for hijackthis you should post your results on a forum and get help on what shouldnt be there if you dont know what should and shouldnt be there.

Well this won't work really for everyone. Since hijack this scans the registry, and it gonna show a different list for each person...cause i'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say not everyone has the same programs and apps installed to their computers.

In hijackthis there is an option to print out the list after you scan, if you don't know what any of those processes mean, i suggest you print it out and take it to someone who knows what should and should not be there.

I just basic Ad-aware to locate malicious spyware on customer's computers and try to remove it using ad-aware. if that doesn't work i located it and remove it locally...but it can get fun cause some trojans like to copy themselves elsewhere and then reinstall it self even after you do system restore or delete the file...have to dig in the registry sometimes.

HI awdark!!!! i'll help u here...u really did hijack this place

heres a very nice way to remove viruses...i'm not sure it can do spy/ad ware

Killbox download

Using Kill Box to remove viruses with help of anti-virus software

1. Your antivirus program detected the virus but is unvailable to remove the virus infected file(s).

2.It may (or may not depending on your anti-virus software [McAfee does]) give you a path (example: C:\Windows\.......) **

3.Copy and paste that address into the killbox program in the space called "Full path or File to Delete"

4.press the "X" button and answer yes to the question.

5. restart

6.(optional) You can put in the Win XP Cd to repair damaged areas if any created by the virus(es)

i just tried it, but it says, "this file does not seem to exist." :fury: :tears:

Gahh >_<

I'm having problems with these two nuisances: rundl132.exe and svhost32.exe

I scanned them on hijackthis a couple of days ago, fixed them and also manually went on safemode to delete them -_-;;

The problem is...they keep coming back. I have no idea where I got them from or where I keep getting them from but ... everytime I run hijack this, they're there again.. >_<

I'm also beginning to think this has something to do with my Windows Live Messenger, which had been working fine but now it's not working anymore again. =_=;;; Everytime I open it, it freezes and I have to turn off the computer. I'm also having problems with NATEON (Korean messenger thingy)...whenever I click on it, it doesn't open. Nothing happens. Can someone help me? I really don't wanna reformat again...cause the last time I reformatted was a week ago. *sigh

System Restore

One of the many features that Microsoft included with Windows XP that is actually useful!

So, when you know you did something stupid or your computer did the stupid thing on its own, run system restore and restore to the most recent point.

Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools-> System Restore

Click restore my computer to an earlier point, hit next, choose the date, let the computer restart itself and eventually work again.

Note: System restore fixes .exe .dll and some other files that were changed between that point and now. Your pictures, documents, media are not restored or touched... so if its a fun spyware that screwed it up, it wont fix it.

Just wanted to thank you for starting this topic, and especially talkinga bout System Restore. You saved my computer!!

The best Anti-Spyware program is spyware doctor. It's basically what the geek squad uses for full spyware removals.

If all else fails for you guys, try this program. (in case someone hasn't recommended it yet. -.-')

Another good cleaner is Spy Sweeper and Search&Destroy.

Somebody help before I kill my computer!!

I ran virus/spyware check, then I deleted all of the ones I had like two days ago. But it's back and it's really making me angry.

I get all these popups (mostly advertisements). I also get popups saying that my computer's been affected with spyware and to press "run" to run a program to check my computer. When I exit that box out, it gives me another popup saying that I have a "x" amount of problems. IMO, its a scam because the information about IP address and location is wrong. The program's called WinAntiSpyware2006 and there's another called Drive Cleaner.

I googled both programs and they turned out to be malware.

I ran my virus/spyware check programs (I tried like 4 out) and they can't detect it.

What do I do?

I need help, please!!!

I might have accidentally installed an adware. I ran an .exe file and after that something kept popping up on my taskbar. Everytime I clicked, left & right, on it an ad for an antivirus software (called VirusBurst) keeps popping up.

adwareux5.jpg

They even spelt balloon wrongly. Sheesh!

I've tried System Restore, Lavasoft's Adaware & Spybot - Search & Destroy but it's still there. I do not know what else to do. It's really annoying as a bubble (shown above) keeps appearing every 5 minutes. I'm about to go bonkers!!!

If anybody has had the same problem and managed to solve it, I'd appreciate the help very much. Thanks in advance.

:crazy: Are you on dialup or something? :( Thats so sad.

Anyways I have basically only used adaware (which is taking a horribly long time to open) and Spybot Search and Destroy

Thanks awdark, I got your message also.

But no, I have comcast high-speed crap...maybe I have too much unused programs and that's what's making my comp load slowly???....or does that not matter?? O_O

O_O" I can't imagine how much stuff will be needed to be able to decrease the speed of downloads.

Most likely it was either a slow website or the cable internet was being cable internetie... where at times your internet can slow down if there are many other users using it as well. (like sharing your internet with many other computers at home, I download a lot my dad complains that pages aren't opening and my brother says google doesn't open :x )

Thank you so much for your help, aznfishyfart. Now I know what it's called.

I didn't really like the part on having to "repeat several times" so I did a search on it and I found quite a few methods but I tried this and it worked. Apparently it's the best method, but I found it kinda tedious. But it worked!

Question: How can I prevent this from happening again, or perhaps on other computers?
