MBC Announces Details of Upcoming Korean Music Wave Concert

2012-08-20 16:37  l   CJ E&M enewsWorld Stewart Hohttp://enewsworld.mnet.com/enews/cont..  Some of K-Pop’s biggest stars will mobilize in Incheon in September for the upcoming 2012 Korean Music Wave concert. Scheduled to take place on September 15 at 7 p.m. (KST) at Incheon’s Munhak Stadium, the star-studded concert was created by a joint effort between MBC Music and HH Company to create a large-scale music festival to bring Koreans and foreigners together through music.

This year’s lineup features some of K-Pop’s biggest names including Super Junior, Kara, FT Island, Wooyoung of 2PM, 4Minute, APink, Teen Top, ZE:A, Girls’ Day, Rainbow and B.A.P.




HH Company’s CEO, Lee Hyuk Jae shared, “We’re happy the 2012 Korean Music Wave is happening for the fourth consecutive year. Rather than being just another music festival, you can look at the festival as a place where music and culture will come together. We also believe this will help show that Incheon is not just another city in Korea but a place where Korea’s culture is growing.” 

Tickets for the festival will open at 8 p.m. (KST) on Yes24 on August 23.

The two big camps for girl groups have always been sexy versus cute and it seems to remain that way through this summer as well.

In the 'cute' camp are RAINBOW, A-Pink, Girl's Day and AOA. RAINBOW will return with "Sunshine," while A-Pink will come back with 7 members after the exit of Hong Yookyung. Girl's Day and AOA have not announced their official comeback dates but are expected to return sometime in July.

Dal Shabet and Girl's Day made their comebacks in recent weeks. There have been a slew of articles about them, mostly their outfits on stage. Dal Shabet has sported a skirt that is no longer than several inches with even shorter hot pants underneath. Swinging their hips, they sing "Look at my legs, they are pretty."

Especially at album launching events like showcases and press conferences, reporters never fail to ask how the artist feels about returning to K-pop in the middle of the battle of April, May, June or July. Since April, that has been the pattern. The term surfaced back then because of the collision course expected between Psy and Jo Yong Pil.

Sure enough, April's fierce competition gave way to 'May'hem with the comebacks of Lee Hyori, Shinhwa, 4minute and Roy Kim, and June has seen Sistar, Girl's Day, Rainbow, Dal Shabet, Ivy and Kim Ye-rim thus far.

Unlike many other singers who received a lot of criticism for re-making the national anthem, Minah sang the original anthem beautifully. Also, even though her name was shown incorrectly, she stated, "It's okay. Being able to sing the national anthem is a family honor."

Lotte Duty Free has announced the amazing lineup for their annual customer appreciation event, the Lotte Family Festival, and it is full of some of K-Pop's hottest stars!
