iVO Sound mp3

please help explain why

For Christmas this year, my brother bought me and my younger brothers an iVO-Sound m260 mp3. It says to charge 8-12 hours before first used and not to charge it for 24 hours. We left it charge for the rest of the day. The problem is that the mp3 won't work. So I've been charging the mp3 for about almost a week now and it still won't charge. I'm not sure if its me or the mp3. Should I just throw it out and go get another one?

Yes, if I plugged in it I can tun it on but if I don't it says that the battery is low.

Thats kind of depressing, can you try to get a replacement? It sounds like it works but that battery definitely sounds defective.

Sadly no because I threw the boxes away and I think the receipt was thrown away too.
