American remake of UK version
25jje5c.jpg

I knew from the beginning this was going to be disappointing. But seriously, it's Skins. I hate the MTV version, but I'm still going to watch it because it is about partying (and the repercussions).

I wish they would have just created their own characters versus remaking old ones because that way, there would be less comparison. Throughout the entire episode I was comparing it to the first episode because it pretty much was the same scene by scene. (Although there were some major differences.)

What did you guys think?

although the first episode is an exact copy of UK Skins, the producers said that it would eventually develop different storylines... like the US adaptation of The Office.

I didn't watch this yet, but I saw the US teaser and was soo disappointed. Couldn't stop comparing the two. They probably did an exact copy because they wanted to test out the pilot episode.

you just can't win without UK Cassie

I could only bear to watch about half of the first episode before flipping it off in disgust/embarassment. "Gosh golly"!? o_O Tony would never say that. Also over half the actors, their acting is just so beyond horrible. I know it's the first episode and all, but the male actors just bother me so much. Tony is supposed to be the epitome of cool but his voice tone and posture seem like he's trying way too hard to emulate Nicholas Hoult while trying to do that bubble gum smile but he just can't do it. And Stanley and Chris are just irritating. Abbud I don't really care about because I never really cared for Anwar anyways. The only ones I liked/could tolerate were Michelle (basically the same as April Pearson, more or less), Daisy (I like her more than Jal), and Tea, who is awesome. Cadie... jesus christ what have they done to Cassie. Cassie was whimsical and funny and so sweet while completely insane, while Cadie just screams serial killer.

Maxxie was replaced by Tea. The opted the gay character for a lesbian. And I suppose I dislike this version more because of the horrible acting. The UK Skins hired people with little to no acting in their background but these actors need a lot of training.

I watched the first episode and couldn't stop but cringe.

And, yes, I was super pissy when they replaced Maxxie with Tea. I honestly think that the storyline is gonna change completely because of this change. Don't we all remember what happened at the Russia trip in UK Skins? Making the change was a big no no.

And Effy. OH MY POOR EFFY. </3

The acting is the worst part. The guy who plays Tony looks so forced.

And who else agrees this guy looks like Bruno Mars?

^I agree with the Bruno Mars remark! I can totally see it!

Yeah, the acting was bad.. but so was their chemistry. Skins UK's cast's were so different yet so alike and it showed seamlessly on camera. The first episode was what got me hooked on skins but the US version was just awful. They could have done better at casting. Like Termination_Override said, Tony was suppose to epitomize that cool/hot guy could get away with anything... Yet US skin's Tony is far from that. I can't stop thinking that he's too short for the role =_=;;

I watched the original SKINS and I loved it a lot.

Then I tried to watch the first episode of the MTV version... but I had to stop less than half way through.

The acting was so forced and the casting was all wrong. I cringed the whole way through.

I watched the original Skins which was pretty good.

Sadly for the US version, their acting is really nothing compared to the UK version.

Joe Dempsie as Chris & Mike Bailey as Sid, they were amazing.

But this US version does look interesting.

Yeahhhh. The acting is pretty bad. I stayed up late one night and saw one of the episodes of the lesbian italian girl doing it with the boyy and WOW, was it a shocker. I could see why it made on the news for child pornography. It made me cringe a bit too.

Finally watched some of it last night...I couldnt finish it. Tony is such...such...A BAD ACTOR. Which makes me really sad because he was one of my favorite characters. :\ Probably the only person that was slightly decent was 'Katie' and 'Chris'. so yeah....this show blows.

i refuse to watch it.

i'm sick of the US ripping off of good foreign films and trying to "make their own versions".

I agree. Why mess with perfection?

Is airing the original that painful? I could easily see the UK version of Skins on HBO or Showtime.
