Some of these facts we already knew but she had mentioned again in her SMART Hallyu Hangout:

Son Ye-Jin: 'Crash Landing' crush reveals 8 facts about her

MANILA, Philippines — Hallyu superstar Son Ye-jin sat with her fans for the Smart-hosted fan virtual event on its website, Smart Hallyu Hangouts, last Friday. She spoke with "Nonstop 2" star and popular comedian Park Kyung-lim. Korean expatriate and TV host Sam Oh served as host and translator in the Philippine livestream.

The "Crash Landing On You" star also revealed interesting facts and trivia about herself during the interview.

1. She had a stunt double and did the English dub for her Smart commercial.

Ye-jin found her experience working with Smart's TVC fascinating because there were two teams that made it possible. The Philippines and South Korea team worked remotely together to create the unforgettable commercial that stars her and her "CLOY" reel and real-life boyfriend Hyun Bin.

She had a stunt double for the motorcycle scene. The only real part in there was when she was in the act of riding the motorcycle.

2. The actress also revealed that she has been studying English for the last 15 years.

"I don't really speak them but I practice very, very hard to get the pronunciation for the TVC," she said.

She feels that she's "still in the same spot" after 15 years of studying how to speak English. Ye-jin said she's been busy working for 20 years with 30 projects to her name that somehow got in the way of her learning the language.

3. She was not sure if she could bring to life her character, Yoon Se-ri, on the small screen.

Make no mistake, Ye-jin has a lot of iconic characters in her two-decade career. Her longtime fans can name a handful, from her "The Classic" days to romantic-comedy series like her Lee Min-ho starrer "Personal Taste."

Yoon Se-ri, undoubtedly, is among the popular ones, especially those who are new to K-drama. But did you know: She wasn't sure about the project?

Ye-jin said that she found the script of "CLOY" so funny and she enjoyed it so much. She, however, felt a lot of pressure because she wasn't sure if she could bring the script to life and "do justice" for it.

Park Ji-eun was at the helm of its screenplay. She is the writer behind hit series "My Love From The Star" and "Legend of the Blue Sea." She also does a lot of scripts for variety shows in South Korea.

"The writer wrote for a comedy show so timing is very crucial," Ye-jin shared. She also recalled how she had a great chemistry acting out with Yang Kyung-won, who played Pyo Chi-su, one of the underlings of Capt. Ri (Hyun Bin).

Seri, a famous fashion designer in South Korea, finds herself trapped in North Korea after a paragliding incident. She lands in the home of Capt. Ri who has four underlings who help him hide and conceal Se-ri's real identity while finding ways for her to go back to South Korea.

Se-ri and Chi-su often found themselves at odds with each other because he is suspicious of South Koreans who enter his native North Korea.

4. She's naughty and playful.

Yes, most of her works may be melodramas, but Son is rather the opposite of her many characters.

"I think I like it best when I can make someone laugh. There's something about being able to do that to another person -- to be happy. I'm normally naughty, playful and I also like to laugh myself," Ye-jin answered when asked about the aspect of herself that she likes the most.

This also proves she's one of South Korea's best actresses although she chooses to downplay it, especially when she was asked during the event if she is Korea's best actress. She immediately answered no, but with the goading of Kyung-lim, she hesitantly said, "A little, maybe."

5. If given the chance to live again, she does not want to be reincarnated as Son Ye-jin.

Shocker! Even Sam Oh and Park Kyung-lim were surprised. But Ye-jin stood firm with her answer, saying that she's already lived that life. In her next life, she would want to be born with the ability to fly.

6. She totally blocks off social media when not working AND does not search her name on the Internet.

Unlike other famous people, Ye-jin does not spend her time Googling herself.

"When I'm working, maybe, I will check. If there is a new show out, I will check out what people are saying. But when I'm resting like right now, I will go the entire week sometimes without checking the news online. I'm committed to my resting period," she said.

7. Once a project is done, she does not rewatch herself on the screen again.

Never was her answer. She gets awkward and embarrassed so she immediately flips the channel when she sees herself on the screen.

