tvN’s highly anticipated romantic comedy K-drama “Romance Is a Bonus Book,” starring Lee Jong Suk and Lee Na Young, is premiering tonight (January 26).

The drama takes place in the world of literature, and aside from the not-often-employed backdrop of book publishing, there is no shortage of reasons why viewers are looking forward to this drama.

Here are four reasons to tune in to “Romance Is a Bonus Book,” as revealed by the drama production staff.

Lee Na Young’s return to K-drama after 9 years

The fact that this is our first glimpse of Lee Na Young in K-dramaland after nine long years might be reason enough to watch this drama. Her return may not have been expected, but it’s more than welcome.

The actress said, “Kang Dan (the name of her character) is someone who stays positive and doesn’t give up on herself, even when times get tough. I want viewers to feel warmth from this character and be able to relate to her.”

Lee Jong Suk’s first romantic comedy

In addition, Lee Jong Suk, long-praised for his ability to bring characters to life, tackles his first romantic comedy with “Romance Is a Bonus Book.” The actor plays Eun Ho, a star writer and the youngest editor-in-chief ever to take office at his publishing company.

Lee Jong Suk described his character with affection, saying, “He’s a charming character that I want to be more like in real life.”

“Romance Is a Bonus Book” tells the story of the people often overlooked, the names on the final page of a book. Having conducted thorough research of the book publishing world, writer Jung Hyun Jung brings to life vivid characters, whose struggles in the office will be moments all of us can relate to, all packaged into a light-hearted office comedy and romance.

The publishing company is a collection of characters in its own right: Kim Jae Min (Kim Tae Woo), the boss who rubber-bands between being a cool guy and a nagging old man; Go Yoo Sun (Kim Yoo Mi), a workaholic “ice witch”; Bong Ji Hong (Jo Han Chul), a veteran editor with a passionate heart; Seo Young Ah (Kim Sun Young), a realist working mom; and more.

Lee Jong Suk has shared new behind-the-scenes photos from his upcoming drama “Romance is a Bonus Book”!

On January 26, ahead of the premiere of his very first romantic comedy, the actor posted two photos of himself on the set of tvN’s “Romance is a Bonus Book” on Instagram. The photos show Lee Jong Suk looking dapper in a fashionable all-black outfit, wearing a serious expression as he monitors his own footage from a take.

The actor also wrote in the caption, “Today is the first episode [of] ‘Romance is a Bonus Book.'”

 

 

“Romance is a Bonus Book” is a new drama starring Lee Na Young as Kang Dani, a former copywriter who once enjoyed a flourishing career, but who is now down on her luck and struggling to find work. Lee Jong Suk will play the role of Cha Eun Ho, a brilliant and famous writer who works as the editor-in-chief of the publishing company where Kang Dani finally manages to find a job. The two also share a special connection from the past.

I can so much relate with Kang Dan-I with the struggles of having to force yourself to get back on your feet after a failed marriage...and the difficulties of being a single parent to a kid in your charge...but I really wish...really really wish...I can also relate to the having-a-handsome-Cha-Eun-Ho-in-your-life part. Anyway...my good looks loses just one...just one shower under the rain to Dan-I's...that very slight edge tsk tsk
