Who are Standing EGG?

Standing EGG is a three-member ("egg") project group/producing team -- Egg 1, Egg 2, and Egg 3. They're all very behind-the-scenes, so no one knows very much (if anything about them). As far as I can tell, both Eggs 1 and 2 are guys. Egg 2's real name is 진경민 (Jin Kyung-min), and when he's not doing Standing EGG he works as a vocal trainer for the likes of SG Wannabe, DNT, and others. I don't know what Egg 3's gender is, and I don't know Eggs 1 or 3's real names. Egg 1 appears to maintain the Facebook page, while Egg 2 maintains their official site. I have no idea what Egg 3 does.

But if the Eggs are the producers, who makes the music?

The Eggs write all of the music themselves (I understand that Eggs 1 and 3 write the music while Egg 2 arranges the vocals), but they employ a "live team" to help them perform. I get the impression that the team lineup will change with every album, but for now it consists of Clover (guitar, vocals), Han Kyul (double bass), and Hana (djembe).

So..who are these people?

Clover is an indie musician in his own right (the Standing EGG team produced his single as well; you can find the links below), but I don't know anything about the other two.

Do the live team have websites? What about Twitter accounts? I want to follow Clover/Han Kyul/Hana!

I know for a fact that Clover doesn't use Twitter (a friend met him in Hongdae and asked), but I don't think Han Kyul or Hana do either. If they have their own sites I don't know about them.

Why should I listen to them?

Because they're amazing and wonderful and talented and darling people. Because they care more about their music and their fans than making money. Because when you want a break from prepackaged Kpop idols, Standing EGG is the perfect choice.

I've only ever talked to Egg 1 in Korean so I don't know what his English is like, but judging from the Facebook page I think it's not too bad. Egg 2 has decent English, but I wouldn't tweet him anything too complicated. Neither will tweet in English unless prompted, though, so don't follow them if you expect English tweeting.

Egg 2 likes to retweet anything related to Standing EGG, and sometimes just eggs in general. Egg 1 likes to tweet about his food and where they are on the music charts. Egg 1 has also been on a James Blunt kick recently (someone gave him a CD as a present) and keeps tweeting links to his music. I find this hilarious and adorable.

Both Eggs are EXTREMELY friendly and genuinely care about their fans. If you follow them, they'll follow you back, and they almost always thank you for mentioning their music. If you make an effort to have a real conversation with them, they'll make an effort to keep up with what's going on with you. (Both have several thousand people they follow, though, so they might not catch everything.) If you have questions, they'll do their best to answer them promptly and completely.

Standing Egg releases “Have You Ever Fallen In Love” feat. Ra.D

On January 17th, Standing Egg released a new digital song featuring the talented Ra.D!

The song is an acoustic remake of their “Have You Ever Fallen In Love” track from their debut album, “With.” The original gave a ’70s soul feel with keyboard sounds, but the acoustic remake features a lighter, soothing quality to the sweet track.

Standing Egg releases second digital single, “Fly”

On April 1st, acoustic indie band Standing Egg released their collaboration theme song for the 2011 Sky Expo, “Fly“!

Known for their soothing, easy-going songs, Standing Egg took on a new challenge this time by going for a light rock beat to fit the expo’s theme of “Spring, blue sky, let’s fly!”

“Fly” holds a message of hope and encouragement to the youth who have given up their dreams, and asks them to “draw their dreams once more high up in the sky.” Befitting of its message, the song features a bright and refreshing feel.

They commented, “This isn’t just a theme song, but a song under our name as well. We wanted to set it apart from the other logo/theme songs by making sure that the song still held the color of Standing Egg, but is simple enough to be memorable.”

Standing Egg will be returning with a mini-album this summer!

Standing Egg releases MV for “Fly”

Having released their latest single, titled “Fly“, a couple of weeks ago, Standing Egg have finally released an accompanying music video for the track!

The indie band produced “Fly” as the theme song for the 2011 Sky Expo, which was also titled “Fly”. The song encourages young teens and adults to never let go of their aspirations and to keep pursing their greatest dreams and hopes.

Keeping with the theme of the song, the music video was set at the runway of an airport, with bright and colorful airplanes in the background.

Standing Egg releases third digital single, “Ache”

Having just released their second digital single, “Fly“, a month ago, Standing Egg has returned with another single, “Ache“, featuring the talented female vocalist, Windy.

Standing Egg has been on a roll this year with the diversity of genres they’ve been pursuing. This time, they’ve created an easy-listening track with a sound reminiscent of the Carpenters that fits well with the crisp and clear voice of Windy.

Standing Egg releases new MV for “Farewell For You, Not Yet For Me”

On June 14th, Standing Egg released a new music video for “Farewell For You, Not Yet For Me“, a track from their first album released back in 2010.

The video features guest vocalist Han So Hyun from 3rd Coast, and contains footage from their first solo concert at the Welcomm Theater. Although the song itself is an old release, putting faces to the music definitely brings a new level of understanding to the track. The group brings their characteristic serene feel to this music video, which serves as a nice treat for those who missed the concert.

Having released a string of digital singles all year long, Standing Egg will also be making their comeback with a full mini-album on July 7th.

I love Standing Egg too. Their songs are so mellow and heartfelt. You can feel the emotions put into every song. ^^

I own their first album With. I also have their 36.5 mini album and I love every song on this record like Yes, You or Blue Sky.

I just saw that they released a new mini album today on May 22. It is titled Young and all the songs are on their YouTube channel along with the instrumentals: standing EGG YouTube Channel
