Protagonist of MBC new series 'Playful kiss' Kim HyunJoong dwelved into script study.

In the drama, Kim HyunJoong plays the role Baek Seung-jo who possesses beauty, knowledge and skills, who is well-loved and highly sought after. Whatever it may be, so long as he sees it once, he will be able to understand and remembers in his brain. This genius character is able to read across 20K number of characters in just 1 minute, and he could also memorize about 400 words/phrases simultaneously. With such a role he has to play, HyunJoong is certainly given the task to memorize and go under study, which is what makes his role so different from the others'.

Group Eight personnel, "Because Baek Seung-jo is a genius in the drama, there's alot of 'professional' content in each and every area that requires his professional knowledge. In the upper part of drama, most content will include knowledge of Mathematics, Science formulas, general knowledge, etc. And that's why memorizing and studying of this drama's script takes up alot more time than other dramas".

Like what G8 personnel has said, ranging from the LOG formulas in Mathematics to nutrition/dietetics, architecture, hanja (chinese characters) idioms, "Baek Seung-jo is just like a walking encyclopaedia". And with that, it's obvious how stressful it could be for Kim HyunJoong to do this every day.

They added on, "In the beginning, we were quite worried because these are difficult words that most people don't use in daily lives. But because of HyunJoong's personality which will not hesitate to try out new and different challenges, he treat it like absorbing new knowledge and goes by rehearsing his script that way". Besides diligently memorizing his scripts, HyunJoong also has been practising tennis. Because his character is the national player type, HyunJoong's also been taking private lessons from professional tennis coaches for that.

Drama airs September 1.

08/11 [news] Kim HyunJoong-Jung SoMin, Touch or No Touch ‘Mischievous Kiss’

Jung SoMin, Lee TaeSung, Yoon SeungAh, Jang AhYoung and Annyoung Bada were all present for this shooting, and the highlight of this days’ shooting is in the later part on Kim HyunJoong and Jung SoMin’s mischievous kiss. Due to the unique nature of this scene, the considerate producers only allowed few numbers of staffs to be present and went into intense shooting.

With an in-dept study on the pros and cons of the original comic and Taiwan version of drama, and in order to make a perfect concept in Korea version of ‘Mischievous Kiss’, the producers paid attention to every single detail, even down to where the fingers should be placed. Kim HyunJoong, with his prior experience in ‘Boys Over Flowers’, naturally lead Jung SoMin in posing, telling her where the arms should be positioned, etc, ^o^ they filmed with affection making the atmosphere at the filming scene comfortable.

In the intense shooting, one staff who was watching their lips seemingly touching or not, sadly ordered them “Just a little more!” making the people who were present laugh.

Micky Yoochun's 'Sung gyun kwan Scandal' is the Number 1 most anticipated latter-half-year drama.

In the survey that was conducted by Joynews24 beginning last July 30 onwards titled "Most anticipated drama in latter half year?", 'SGK Scandal' came in first with a total of 3,118 votes (41%) out of a total of 7,607 who participated in the voting, as of August 11 morning.

'SGK Scandal' is set in the Chosun time period days with Sung Gyun Kwan as the background setting, and talks about the love and friendship stories of the young, pure 4 buddies.This drama is the first korean drama of DBSG member Micky Yoochun, which he's been receiving attention about. This drama consists of Park MinYoung who will be disguised as male, Yoo Ah-in, Song Joong-ki, Seo Hyo-rim, etc new generation stars, and is receiving hot concern. It will begin its first broadcast beginning Augsut 30 through KBS 2TV.

Up next is MBC new Wed-Thurs drama 'Playful Kiss'. It's received a total of 2,787 votes (37%) and coming in 2nd position. 'Playful Kiss' is the first main lead drama of Kim HyunJoong who rose to stardom with 'Boys over Flowers' which brought about buzz, and also consists of 'Bad guy' newbie actress Jung Somin as his partner. This drama is a new work of 'Goong' and 'Boys over Flowers' production company Group Eight, and is receiving keen interest to whether or not it will be another hit.

Up behind is SBS Wed-Thurs drama 'My girlfriend is a Gumiho' which will begin its squarebox telecast on August 11 (today). It receives 920 votes (12%) and coming in 3rd. This drama talks about a man's story of how he incidentally chances upon a Gumiho and falls in love with her.

'Shining inheritance' Lee Seung-gi and CF queen Shin Min-ah, along with 'Fantasy couple', 'Minamshineyo' script writers -- Hong sisters, Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, this drama has already been receiving much anticipation prior to its broadcast. Before this drama is to be aired, Lee Seung-gi and Shin Min-ah already released still cut of their 'Guseul Kiss' which created buzz and this was a preview to their invasion of Wed-Thurs squarebox (TV).

Behind them is Rain and Lee NaYoung, Lee JungJin' KBS 2TV drama 'Escaper', which collated 369 votes (5%), coming in 4th position. In 5th is Jang Hyuk, Ha JiWon and Yoon SangHyun's new SBS 'Secret Garden' drama. In 6th is Goo HyeSun and Daniel Choi's 'The Musical'.

sigh... a picture is worth a thousand words - and the latest one just screamed CHEMISTRY!

again, i hate putting periods on my statements cause i might eat my words later. however, i think it's evident that Jung So Min and KHJ are comfortable enough to fill the screen with romantic chemistry. i'm really hopeful that this drama can rise above expectations.

still, i'm not raising the bar for my expectations. i'm not gonna hope that this drama rise above ISWAK-TKA combined nor follow the manga ever-so-closely. i'll just enjoy this drama just cause I really love this story. thanks for the pics/news/discussion, you guys.

as far as i know, math would be easy on him compared to any subjects, he was great in math when he was in grade school that he won awards (but then again it was years ago)

but i do know he was good in memorizing,he or someone commented before that he memorized the script quite fast...

so Seung-jo is not the only one that is a genuis but also hyunjoong.. kekekeke.. just my thought...

Kim Hyun-joong’s Playful (almost) Kiss

The first stills of Playful Kiss gave us the bickering side to the main couple’s relationship, so now it’s time for some skinship! Well, almost skinship as the leads, Kim Hyun-joong and Jung So-min, tease us with this almost-kiss.

I’ve said it before, but they do really look cute together. (I’m approaching the drama with optimism, honest! Wary optimism, but still hopeful.)

Jung So-min said that she still gets stuck calling him “Hyun-joong sunbae-nim,” which is the polite way to address her elder. She added that she’s working to meld her character, who is not too bright and chases after her crush (who is her complete opposite), with the character of the original. (Although, judging from people’s comments, hopefully she finds a way to avoid the annoying aspects of the role and brings out the appealing side.)

Playful Kiss airs on September 1.
