Lee Byunghun to star in internet series

Lee, alongside co-stars Han Chae-young and Kim Tae-woo, will team up with veteran director Lee Jae-kyu for the upcoming film. Lee Jae-kyu has previously helmed the popular television series "Da Mo," and "Beethoven Virus."

The series will be split into three 60-minute segments that will jump forwards and backwards in time over the span of 100 years from 1907 to 2007. Not much is known about the plot but according to the film's production company, the films will focus on themes which deal with the difficut choices people who are at a crossroads make in life and about characters trying to fulfill promises. The film will be penned by "Beethoven Virus" scribe Hong Jin-aah and will premiere online early March.

Hallyu star Lee Byung-hun is set to star in an online mystery film titled "The Influence", according to a press release by the film's producer Realize Pictures on Wednesday. Lee, 39, will play one of the main characters who has to make a choice on his path to fulfilling a promise made many years ago in the film set for release online in early March.

Lee Jae-kyu, who has created several hit TV series including "Damo" and "Beethoven Virus," will be making his directorial debut with "Influence." He will team with screenwriter Hong Jin-ah of "Beethoven" again for the three-part movie based on a time period covering 1907 to 2010.

Lee Byung-hun is considered one of Korea's top actors who has starred in numerous Korean dramas and films, including the recent blockbuster TV series "IRIS" for which he won the award for best actor at the 2009 KBS Acting Awards. He also debuted in Hollywood last year with a supporting role in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" alongside Channing Tatum and Sienna Miller and starred in action thriller "I Come with the Rain" alongside Josh Hartnett and Takuya Kimura.

Korean actress Han Chae-young is set to join the cast of online mystery movie "The Influence", announced the film's producer Realize Pictures in a press release on Thursday.

Han will play the love interest of Hallyu star Lee Byung-hun who share a love that transcends time and space but eventually fail to see a happy ending. Lee will be one of the main characters who will have to make a choice on his path to fulfilling a long-kept promise in the film spanning from 1907 to 2010.

I'm not familiar with actor Jun No Min yet, he has an impressive tv list though.. but Cho Jae Hyun (superbly fabulous thespian!) acted with LBH in Happy Together and Kim Tae Woo was his co-star in JSA. In this movie they might not act with each other as there'll be (different) short stories instead.. I think.. but hopefully connected to one another.

Hi Ella, very good to see you here.. hope more will join the thread. Yeah.. The Influence will actually be BH's first (movie) project for 2010 before the one with Dir. KJW starts. Some of the Korean updates even mentioned that the filming had already wrapped up after 11 days or something like that but can't find the confirmation yet.

Anyway.. it'll definitely be a great feature to anticipate.. despite the new concept being a 'digital online movie' from the usual movies we're used to. The actors are indeed awesome names in the acting industry.. plus the star PD who directed 'Damo'.. it's your fave drama, right? :blush:

Thanks semi-fly for the highlight of 'Three Times', had heard about movie before but not in any detail. For 'The Influence' I think it's a continuous story between W and J in the 100-year relationship spanning 3 separate stories (making the 3 episodes) between them. The time travel factor could be the key to the story but I have no idea how it'll be told.. everything for now is just so mysterious.. like how this movie came about.. .. as we really don't have much info yet.

I am the Master Blender in the 3-part series starring Lee Byung Hun. Screening next month somewhere... Met the star when his car got stuck in the snow en route to the studio. We were on a single track country lane coming the opposite direction and had to get out to help him push his car out of the snow so we could get to the studio. After this accidental encounter I felt emboldened and familiar enough to ask for a photo together...

Do we have a particular time frame as to when the story is supposed to unfold?

This picture gives a Victorian era (1837 - 1901), Korea didn't really go through that period (well may be late in the Josen period - to the Korean Empire period (1897 - 1910) before Japanese occupation in 1910, but the dress (both literally and figuratively) looks off.

From the English articles (posted at post #1) and various Korean updates, the time frame for 'The Influence' have been mentioned quite clearly.

Poster for Lee Byung-hun's online pic "Influence" revealed

Movie poster for "Influence" [Realize Pictures]

The poster and preview for the online mystery film "Influence," starring Lee Byung-hun and Han Chae-young, have been revealed.

The film's producer Realize Pictures and Windsor Entertainment released the poster on Friday, showing a relatively large image of a suited up Lee from the bust upward and smaller head-to-toe image of Han donning a red dress.

Lee plays the role of the character W who has to make a choice in order to follow his path to fulfill a promise he made many years ago. Han will play J, W's lover who is stuck in an aquarium. The two share a love that transcends time and space.

The film, based on a time period spanning from 1907 to 2010, will be Lee Jae-kyu's directorial debut pic. He has created several hit TV series during his career including "Damo" and "Beethoven Virus."

"Influence" is set for release online in early March.
