Biography

Yoon Jong-shin made his debut as a guest vocalist of the band 015B in 1990 by singing “In an Empty Street.” While actively participating in the production of all 015B’s albums, Yoon Jong-shin consistently presented collections of his own music. Yoon Jong-shin’s music can be described as ‘comforting and lyrical.’From the first to third albums, Yoon Jong Shin worked with other composers where most tracks were filled with ballads. However from the 4th album, he began to make his own albums with his own style of ballad songs. In his 5th album, Yoon worked with his close musical colleague Yoo Hee-yeol and presented a classical and retro style throughout the tracks.  

In November, 1996, Yoon Jong-shin presented his 6th album just before leaving for his military service. In February 1999, he returned from his military service and released his 7th album entitled “The Latter Part.” By naming his album “The Latter Part,” he wanted to show his fans that it’s a new start of his life. A year later, he released his 8th album “A Guideline for Separated People.” In July 2001, he released “Shade,” an album filled with summer songs. In 2005, after a 4-year hiatus, Yoon Jong-shin released his 10th album. In November 2008, after a 3-year hiatus, Yoon Jong Shin released his 11th album. In 2010, he held several concerts in celebration of his 20th anniversary since debut. In addition, he also released his 12th album.  

He is one of the most popular songwriters in the Korean music industry, writing music and lyrics for songs such as Lena Park’s “You Mean Everything to Me” and Sung Si-kyung’s “On the Street.” Along with active musical performances and productions, he appeared/co-MC in  many variety shows such as Family Outing.

Forgot to mention that this year is his 20th anniversary since debut!! He's celebrating it with 2 concerts (June 2010 and Sept. 2-4, 2010).

'Snowy Village in October 2010' confirmed lineup - Shin Seung Hun, Lena Park, Yoon Jong Shin, Hong Kwang-Ho

The lineup has been finalized for the 10-year anniversary 'Snowy Village in October 2010'. Shin Seung Hun, Lena Park, Yoon Jong Shin and Hong Kwang-Ho are confirmed to be performing. The concert will also feature a crossover with classical music led by a renowned conductor, Seo Hui Tae, of the Millennium Symphony Orchestra.  

The concert will be held at Yonsei University in Seoul for two days, Oct 30th and 31st.

Kang Seungyeon makes his debut on M! Countdown

Kang Seungyeon,a Top 4 contestant, on ‘Superstar K2′, was eliminated on last week’s episode of the show. His last charismatic performance was a cover of Yoon Jong Shin’s song, ‘By Instinct.’

Even after his elimination, Kang Seungyeon’s popularity did not die down; rather, it increased to the point where the original song – released back in May – started to climb up various music charts once more. Yesterday, Kang Seungyeon’s cover was released online, and it should come as no surprise that his song also climbed to high positions on various music charts.

Comment: I already liked the song when it was first released back in May. Most of Jong Shin's fans already knew that it's a good song since they were hoping he would sing it in his Sept. concert. I guess it's good that he's able to receive some love for his music through Superstar K. As for Kang Seungyeon, he has good singing abilities, but I just don't like his voice. I prefer Yoon Jong Shin's version of the song.  I read somewhere about how a lot of people thinks Kang Seungyeon's version is better than the original version. Wait, what!!!!

As a FYI, Jong Shin doesn't sing songs if he doesn't believe he sings it best. (From an old interview discussing the song 'On the Street' which he gave to Sung Si Kyung). When it comes to producing/composing music, he has extremely high expectations, that drives some artists crazy. lol! (From YSMM2, Jo Sung Mo's story about Jong Shin's producing a song for him, lol, and I think he mentioned it again on The Beatles Code)

Yoon Jong Shin performed on SBS Kim Jung Eun's Chocolate music show on 10/11/28. He performed:

Yoon Jong Shin's 3rd and last concert of the year is on Dec. 31, 2010. It's titled 'History of Love - Chapter 3: Can't Live without you"

Breaking news: Yoon Jong Shin is a father of three!

Singer-songwriter Yoon Jong Shin is now a proud father of three.

On December 13, 2010, at 6:00 am, Yoon Jong Shin announced that his wife, Jeon Mi ra, gave birth to a girl, via his Twitter account (@MelodyMonthly). The baby was born at a healthy 2.72 kilograms. Both the child and mother are in good condition.

Yoon Jong Shin and Jeon Mi-ra married in 2006. The couple has a son born on November 2007, and a daughter born on September 2009.
