Guest xblubear
EDIT: with newer charts, these are from a Michael Jackson forum so it explains the comparison Whitney Houston's vocal range should be around 3 octaves is this belting or would head voice count too? I guess both would count including chest and mixed voice as long as the singer can hit the notes some fanmade videos that demonstrate the vocal range (updated with more and other members' contributions) Christina Aguilera Beyonce (live) Georgia Brown (the record notes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQS_2QmruX0 Mariah Carey (live) Celine Dion (live) Whitney Houston (live) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9atPiS2tEo Janet Jackson Michael Jackson Myles Kennedy Alicia Keys Leona Lewis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5o8mopTnj4 Freddie Mercury http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KY8Z69Oowc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWIaoj4dGq8 Britney Spears http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njDi63lC138 Carrie Underwood Ann Wilson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3mXUCCO7_I Jane Zhang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T3e2dUGkL8 Justin Timberlake / Usher / Ne-Yo (all in the same video)

Guest xblubear
does anyone know where Leona Lewis would stand? according to wikipedia, she is a mezzo-soprano so she can hit notes from around A3 to A5 (about 2 to 3 octaves) EDIT: I found this video of Leona Lewis' vocal range (D3-Eb6)(3 octaves) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5o8mopTnj4

Guest MqN
Not sure of his vocal range, but I'm absolutely in love with him, Arnel Pineda of Journey. I also love Ann Wilson of Heart. Both are incredible and I'm quite sure their vocal range are equally as impressive. LOL, I've been listening to old rock songs lately.

Guest xblubear
^I can't find much information for the exact vocal ranges of Asian singers. and I'm not train by ears to recognize notes without relying on sheet music. Anyways, this is something interesting I found about Michael Jackson's voice. There's teeny tiny bit of evidence of Michael singing in a clear classical soprano voice on 'Who Is It,' showing off his skill in different vocal styles. At the very beginning of 'Who Is It,' before the beat kicks in and there's a very clear note, that sounds almost like nothing but an instrument, or a classical choir. With the help of Linda Harmon... that's MICHAEL! Get your headphones out and ram them in your ears and you can distinguish him from the woman slightly. It's 100% confirmed, it's in the Dangerous booklet.
Guest dainanda123
Okay so I just looked up Georgia Brown....and my GOSH! Her vocal range is crazy ridiculous!!!! MY GOOODNESS!!!!! O_O and I thought Mariah was a beast. Mariah's still my girl though, when I was little she was the person I looked up to vocally.

Black_Meddle
Vitas - Seriously, this guy has to be a Eunuch or something. There's no way a man should be able to hit those kind of notes. O_o Vitas - Crazy Russian singer Vitas - lucia di lammermoor Jim Gillette from Nitro could hit some pretty high notes as well: Nitro - Machinegun Eddie Nitro - Freight Train (off-note, Michael Angelo Batio is inhumanly fast and good at shredding those guitars. Yes, guitars. He plays 4 guitars throughout this video, lol) And of course, you can't forget about Rob Halford of Judas Priest fame: Rob Halford compilation of his best screams/high notes Judas Priest - Painkiller Now for some stuff on the opposite side of the spectrum =D : John Gallagher of Dying Fetus. I have no idea how the guy gets it so low and gutteral: Dying Fetus - Your Treachery Will Die With You Erick Rutan of Hate Eternal. God damn, his music is some of the most intense I've ever heard. He does layer the vocals in some parts (making some of the most brutal growls I've ever heard) but even the parts where it's just him growling are low and gutteral as hell: Hate Eternal - Bringer of Storms Helge Stang, formerly of Equilibrium. Guy has some crazy high Black Metal shrieks and really low and gutteral death growls. Despite that statement, this may be one of the happiest Metal songs you'll ever hear. =D Equilibrium - Blut Im Auge ^lol love the chorus. Freddy Lim of ChthoniC. Freddy's got some crazy-high Black Metal shrieks, rasps and screams: ChthoniC - 49 Theurgy Chains