8. She drinks real alcohol in her dramas.

Hats off to her for being professional! Ye-jin said she drinks them all —  beer and soju — because these actually help in her "drunk scenes."

She's a light drinker, though. She revealed that even one drink can turn her "red." She's also the hyper kind of drunk.

Official news/Crashing Landing On You is getting an American remake. It was mentioned briefly before when Studio Dragon and Skydance news came about. Hotel Del Luna and The Cursed are other Studio Dragon kdramas that have been mentioned previously in news that are also getting remakes.

Studio Dragon is going to make a remake of "Crash Landing on You" that is speeding up its entry into the US

86226_89739_543.jpg

Studio Dragon, the leading producer of Korean Wave content, is expected to join hands with the US production company Sky Dance to produce a remake of "Crash Landing on You."

According to related industries on the 20th, Studio Dragon is working on a project to localize the US by utilizing the "Crash Landing Intellectual Property (IP)" of Love. A Studio Dragon official said, "There are several projects that are exchanging IP with Sky Dance, and the crash landing of love is also one of the projects under way." "Detailed production schedule, timing and direction have not been confirmed yet."

This is part of a collaboration project with Skydance, a US production company that signed a strategic partnership in February last year. Skydance is a production company that produced films such as "Terminator," "6 Underground," "Mission Impossible," dramas "Grace and Frankie," and "Ultimate Carbon."

Studio Dragon has been actively exchanging original IPs owned by both companies along with Sky Dance and has been promoting a number of joint planning and development projects. The crash landing of love is also being carried out as one of the joint planning and development projects. Prior to this, the two companies had confirmed the production of a remake of "Hotel Del Luna." Including this, four Studio Dragon IP works are currently being developed as remakes.

Not only Studio Dragon IP but also Sky Dance's IP is working together. Currently, the two companies are developing a series of script dramas called 'Queens of the Desserts' using the IP that has Sky Dance. It is also known that other original IP developments owned by Skydance are being discussed.

In addition, the two companies have confirmed series orders for Apple TV+Hyang original dramas, further enhancing cooperation on US projects. "The Big Door Prize," which has confirmed its production, is a 10-part human drama that combines fantasy and mystery genres, based on MO Walsh's novel of the same name. Beyond the sale of finished content or remake rights, Studio Dragon will be the first studio in Korea to produce a series of American dramas for global viewers.

"The reason why we are paying attention to Studio Dragon's entry into the US market is that the production cost of American dramas is similar to that of Korean dramas. It is equivalent to Studio Dragon's annual sales of five episodes a year and one season each, " an industry source said.

Meanwhile, Studio Dragon is planning a total of 18 projects, including "The Big Door Prize," which has confirmed production, and projects to localize successful IPs in Korea, including "Crash Landing On You" and "Hotel Del Luna."

Crash Landing On You is getting a documentary made in Japan

22OZZN6TWL_6.jpg

"Hand Sick" by Japan, the country of fanatics.

The popularity of Korean dramas in Japan with the drama "Crash Landing on You" has not cooled down for more than a year and a half. Rather, it is called the "third Korean Wave" and seems to expand its influence in all directions. Even a remake of a Korean drama is popular, and an exhibition of Korean dramas is held in the midst of Corona 19 in offline, drawing great popularity from local fans. Meanwhile, Netflix also gave specific figures that Japanese subscribers' time to watch Korean dramas has increased more than six times compared to a year ago. Although Korea-Japan relations are still frozen, multinational OTT, Internet and SNS, which are not affected by bilateral relations, are playing a new role, strengthening the continuity of the third Korean Wave.

According to drama production companies Studio Dragon (253450) and CJ ENM (035760), Japanese terrestrial Nippon TV (NTV) has been broadcasting season 2 of "Voice 110 Emergency Command Room," a remake of "Voice" since the 10th. The film has continued to show positive performance, with its first episode rating reaching 11.3 percent. "Voice" is a genre that tells the story of 112 reporting center directors and other members who have invitation power struggling to secure golden time at crime scenes. It has also succeeded in settling into a seasonal drama by securing a stable fixed fan base in Korea, and its fourth season is currently airing.

