I found that electronics are a bit more expensive in Korea.

But others may have had better experiences buying stuff than I have.

About your notebook, you should be able to get internet access over here, but it won't be easy. When I first got here, I was staying with my grandma and I couldn't get any signal.

When i started staying with my aunt (same city, just different location) I was able to get internet access but only in certain areas.

By the way, this is assuming you use wireless lan (linksys)

Yeah, wifi will work. But they share a common wireless frequency range.

Wifi cards in USA, uses channels 1-11, depending on the country I think Japan goes up to channel 1-14. A lot of notebooks will let you set the region under the wireless settings but even under the default USA settings at most you will loose a few wireless potential connections.
