Double Eyelid Surgery Thread

^ What's a feathered line above the lashes O _ O?!

Well my eyes right now look like Monica's after she got her surgery, they crease our more on the outside and the inside is just a single fold. Fold over the corner of the inner eyelids is what I currently have.. but I still want the open cut T^T

OMG, after reading this whole thread, I really want eyelid surgery now lol. Everyone's double eyelid look so goood. I used to be scared of getting them, but after hearing that it isnt that painful, I am seriously considering getting my eyes done. Okay, so I have kinda thick, fat eyelids, but I really really want natural looking double eyelids like MONICA's. So, people, please tell me if I am a good candidate for insision or non-insision?

If anything, I do not my eyes to look fake and people can tell right off the bat that I got double eyelid surgery. Any advice would be appreciated!

a feathered line is basically instead of having one visible crease or "wrinkle" line for the upper eyelid, they get a BUNCH of "wrinkle" lines in between the crease and the lash line.

finalheaven... could you PM me (or post if you don't mind)... a doctor(s) you'd recommend? are they in the US?

i've been constantly asking for doctors for awhile around soompi from people who have gotten the surgery but its different from actually asking someone who is in the med field... so many people go to Korea for it but that's just not an option for me.

^ Same here, recommendations of experienced, reputable doctors in the Beverly Hills or SF would be great.

i want to cry, lately my eyes have been seriously bugging me, i kept on curling my lashes but at the end of the day, they end up losing the curl and poking my eye. and with beach days, my eyelid glue just loses stickyness.

not to mention the fact that this eyelash is curling the wrong way and poking my eye repeatedly.

i was supposed to get surgery a year ago, but instead, my parents shipped me to cambodia for a church mission...and i was supposed to get it this summer but my sister's getting married in a month so they need money.

*sigh*...and my eyelids are a little stretched out from the glue (been using glue for almost 2 years).

my sister and i both have the fatter eyelids...she had to go to korea twice for her eyes, the first time was the one where they just make a crease and stitch it like that (non incision)...but the stitches came out, so she had to go back to get the incision...

Wow. I'm glad I was born with big eyes && "double eyelids".

The process just seems too  for me.

Well, the results are awesome! =D

Here's a pic of my eye. Please excuse all the eyeliner! i'm

an Eyeliner richard simmons since my eyelids are so big!

i'm sure you were born with those big gray eyes too. you might want some rogaine on those eyebrows too. makeup tip: excessive eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller.

lol, i just had to write that.

well i think anyone with thick eyelids automatically needs incision type of the surgery, so yeah.

thank you soompi for giving me the push i needed to do this!

Day 1

My appointment was at 9am, so my older sister drove my little brother and me to the doctor’s office. After watching a slide show of his previous “works” and listening to his explanation of the surgery, I was escorted to the operating room. Instead of using a little device to show me what my eyelid might look like, he said that it would be better if I didn’t have a preconceived idea of what it would look like.

I was very pleased that I chose this particular doctor, as he thoroughly explained the procedure and his techniques. He also said that he would take very little fat/muscle out because my eyes might look hollow. But he also said that he disapproved of the non incision method because it is not as permanent and the results are not as noticeable.

The operation: my doctor drew lines on my eyelids and showed me their placement. His assistant nurse was very friendly, and they quickly numbed my eyelids. Everyone is right—the numbing shots were the only painful part of the entire thing! While he was cutting my lids and removing junk, all I felt was pressure and tugging. The only thing I didn’t like was that they put damp cotton balls on the lower part of my eye, which felt really gross. When he was doing the stitches, I was asked to open and close my eyes. One thing I did not expect was to be so alert during the surgery. Even though they told me my lids would be heavy, and it would take some effort to open, I did not have any problem doing it. The whole thing took about 30 minutes.

After everything was all sewed up, I lay with an ice pack on my eyes for about 20 minutes. I’m all into biology and anatomy, so I asked to see what was cut out of my eyelids. A tiny strip of muscle was cut out of each eyelid. It was funny to see that I had done all of this for just a little muscle and fat!

Right now, it’s only been about 8 hours since the end of the surgery. My eyelids look alright but there is a bit of bruising already creeping up the outer corner of my right eye. The stitches are a little uncomfortable, but not painful. The cuts haven’t gotten crusty yet, so I’m looking forward to that for tomorrow morning. I’m obviously very bored right now, which is why I’m typing this.

Overall, I’m very pleased with my first day of surgery. Although I’ll have to wait another few weeks for the swelling to subside, my eyelids look fairly even and hopefully will turn out natural looking.

Wow, thats a lot of money. But I can understand since it's surgery. But question, did you guys pay all of it at once? Or did you do payments? Oh btw, the surgery looks great. =)

Question to mangmang22 - How much did you pay for your surgery?

:( glue stretches out eyelids? i thought it was only tape. ugh. my mom wont let me get eyelid surgery till next year.

when I used tape and took it off at the end of the day, I just had to put water on it and it came off easily without pulling or being stuck to my eyelid but when I used glue and tried to take it off it was harder because little bits of glue were stuck on my eyelid and when I would take/rub it off, my skin was wrinkly. for me, tape didn't really stretch out my eyelid as much as glue did but I guess it depends..

wow okay i just looked at the pics of rainie yang a couple posts back and i just gotta say that even though she says she's natural, i still don't believe it one bit.

after a lecture from one of the docs i intern for he said that one way you can tell someone has had eyelid surgery is if they have a medial epicanthal fold yet a wide upper eyelid crease that's parallel to the lash line. her "feather lines" in between the crease are also a BIG give away that she got it done. i'm not trying to bash the girl (hey i'm gonna be doing the same surgery on people like her too!) i'm just trying to be realistic. it honestly looks as if she had eyelids similar to monica's before but wanted them to be bigger and seperate.

also, big tip for all you wonderful members, many of you seem to have your heart set on getting eyelid surgery but please PLEASE don't bring pics of celebs into the docs office saying "i want something like this" or "give me eyes like hers!", in the end the doc will probably turn you away and you'll end up wasting your time and energy. during med school all students have to take an EXHAUSTIVE course on ethics and psychology and well basically the doc will think that you have "issues with self -esteem" and because of this future docs have to somewhat swear on an oath on improving individuals not changing them. just wanted to put that out there for ya guys and gals because i've seen this happen way too many times.