Earlier this January, a Japanese version of the Korean drama "Familiar Wife (2018)" was aired on Japanese terrestrial Fuji TV. It was scheduled at 10 p.m. every Thursday, the prime time, and ended with a stable ratings of 7 to 8 percent (based on the Gwandong district). The reality and boredom of married couples' lives were melted into a fantasy theme called Time Slip, which received favorable reviews when it aired in Korea. In April, the drama "How" was sold to Fuji TV and aired late at night.

As such, the popularity of Korean dramas in Japan is still on the rise. Japan's terrestrial TV Tokyo reported on the 13th that Netflix's Japanese users watched Korean dramas last year more than six times more than the previous year. Starting with "Crash Landing on You," dramas such as "Itaewon Class," "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," and "Vinsenzo" became popular in Japan.

Regarding the popularity of Korean dramas, TV Tokyo said, "Differentiated 'specific video expression' is the secret." "It is a natural result to realize the imagination as a video because the story is diversified and there are many stories beyond our imagination." The drama "Vinsenzo," which aired earlier this year, showed an example of a scene set in Italy using synthetic technology instead of going there.

Due to this popularity, "Studio Dragon Hallyu Drama Exhibition," an offline exhibition, has also been held in Tokyo since the 10th. The exhibition, jointly organized by Asahi TV, Japan's private broadcasting station, has three drama experience centers: "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?" starring Park Seo-joon and Park Min-young, "Start Up" by Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk, and "Vinsenzo" by Song Joong-ki and Jeon Yeo-bin. The exhibition features photos and videos, as well as photo zones, reproduced sets, props and costumes.

The popularity of the drama "Crash Landing on You" which has set the stage for the third Korean Wave in Japan, has also been in progress for a year and a half since it ended. Since the drama was aired on Netflix, the main actor Hyun Bin has become a cover model for a leading weekly magazine and has become so popular that a special planning article has been released in the leading media. According to Studio Dragon, NHK, a Japanese public broadcaster, is preparing a documentary on the background of "Crash Landing on You" gaining popularity locally, the impact and reasons of the drama, in October this year. It is known that interviews including major actors, production staff and critics are included.

The painting that was also in Son Ye-jin and Cho Yoon-hee's house...80 million won at the end of the competition.

The work of Woo Kuk-won became the most competitive work at K-Auction auction in July after June.

KAuction said on the 23rd that Woo Guk-won's painting "Dinner" was sold at 80 million won, eight times the starting price of 10 million won, at a major auction.

At the major auction of K-Auction last month, Woo Guk-won's painting "Satisfaction" was sold for 40 million won, five times the starting price of 8 million won.

Woo Guk-won's work was hung in the living room when Son Ye-jin unveiled her house on a TV entertainment program in 2018. Son Ye-jin's painting is "Conversation Got Boring," a 2013 work. When Cho Yoon-hee appeared on a TV entertainment program and revealed her house, Woo Kuk-won's work was hanging in the living room.

Meanwhile, the highest-priced work at the K-Auction was sold for 1.6 billion won with Alexander Calder's mobile work "Boomerangs and Targets," which was first submitted in Korea.

Donald Judd's work "Untitled" was sold for 700 million won and Mel Bockner's work "Chuckle," a leading American conceptual artist, was sold for 250 million won.

Monochromatic painting was still popular. Lee Woo-hwan's work, which topped the auction in the first half of the year, was submitted with six pieces, all of which were submitted. Five of Park Seo-bo's tricks were also submitted, and five of six of Kim Chang-yeol's works found a new owner.

Articles are being written now in kmedia on Son Ye Jin's latest Valentino Romano Palazzo campaign. Here's one of them:

Son Ye-jin, elegance that cannot be hidden... Valentino perfect digestion

spacer.png

Following the selection of actress Son Ye-jin as a global advertising model from Italian luxury brand Valentino, the 2021 fall 'Roman Palazzo' season advertising campaign was newly released.

