NPB-XK Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I'm a little surprised combofix (google it) isn't on here. combofix is extremely simple but very powerful! So powerful that it has ruined many computers too... I wouldn't put it on the list for any kind of people. Combofix would be a last resort for a problem. And also gotta read the hijackthis log (helpful tool) to see if you REALLY need combofix as well. And also to make sure if you got no program that it would interfere with or mess with. People with cracked windows (even those who never even knew their windows are cracked) would have hard time after having the combofix kill the crack that allowed windows to get fooled. That's just the worst case... Other cases are that some of their programs have malfunctions. The windows will remain ok though. Just that the errors you can possibly get after combofix scan would be from some programs. The old school combofix used to eliminate some important "infected" (modified) registry entries without fixing it. Now up to date, nothing to worry about windows problems. Through experience, you can tell right away if someone immediately needs combofix or not.
Guest greeenkiwi Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Can someone PLEASE help me? I have this spyware/adware type thing that every time I google and I click on the results, it redirects me to another page that I did not intend to go to. It takes me about two tries until I can access the page I want to without being redirected. All the sites it directs me to is random.. but I notice there's usually this green globe icon next to the website link that loads. I've scanned with spybot and superantispyware, but it doesn't work. I'm really worried it's going to get into my personal accounts like bank, credit cards, etc? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Guest mineforkeeps. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 How do you get rid of email viruses?!? I went to check my email today and received a bunch of "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" messages. EDIT: I downloaded and ran SuperAntiSpyware and it found and got rid of a bunch of stuff, but does this need to be run in Safe Mode? or is it okay to log into things now?

Guest NotGuilty Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Can anyone help me with my virus (trojan?) problem? I recently got virus alerts for something called: Win32/TDSS!packed My antivirus software (provided by my university) is called eTrust...I think. It tells me I have this virus, but doesn't have any cure for it...I did a scan, and all it did was "rename" the infected file. I don't think that's working, because it renamed the same virus once before, and I got the same alert soon/a few days after. Please help..
Guest sweet.dreams Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I don't know what is wrong with my internet but every time when I try to search on google and click on a website link that I want, it doesn't go directly to that website but it goes on to this weird website that has no relation to the website I want to go to. Help anyone?!?!

