Filming 'Jealousy Incarnate,' actors fight with laughter

GOYANG, South Korea, Sept. 21 (Yonhap) -- The stars of the popular TV series "Jealousy Incarnate" said Wednesday they've been struggling to keep themselves from laughing during the many funny moments on the show.

The rom-com drama starring Gong Hyo-jin, Jo Jung-suk and Go Kyung-pyo has been climbing TV charts since its first broadcast on Aug. 24, with the latest episode recording a viewership of more than 10 percent.

It tells the story of a macho news anchor (Jo) who begins to develop feelings of jealousy in a love triangle with his secret admirer and weathercaster Pyo Na-ri (Gong), and his close friend and chaebol heir Go Jung-won (Go).

"I think I'm probably one of the top five actors who make the most mistakes from laughing during shoots," Gong said at a press conference held at an SBS TV station in Goyang, northwest of Seoul. "I'm holding it in order to act. There's a weird synergy that comes from acting in situations like that."

The 36-year-old explained that the facial expressions that come from concentrating harder sometimes fit the situation really well and probably appeal to the viewers, too.

One of the funniest scenes was when Jo had a double nose bleed inside an elevator, she said.

Jo, who recently acted a scene where he underwent a test for breast cancer, confessed to having similar problems with laughter, although he added that it has made filming all the more fun.

"I think we're a group of people who know exactly what a comedy should be like," he said.

The cancer screening itself was no laughing matter, though, as it "really hurt," according to the 36-year-old.

After watching the drama, one male viewer went to the hospital for a checkup and was diagnosed with the cancer that is rare in men.

"One has to be physically fit to battle a tough disease, but what's more important is mental strength," Jo said when asked to make some comments to the patient. "Keep in there and I hope the treatment goes well."

The actor asked viewers to stay tuned to see how badly jealousy ruins him and whether he succeeds in love.

Go said he, too, will likely be ruined by jealousy but in a different way from Jo.

"If such a situation were to happen in reality, I hate emotional exhaustion, so I think I'd make my friend give up," the 26-year-old said, drawing laughter in the room. "I'm someone who has to gain love, so I'd move quickly."

The 24-part series airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m. on SBS TV.

Go Kyung Pyo talked about his current drama 'Incarnation of Jealousy' as well as his co-stars with 'Elle' magazine.

 

When asked about the love triangle with Jo Jung Suk and Gong Hyo Jin's characters, Go Kyung Pyo responded, "It naturally happens when I look at Gong Hyo Jin sunbaenim." He continued on with praise, saying, "Hyo Jin sunbaenim's smile and eyes really make her partner's heart pound. I understand why people call her 'Gongvely'."

I’m also a huge fan of Gong Hyo Jin, watching every drama she makes and always looking forward for another one to come out. Jealousy Incarnate is another brilliant GHY romantic comedy drama and she never fails to amaze the audience with her funny antics and witty gestures that makes her very adorable and charming. Just like most of you, I also root for the loveteam of Go Kyung Pyo and GHY or Jung Won and Nari. Hyo Jin is very young looking for her age, and GKP is almost perfect for her that there are times I pray that they become a couple in reality. “Age doesn’t matter” right? Also, the writer is brave enough to let the second lead man shine in this drama and not just the main lead. On the other hand, Jo Jung Sook is also an intelligent actor as he is very talented and very funny. I can’t help laughing every time PNR and HS fight, especially in Episode 7 where HS was looking for the cellphone and each one would defend themselves in front of JW just like what kids do. The hand gesture of PNR where she wanted HS to stop as he was about to tell JW of his cancer,hahaha, EPIC. My favorite part was when JW kissed PNR with his expression as if he was really inlove with her for real(more kisses pls)JJJ and the measurement part, which was a very sexy scene. The whole cast is very enjoyable to watch and kudos to the writer for coming up with this kind of romcom drama. I hope that GHY and GKP win the Best Kiss Award, Best Actress, Best Actor(JJS or GKP) as well as the Best Couple Award (if there’s any) for PNR and JW in SBS. For now, we just have to wait and see where the drama leads us but I hope that the writer can give more time for the love of GHY and GKP to linger even for another 5 episodes. I also hope that the writer would hear the clamor of the majority to just let PNR and JW be happy together and that no matter what happens they will still love each other and not be swayed by negative situations that would come their way. Lastly, hope that the ratings will keep on soaring!!!!