In the advertising campaign, Son Ye-jin reinterprets the Maison's iconic code for contemporary romanticism and sensual charm in her own way, wearing a ready-to-wear and a Supervee top handle bag from the Roman Palazzo Collection. In particular, the Superveee top handle bag released this season emphasizes the V-logo, which symbolizes Valentino, with bold antique brass material, creating a modern and more elegant feeling.

Valentino's 'DI.VAs', launched last season by Pierpaolo Piccioli, is a campaign about acknowledging and embracing diverse personalities, expressing oneself through constant exploration, and acknowledging diversity in a sense of belonging. Pursuing different values through the convergence of different voices and different views. This advertising campaign becomes the inspiration and words of Maison Valentino, and Son Ye-jin, who appears in the Divas campaign, is Valentino's muse and face.

The FALL 21 season Roman Palazzo collection introduced by Maison Valentino's diva, Son Ye-jin, and the new Supervee Top Handle Bag will be available at stores nationwide from July.

I think there 2 types/methods in kdrama, the first, the shooting for that drama is still going on while it's airing, and the second, the drama will be airing when the filming of drama has the end.

Idk, what kind will the method be chosen for 39 ?

I saw a post I don't know the credibility but I think people are assuming it airs in February. I thought it might air in January before. Regardless it is during the first half of next year. So i think regardless, the drama should be done filming before the air date or it might overlap a bit. As long as filming goes well with no delays.

Hospital Playlist S2 experienced filming delays which is why the drama is still filming. Other cast besides Jeon Mi Do are attached to other projects or currently filming other projects too besides HP S2.

Since it's August now, we should get script reading update - more casting updates soon. Hopefully it's not like other kdramas currently filming where there was no official update or official confirmation of all actors and the drama began filming lol. I think with JTBC, they will announce full cast like they did with ex. Park Min Young drama in June. The update included full details of cast and that script reading happened/start filming soon.

Earlier articles indicated that the 39 film shoot would take five (5) months, which about the length for a 16 episode series. 39 is scheduled to be 12 episodes. I thought the production company had built in several weeks against COVID shutdowns or restrictions. The series was originally announced to have a 2021 start date, but putting it back to 2022 makes me think this show will be fully pre-produced before airing.

South Korea just announced that it will allow 18+ adults to get vaccinated starting August 26, 2021. SK had stalled with the 55+ vaccinations with drug shortages. In July, it was supposed to open up to 50+ citizens, but the current wave of infections has pushed the government now to try to vax as many people as possible. Unless filming is pushed back, the cast and crew will probably not be fully vaccinated until late September with the two dose protocol.

I do wonder if 39 will be more like a companion piece to SITR; the exploration of career women at a cultural crossroad in their lives (i.e. pressure to marry, have kids and quit work).

@welh11 some in that age group especially Son Ye Jin's age group have already been vaccinated or more of them are getting vaccinated now. It's a matter if they had their 2nd vaccine shot yet depending on what vaccine they got. Lee Byung Hun and Siwan got Jassen shot (one shot) before they left for Cannes last month. Siwan updated his instagram in June in regards to that. Gong Hyo Jin posted on instagram story of her mom getting vaccinated a couple months ago.

Thirty Nine's description that was posted online:

Korean superstar Son Ye-jin gets personal

The award-winning actress, also a fashion and beauty icon, is a hard-working and simple lady in real life. PHOTOS COURTESY OF SMART The award-winning actress, also a fashion and beauty icon, is a hard-working and simple lady in real life. PHOTOS COURTESY OF SMART

Korean actress Son Ye-jin - of the global smash hit series 'Crash Landing On You (CLOY)' - maybe one of the most recognizable stars nowadays. However, this world-famous celebrity, as it turns out, still feels like any ordinary person.

Perfect as she is on the outside, especially in the eyes of her fans, Son admitted at the Smart Hallyu Hangouts that she has her own insecurities.

For one, when asked for her beauty secrets, the actress said, 'I'm not innately born with good skin, so I actually put in a lot of effort [to have] good skin.'

