***The historical drama The Moon Embracing the Sun was the most-watched show of the year and received extremely high viewer ratings. Although Han Ga In admitted she’d been worried about acting opposite Kim Soo Hyun in the drama.

During her appearance on Radio Star, the cast couldn’t help talking about the drama. Han Ga In admitted her age difference with Kim Soo Hyun was one of the things that made her hesitant about the role.

I was so worried about working with him. ‘I’m way older than Kim Soo Hyun.’ He’s six or seven years younger than me.

— Han Ga In

Viewers adored the romance between their characters and still watch it today.   :wut:

*** Ahn Jinyoung, a reporter for Munhwa Ilbo and a Youtuber, revealed the appearance fees of top actors on his Youtube some days ago. First, the reporter revealed that Song Joongki, Lee Jongsuk, Ji Changwook, Kim Soohyun, and Lee Minho were actors who opened the way for a Korean actor to be able to get paid around KRW 300 million (around USD 244,000) per episode for drama on terrestrial channels. In other words, they receive approximately KRW 4.8 billion (almost USD 4 million) in appearance fees for a 16-episode drama. In the case of Kim Soohyun and Lee Minho, who have high popularity overseas, receive incentives on top of their appearance fees, per the reporter's words. He added that actresses still tend to earn less than actors. Jeon Jihyun and Song Hyekyo were said to receive the highest appearance fee among actresses, which is said to be KRW 200 million (around USD 163,000) per episode. As for actors who appeared on OTT, which is known to pay more, Lee Jungjae is said to be the star with the highest appearance fee. "In October last year, it was reported that the amount Lee Jung Jae got paid for one episode had risen to KRW 1 billion (USD

813,000).   :surprisedwut:

From Start-Up to Goblin: Here's a list of 25 Best Romantic Korean Dramas of All Time

Best romantic Korean dramas to binge watch this year

While romance has always been a popular genre when it came to TV shows, people’s love for romantic dramas reached another level when the Hallyu wave acquainted them with Korean romantic dramas. Korean dramas are loved and admired by the world for their directorial and visual finesse. K-dramas cover a wide range of shows but their romantic ones have a separate fan base.

Goblin’, ‘Descendants of The Sun’, ‘W: Two Worlds’, ‘Pinocchio’, ‘Crash Landing On You’ are some of the many Korean romantic dramas that were able to amass a massive viewership during the course of their broadcast. Their receptive popularity however was not limited to the time of their airing but in fact, went beyond that. These shows are shared favorites for a huge portion of K-drama fans.

The rising popularity of Korean dramas can be attributed to a myriad of various factors besides their production merit.

K-dramas are accessible. They can be enjoyed via a variety of streaming platforms and have subtitles. When it comes to watching shows, subtitles facilitate the broadening of a horizon. Subtitles prevent language from becoming a barrier between any one who appreciates or is looking to explore any artform in a foreign language.
