These 3 Fairytale Books In "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" Are Now Up For Grabs!

these-3-fairytale-books-in-its-okay-to-n

Who would have thought a book from a Korean drama would be up for production and can be purchased for viewers? This is one reason why "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" is soaring to the top of the trends.

Thanks to Netflix, the hit Korean drama can be streamed worldwide and its story reaches many young at hearts. Starring Seo Ye Ji as a celebrity writer of children's books created meaningful stories, illustrated with few grotesque images. In character as Go Moon Young, she became famous and sold hundreds of books all over the world.

But behind her beautiful face and lucrative career is her bitter life with her family, and how she grew up lacking empathy and cold-hearted.

In the drama, Moon Gang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun) is a guardian at a psychiatric hospital. Along with his mentally disabled brother, he became a source of companionship towards healing and getting to know more of her unresolved past.

The way she writes books comes from her life experiences and growing up as a child. Her stories depict most of her well-kept emotions.

The tales of each book have a deeper meaning and relate to a child's issue to his mother and how a person relates to his surroundings. And whether you're a bookworm or simply want to probe into Go Moon Young's innermost feelings, here are the three books mentioned in the series.

The Teenage Boy Who Grew Up Eating Nightmares

Spoiler

This book is about a young boy who suffered from severe nightmares. He searched for help and found a witch who took out the night terrors from him. Though the witch granted his requests, he had promised that he would do anything in exchange for it. As years passed by, the boy became an adult, yet he began to feel empty and not happy though there are no more nightmares during his sleep.

One day, the witch came back. He asked her why he didn't feel any joy within. The witch answered one will learn and discover more about life when you experience troubles and overcome it. Happiness is not all about the good things you see and forget the pain that comes. But how you fight your own battles in life and become a stronger person.

The Zombie Child

The story is about a mom who gave birth to a child with an ugly face, different from humans. In her quest to protect her child from the village people, she hides him in the basement. She feels that the child only cares for food and doesn't have any emotions.

Each night, she goes out to steal pig and chicken to feed him. One day, a pandemic hit the village, and all the people left to survive and look for a shelter somewhere else. The mother could not leave her child alone, nothing to feed, so she cuts her arm and legs for him.

Until such time that she can only give her torso and embrace the child to eat her up to survive. But as the child tasted her, the child spoke up for the first time, "Mother is so warm."

A Spring Day's Dog

The story is about a dog tied up near a shade tree. During springtime, he always shows a cheerful and vibrant act towards the villagers. He is good at hiding his feelings as at nightfall, he would end up whining and wish to run and play in the field. But a voice within him says, why not cut the leash and go out and enjoy the way he likes? The dog then realized he doesn't know how to escape since he has been used to being tied up and not knowing what to do.

Anyone immersed in the drama and wishes to get a hard copy of the books can purchase them online. It's available on Yes24 and Gyobo Books for around KRW 10,800 (USD 9).

A Fan Made A Meme Of The Characters From “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” And It’s Hilariously Accurate

Netflix‘s hit K-Drama, It’s Okay Not to Be Okay sure is making waves! From fashion pieces to books, the drama’s reach is all-encompassing. A Korean fan on Twitter, @dazzle_ed, recently made ingenious memes to show the changes the characters have gone through, now that we are at the halfway mark of the entire show. These memes show the characters’ first impressions vs. their current impressions.

Moon Kang Tae’s character has gone from an innocent puppy to a more assertive fox, while Ko Moon Young is the exact opposite, going from fits of obsessiveness to being a big ol’ softie. Sang Tae oppa is showing his true self, becoming very blunt and curt with his expressions, so fans liken him to a pumpkin. Danho-bak in Korean is used to refer to someone who is blunt, but it also means “pumpkin”. Nurse Nam Ju Ri is also developing more of a fiercer side as she begins to learn that it is not all bad to show her true emotions.

On the other hand, for the side characters, we have Moon Young’s publisher going from a brash “I’ll do it all for you!” type of guy, to a more mellowed one yearning for his crush to like him back. His assistant also has begun to show more commitment to her job, despite still complaining about it half-heartedly. The Moon brothers’ best friend, has started to be more clingy, while Ju Ri’s mom is also showing more of her motherly force rather than simply doting on the younger generation.

On the other hand, another meme from the drama has been making rounds on Twitter by international fans. International fans from various fandoms have hilariously inserted their biases into clips interspersed with the scene where Ko Moon Young screams her love for Kang Tae at him.

Do you agree with these memes? As the drama progresses, we can learn from the character development as displayed by the actors. It seems as if they are changing each other, be it for the better or the worse. Tune in to the show every weekend at 10pm KST on Netflix to get your weekly fix!

Watch: Kim Soo Hyun And Seo Ye Ji Enjoy Taking Pictures Together On Set Of “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay”

tvN’s “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” has released a new behind-the-scenes video!

“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” is about the strange romance between Moon Kang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun), a community health worker at a psychiatric ward, and Go Moon Young (Seo Ye Ji), a children’s storybook writer with antisocial personality disorder.

The clip starts off with Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji filming the scene on a bridge with the director calling out pointers from afar.

The two actors proceed to shoot a scene where Go Moon Young takes Moon Kang Tae’s picture. As Kim Soo Hyun gets in the frame, Seo Ye Ji remarks, “He completes the picture.”

The two take selfies together, and Seo Ye Ji makes Kim Soo Hyun laugh when she exclaims, “I looked weird in that one just now!” Her remark distracts Kim Soo Hyun, who continues to laugh and ends up missing the timing for his lines.

Kim Soo Hyun then shoots a scene in the hospital, where he acts like he’s in pain and asks one of the crew members, “Do I have to act like I’m about to die?”

In the next part of the video, Seo Ye Ji joins Kim Mi Kyung, Park Jin Joo, Kim Joo Heon, and Kang Ki Doong. Seo Ye Ji starts to eat happily on set.

Later, Park Jin Joo gets Kim Joo Heon and Kang Ki Doong to take turns saying the drama’s title together, and her co-stars are not enthused. Kang Ki Doong tells Park Jin Joo, “That wasn’t very good, right?” while Kim Joo Heon says, “This is embarrassing.” Park Jin Joo ends up laughing. She responds, “We have to show the viewers a fun time on set,” and begins to do a cute dance with Kang Ki Doong.

Next up is a scene between Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji. Seo Ye Ji messes up the order of her lines multiple times, and Kim Soo Hyun finds it funny. Seo Ye Ji asks, “Are you laughing?” and Kim Soo Hyun corrects her lines for her. He then says, “I couldn’t hold my laughter in.”

While acting, Kim Soo Hyun falls to the ground by himself and improvises some lines, saying, “How could you push me?” The cast and crew find it amusing and end the scene as Seo Ye Ji bursts into laughter.

Finally, the clip shows Kim Soo Hyun and Oh Jung Se filming an intense moment together. Oh Jung Se recites Moon Sang Tae’s angry lines and suddenly breaks character to ask, “Do I keep going?” Oh Jung Se continues to do an impressive job with his emotional scene, and Kim Soo Hyun gives the actor two thumbs up.