And contrary to what people might think of her fashion sense - thanks to her socialite character Yoon Se-ri in CLOY - Son likes to keep it simple in this department.

'I'm really more casual in real life; I like to keep it feminine. I like dresses, but I also like wearing T-shirts and shorts. My favorite outfit is actually a white shirt and jeans.'

Interestingly, she also revealed she avoids seeing her previous works, 'I get very embarrassed and awkward and immediately flip the channel.'

But perhaps, the most surprising statement from the humble actress was her reaction to the suggestion, '[She is] the best actress in Korea.'

'No. A little. Yes, maybe,' the actress shyly said in her native language.

However, for her lack of air in owning the labels the industry and her fans have given her - 'Best Actress,' 'Most Beautiful,' 'Most Fashionable' - the global endorser for Smart network was confident in sharing her strong work ethic.

Those who have followed Son's career since the early 2000s would see her acting in English, Chinese and Japanese.

Son clarified, 'I don't actually speak them, but I practice very hard to get the pronunciation correct. I've been trying to learn English for 15 years now. But then once I start working on a project and I don't get to use the language anymore, I'll forget, so I feel like, for 15 years, I've kind of been in the same spot.'

How then did she manage to perfectly deliver her line in English for communication giant Smart's TVC? The answer is hard work.

'For this Smart commercial, I really wanted to get it right, so I practiced very hard and made sure that I did the English dubbing myself,' she revealed, adding that she used the same dedication to pronounce her Filipino lines just as smoothly.

Beyond the language, an admirable trait of Son is her ability to cry on cue. She shared she was able to do this by putting real emotions in make-believe scenes.

'I really attribute this to perhaps a deep sense of empathy for the character. When I see someone who is sad, I also feel sad. It helps me act out this sorrow.'

It hadn't been this way early on in her career but taking on varied roles helped Son develop her acting method.

'In the beginning, it was really just a matter of following what was in the script, what the character was. But eventually, as I ventured into different genres and roles, I started to feel like I don't want them to feel like I am acting out a character - I want to speak as this person.'

She added, 'And so to act from that depth, it is very difficult for me to do that. But of course, I enjoy this work so much.'

Eventually, all her sacrifices paid off with a career that spans way beyond Korea and Asia. The Philippines - a Hallyu-loving country - is no stranger when it comes to Son.

Fan clubs have been set up to support Son and her CLOY leading man Hyun Bin and the team up they've taken from reel to real. And so, when Smart set up Hallyu Hangouts for Son, her legions of fans eagerly awaited, content with seeing their favorite actress even through a small screen for now.

Knowing the effect she has on her fans, Son ended her virtual meet with an encouraging message for all of them.

'Our language and culture are different, but despite this, I can feel all the love. It's almost like I don't know if I deserve this overwhelming love. I am thankful, moved, and motivated because when I hear how I've helped get you through difficult times, it makes me want to work on the next project.'

Actors Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mi-do and Kim Ji-hyun meet as three friends who live thirty-nine.

Real-life human romance, which deals with the friendship, love and life of three friends just around the corner, is raising expectations with the perfect combination of Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Ji-hyun in JTBC's new drama "30, 9" (written by Yoo Young Ah/director Kim Sang-ho/produced by JTBC Studio and Lotte Culture Works).

Thirty-nine' tells the ordinary, unfaithful daily life of a 39-year-old friend who looks at forty together in a friend of the same age that we met one day in the second year of high school by chance. The girls, who have made a precious connection at an unexpected moment, face the unexpected again one day and live a more heart-warming day of thirty-years-old than ever before. I wonder what fate will be waiting for them in the first half of 2022 when the three women's turbulent 39-year-old story will be filled beautifully and heartily.

First, Son Ye-jin plays Cha Mi-jo, the head of the Gangnam Dermatology Department. It expresses a 39-year-old woman who is warm and sometimes smells of cool water as a person who grew up well between a caring father, a generous mother, and a good-natured sister. I can't wait to see how Son Ye-jin, who is loved and trusted by the public for her deep acting, will complete the character Cha Mi-jo once again.

