dvd to ipod converter

i need to look for a dvd to ipod converter that is free and full version and of course legal online.

Handbrake should rip DVDs into mp4. I believe MP4 is supported by iTunes.

I've been trying a lot of softwares.

The particular software that I'm using is iLead DVD Ripper Platinum.

It seems to be the best to me.

For pure ripping, I suggest DVD Decrypter or DVDShrink. iLead is not free so I wouldn't even bother with it.

There are other programs to encode files with. MediaCoder has a portable device version which works pretty well (you can see a sample before it is encoded). Videora is another one that is fine. Both are entirely free as far as I'm aware.