Can someone please help? D: What happened is that the fake anti-virus program automatically installed into your computer without your permission and I had this problem before and I did follow the same instructions from the website, deleted this, deleted that, and I realized that it only helps to decrease the pop up messages, but doesn't help getting rid of the fake spyware What you need to do is: do the System Restore, pick the day that before you have this problem Hope this help Im not suure if this is the right thread to help me but .. i have AVG free, and i was looking around z-degrees.net and right after i got an AVG pop-saying ''Threat Detected" .. i scanned my computer but it didn't find anything .. does that mean its still there or did it remove it ? :\ I'm using the AVG free too Whenever you going into a website that has potentially virus, the AVG automatically detect it, and prevent the virus If you scanned it and found nothing, then you would be fine can malwarebytes be used for the whole thing? internet, firewall, and such? No, malwarebytes is anti-spyware software, so it only does anti-spyware The anti-virus software does all
NPB-XK Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Correction... Malwarebytes is an anti-malware to be more specific. It doesn't only focus on spywares. It goes killing around worms/spywares/virus/etc. The free version is not a protector. It's an exterminator. Which means, it's very useful after you already got infected. The paid version has protection (along with its exterminator ability). AVG (even free one) has strong protection if you browse around the internet. Even when you download files, it can detect them as threats if they are potentially bad. It prevents infections and it makes you eliminate them on the spot. I say, if you like to browse a lot around the internet, I recommend AVG because of its protection. But if you like to download so many files off so many random websites, Avast would be my recommendation for its quickness and accuracy (overall efficiency). Just don't have both AVG and Avast. Just pick one of them. Now. What AVG and Avast have been missing is the deep protection for the registry. And for that, the only free software that can handle that protection is Spybot S&D. This is because of its efficient real time protection (AKA resident teatimer). It will alarm you of any attempt of registry change whether it's modification, new keys or keys deletions. If you're installing a software you trust and it will make some changes in your registry, the teatimer will react and you will have to make it accept the change. But if you haven't done anything and haven't installed anything and all of a sudden the teatimer reacts, I'd suggest that you deny any change. It might be an attempt to attack the registry. You can combine AVG with Spybot. Or Avast with Spybot. But not AVG and Avast. Malwarebytes makes it a perfect trio because if you ever get infected, it will come as a rescuer to exterminate infections. It's very strong in extermination. I hope my information helps. I've been busy lately so if there's any help or question, I allow people to PM me. PS. Never forget to UPDATE your anti-virus / anti-malwares. There are over 200 new viruses being created every single day. My recommendation is at least you should be updating once a week. If more than a week, you'll have more percentage of vulnerability if you like to browse/download so much.
curiousitykills Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 i seriously need your help, it started last March 11.. when ALL my internet browsers keep on crashing as I open them after 1 or 2 minutes. I downloaded Norton AntiVirus which is the free one.. and Malwarebytes. the problem, I always get the pop up message of norton saying recen attempt to attack your computer.. blah blah everytime i search or i click.. it gets really annoying.. i mean it was like every second. any idea why did it turn out like this? :| many virus are attempting to attack my computer. *panic mode*
Guest CitrusFlower Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I've been getting one of those virus message telling me I have a threat on my computer and such, so I need to purchase this in order to remove it. I know it's a spyware and I've been downloading alot of spyware removal stuff but they don't help, some of them only scan without removing and some of the things I download won't complete the installation. I also get pop up to porn sites when I'm trying to scan and stuff. I try downloading malwarebytes but that won't even open.
NPB-XK Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 ALERT Watch out people when you open files that are unknown. If you realize your accounts have been hacked, it is most likely because of suspicious file you have opened (or because you share computer). It could be a trojan, yes... With passwords retriever and keylogging. But a lot of times, there's this something that could go UNDETECTED. You open a file and it basically sends informations to a web page in php where the hacker can have access to the private informations retrieved. Just from you opening that file, he can obtain a lot of your accounts usernames + passwords. Keep an eye opened, folks. iStealer latest versions are what noob hackers will use the most as their tool to create/generate their files in which they would send you or let them be "leaked" in public (by faking it for a file) or whatever. It can be camouflaged as any file types (it uses the 2 in 1 type of merging files, same as what we could do in cmd). You can look up for examples on YouTube. There has been a lot of innocent victims from such thing... Depending on how smart/experienced the hackers are, a lot of victims have their passwords stolen, and many may still not know it. The quiet ones would seek for ways to get money (if you use paypal or whatever like that, related to banking/money). Just opening the file (which is TOTALLY UNDETECTED by any anti-malwares, even when you SCAN the file), and ZAP! there go your passwords (+usernames) and a whole lot more informations. I couldn't find a trace explaining how the hackers got the victims passwords because their computers were clean... until I tracked completely everything down and yep, iStealer ladies and gentlemen. I caught the hackers. ***More scarier facts*** The very latest ones, from what I suspect, has the possibility to prevent you from deleting the suspicious file by giving an error once you've opened it. It would install some few other stuff that may trigger that file to open (by itself)... because you are allowed to open it, but not delete it. That's how the hackers may keep receiving new updates without having you opening the suspicious file all the time. It's kinda scheduled as a routine. To avoid this from happening, whenever you wanna open a suspicious file, MAKE SURE you cleared off all caches and NO PASSWORDS are saved on your computer (especially on any of your messengers). Scan the file and everything as well... Any file you download off some places that are not known to be secure will be considered suspicious. This includes torrents websites, rapidshares and anything like that. If anything, come see me, the expert. Thanks for your attention. NPB`XK
Guest Myss Blewm Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Okay, I'm kind of freaked out right now. =__= I was just wondering if there is anything I should/can do to see if I can prevent my computer from crashing and not working anymore. Just a few minutes ago, I had my Firefox, iTunes, and Paint open (LOL was Painting a photo). Right as I saved my photo on Paint my computer froze and it went to the blue screen saying my computer is crashing. So I freak out and pull the plug out. D= Didn't know what else to do. I plug it back in, and it seems to be okay. I just did a virus scan, and everything seems fine. I'm scared that my computer will do this again and sooner or later it'll crash completely and I'll have to take it in to get fixed or I have to go buy a new computer entirely. Oh yeah, I still have Windows Vista. So I was just wondering: Is there a possible explanation as to what happened? And what are steps I can take from having this happen to me again? T_T

T_T You shouldn't have unplugged your computer. Blue screen are there for a purpose; to give you a reason why your computer crashed Next time you get the BSOD, there will be an error code at the bottom, which you should memorize;writedown; picture.