Jeon Mi-do, who will show another 39-year-old life with Son Ye-jin, will play Chung Chan-young, an acting teacher. A character who ran with a dream of becoming an actor, but became an acting teacher because it didn't go as well as her heart. It is not hateful to spit out spiteful words because they are always filled with sincerity. Attention is also focusing on Jeon Mi-do's transformation to write a new life character through Jung Chan-young's character.

Lastly, Kim Ji-hyun plays Jang Joo-hee, a department store cosmetic manager. Jang Joo-hee has a timid personality and has never had a proper relationship until she looked 40. There is a time for everything, but at the end of my 30s, attention is drawn to whether it is okay to expect good things now or Jang Joo-hee character that Kim Ji-hyun will play.

Like this, "30, 9" is drawing keen attention as a meeting of three actors who have performed unique roles in dramas, movies, plays and musicals, including Son Ye-jin (played by Cha Mi-jo), Jeon Mi-do (played by Jung Chan-young), and Kim Ji-hyun (played by Jang Joo-hee).

In particular, the fantastic lineup of three friends, which ended with Son Ye-jin, who wrote a new record of K-drama, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Ji-hyun, a trusted and watched actor in the musical world, raises expectations for chemistry as well as the acting synergy they will create. In addition, Yoo Young, the writer of "Encounter" and Kim Sang-ho, the director of "Run On," are adding to the harmony of emotions and empathy of viewers, which foretells the birth of a real-life human romance drama .

Meanwhile, JTBC's new drama "30, 9" is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2022.

Part of article since Son Ye Jin loves to golf:

Son Yejin's dress is 460,000 won? It's okay! I can save you.Ooh.

SSI_20210803210539_O2.jpgActor Son Ye-jin and golf leader Lim Jin-han, who appeared on YouTube's golf channel "Imjin Class."

"I was thinking of buying a dress, but it's already sold out. I should at least go to the store."

The golf dress worn by actor Son Ye-jin, who recently appeared on the famous YouTube golf channel "Imjin Class," drew attention online. The price of the white diagonal flare sleeveless dress he wore in the trailer was close to 460,000 won, but the dress was sold out at the online shop even before the original version was released. Online golf club cafes and other women in their 20s and 40s asked questions such as "Where is the product," "Where is the offline store," and "When is the restocking?"

Amid the unprecedented boom in the domestic golf industry, the golf apparel market is heating up ahead of the peak golf season in September. It is no exaggeration to say that the golf sector, which was considered the exclusive property of middle-aged men, is pouring extra money with a large number of women and young people. In fact, golf-related industries continued to grow even during the off-season of golf (mid-July and mid-August). According to Lotte Department Store on the 3rd, sales of golf apparel in July increased by 25% from the same period last year, with Incheon Terminal's growth rate reaching 61%. Shinsegae Department Store also saw its sales rise 40.4% and Hyundai Department Store 24.5% during the same period.

According to the Korea Leisure Industry Research Institute, the number of golf players in Korea stood at 5.15 million last year, which is about 10% of the total population in Korea. In other words, one out of every 10 Koreans plays golf. In particular, people in their 20s and 40s began to play golf as it became difficult to travel abroad due to the recent aftermath of coronavirus 19. According to a survey conducted by the Golf Zone last year, 65 percent of those who started playing golf less than three years ago were 2040.

Industry officials said, "If the existing middle-aged people invested a lot in equipment such as golf clubs, young golfers in their 20s and 40s are interested in fashion such as golf wear." In other words, the young golf population, who is in their 20s and 40s, is changing the golf market, which was the exclusive property of the middle-aged.

I get to know Jang Joo-hee (played by Kim Ji-hyun), a regular in my neighborhood, and my friends at a small store set up by my hands, and I feel small happiness when I spend time with them. Attention is drawn to what changes will be made in Park Hyun-joon's daily life and the character Park Hyun-joon, played by Lee Tae-hwan.
