Hairstyles worn by predominantly Asians on People Who Aren't Asians...?

What's your input? (Mostly Male Hairstyles.)
*** Some people said calling it an asian hairstyle was offensive/wrong/etc. So..i'll call it something different. Also, this is mostly for guy hairstyles. ***

Ok, i've searched for a thread like this and haven't found one.. so hopefully i didn't miss it, because i'm making one now.

But what do you think of people who aren't asian, getting those 'styles of hair worn most usually by korean pop stars/actors and japanese singers/actors'? (You know what i mean, but if you don't, like the messy spikey kpop singers style hair.) Do you think it looks good, can they pull it off?

And what about those who ARE asian, but like mixed. So they have more white features. Does it make a difference? Can they pull it off? What does it take really to pull off "styles of hair worn most usually by korean pop stars/actors and japanese singers/actors" anyway?

And when you go to get one of those haircuts.. how do you explain how you want it cut? lol Is it hard to find barbershops or hairstylists that can actually do them?

Sorry, so many questions, but i'm wondering. <img src="http://cdn.vanillaforums.com/soompi.vanillaforums.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

FOR EXAMPLES ON THE HAIRSTYLES IM TALKING ABOUT:

i thought that was kind of classified under emo/punk.

i guess to describe it to a barber would to have it longer in the front than the back. like a reverse mullet?

someone saying they want a reverse mullet seems highly unattractive..... lol, but i get what you're saying.

And i guess some of them might look emo/punk... but others are.. you know. a little different.

I'm half asian.. half portuguese

I cant pull it off

I cant pull off even circle lenses, makes me look like a vampire

I think pure asians have softer features that makes their styles look really good on them

and no matter how hard i try I cant pull it off :(

when i first saw that long shaggy haircut like Zac Effron had at one point..I thought..woah FOB hair..but on him it just looks a bit messy but OK..personally, I don't like it on Asians or Non-Asians alike but I guess since their hair naturally has more of a color pattern(?) you see the difference in texture so it doesn't look as dull. as for the mullet and long spiky Kpop style hair..eh it doesn't do it for me..it doesn't look appealing no matter who it's on.

lmao. i've seen them around.

they're usually little white kids that hang around an asian group.

-shrugs- i can't say "it's bad" just because i don't see a lot of it. but ... i guess it does give me a little not-sure-if-laughable moment of the day.

I find this pretty offensive...

There is no such thing as an "Asian" hairstyle. Hair is hair. There are different types of styles, but that would be calling hair a "White" hairstyle or a "Mexican" hairstyle.

It doesn't depend on race to pull something off, it depends on their facial structure.

Most often than not, certain races come with certain facial features. And by Asian hairstyle, i meant the ones you see a lot of the Korean/Japanese/Chinese etc. having. And i do agree with your point of view that hair is hair and how it's styled cannot be claimed by a nationality. Sorry if it offended you.

I'm half korean but I can't pull off "asian" hairstyles.... I just keep it straightened. Or get highlights occasionally.

Im sorry if I also offended anyone but its also a fact that there are distinct features in races like most african americans have tanner skin and most europeans have white skin.

Asians have beautiful soft features.

I am half-raced and find it hard to find a style suited for me

I honestly think that it's the same hair style on different hair texture. I've seen "Asian" hairstyles forever on other ethnics.

emos' style are originally a mix of goth and punk, but have more recently started incorporating the 'East-Asian' Japanese Anime like styles too. A lot of them watches animes.

i don't like fob hair period. esp on guys, makes them look feminine. but looking androgynous is like a big trend in asia right?

all i know is that my friends laugh at white people who have fob hairstyles, coz it either looks like theyre 'eggs' or poser emo/punk

i woudnt call it asian hair, seeing that it may have offended some people in terms of hair as a racist comment.. i'll refer it to fob hair.

yes and no, some people can pull it off, others cant. ive seen some non-asian people pull it off so well, and some asians just look bad with a certain hairstyle but it depends on face shape, not just culture..

--sorry for big photos

and also for writing in a point of view as thinking long hair with stylish side bangs .. and not the other types of hairstyles such as the short hairsyles, curly, teased etc...

i mean.. leah dizon is half asian and she just makes everything look stylish and beautiful!

jp_100_1.jpg

where as ashley tisdale, i was amazed and actually jealous that she had such a nice hairstyle back in her 'suite life' says..

ashley-tisdale-picture-2.jpg

is a certain type of hairstyle known as scene, street or ganji??? i get confused, since i hear a lot of different types of hairstyles and fashion..

Haha, I was going to mention this, since that's basically me. ;)

I actually got scissor-happy again tonight, so I sort of ended up with an "asian mullet" again. I think I pull it off alright, or at least I think that way since I like edgy haircuts. :P But it only looks good if I straighten my hair. I got wavy hair from my dad's side, and it naturally looks like a lion's mane :X

Hairstyle suits people based on their facial features, face shape, etc. not ethnicity alone. It's just how their ethnic background affects their face that makes certain hair associated with certain races :D

so i would say the hairstyle that suits you really depends on your face, regardless of how Asian it looks.

>,> Why write "Asian" "White" and then "Mexican"?...since you're listing races, I don't know why you threw in "Mexican"... Mexico does not = Latino/Hispanic, if that's what you meant to say. Sorry, that just irked me. It's kind of like the whole Chinese = Asian -.-

And, to the OP.. mmm, I don't know. I guess it depends on your face shape, features, etc. I guess like someone else stated, it'd be classified more as an "emo" hairstyle. :P TBH, I won't "think" anything when I see someone with an "Asian" hairstyle, I just find it to look better on Asians... but that shouldn't stop you from getting a certain haircut. *shrug*
