hyuk, Kim Tae Won, Kim Yoon Ah, Shin Seung Hoon and Lee Eun Mi.

“Birth of a Great Star” contestant to debut with Cho PD’s Block B

A contestant from MBC’s “Birth of a Great Star” will be debuting as a part of Cho PD’s upcoming hip hop group, Block B!

Originally, his debut was unconfirmed because of a severe knee injury that rendered him unable to participate in Block B’s training. His condition has since improved, and Cho PD has decided to go ahead with his debut in the group.

On March 24th, Block B’s choreography director, Go Yoon Young, revealed, “We thought that he wouldn’t recover in time to film the group’s debut music video, but as the date drew near, he showed much determination and managed to recover in quickly.”

This anonymous member was once eliminated during the “Great Camp” episode of “Birth of a Great Star”. He later tried out for Cho PD’s audition and passed, managing to go straight into recording for Block B’s title track under composer Assbrass.

Cho PD commented, “Last week, I watched him take part in the music video and album jacket shoot, and felt that everything was finally finding its place. I’m really happy with the results.”

The seven-member boy group is scheduled to debut on April 14th.

miss A’s Suzy shows her support for “The Great Rebirth” contestant, Hwang Ji Hwan

On this week’s episode of MBC’s “Star Audition: The Great Rebirth”, miss A’s Suzy came on to show her support for her close friend and contestant, Hwang Ji Hwan.

Hwang Ji Hwan was unfortunately eliminated on the show this week, however many people were touched to see Suzy with him back stage and wishing him luck.

Lee Eun Mi is the first mentor without any students for MBC’s “Birth of a Great Star”

Singer Lee Eun Mi became the first mentor to have no students for MBC’s “Birth of a Great Star”.

With the elimination of Kim Hye Ri, who was thought to be one of the top contestants, from the Top 8, Lee Eun Mi became the first mentor to have no remaining students.

On this day, Kim Hye Ri sang Wonder Girl’s “2 Different Tears” as part of the mission to “Challenge as an idol singer”. With a whole new appearance, Kim Hye Ri put on a leather jacket and smoky makeup to show a sense of strong charisma. However, the judges ultimately criticized her for her lack of rhythm.

After it was decided that Kim Hye Ri would be eliminated, Lee Eun Mi gave a supporting message to her by saying, “In this world where the end result only matters, the fact that you learned the process towards the end result is just as important as the end result itself. This whole process will be a big help to you.”

During the next broadcast, Lee Eun Mi will only be acting as a judge.

Baek Chung Gang performs ‘Heartbreaker’ on Birth of a Great Star

Contestant Baek Chung Gang is receiving interest for his “Heartbreaker” performance.

During MBC’s “Birth of a Great Star,” the Top 8 contestants received a challenge to sing an idol singer’s songs.

On this day, Baek Chung Gang showed off a different stage of Big Bang G-Dragon’s “Heartbreaker”. Baek Chung Gang, who usually wore simple and clean clothes, donned idol-like clothing and showed off his hidden dance skills.

The judges’ opinons were divided. Baek Chung Gang’s mentor, Kim Tae Won, complimented him by saying, “While others use machines to make some noises, Baek Chung Gang’s was all real. This was a perfect stage.”

Kim Yoon Ah and Shin Seung Hoon also complimented him by saying, “I was captivated by Baek Chung Gang’s charisma” and both gave him a high score of a 9.

However, Lee Eun Mi and Bang Shi Hyuk disagreed, “There was no personal feel to it. You just followed G-Dragon,” both gave him a score of 7.

Netizens disagreed with Lee Eun Mi and Bang Shi Hyuk. They praised, “We found a new Baek Chung Gang,” “I never knew Baek Chung Gang had this kind of side to him,” and “His dance skills were perfect and it was a wonderful performance.”

On the other hand, Kim Hye Ri and Noh Ji Hoon were eliminated. The remaining contestants recieved a mission to sing a Jo Young Pil song.
