I understand Eugene because it's pronounced similarly to Yoo Jin, but I want to know the stories behind the others.

normally its bible names.

since christianity is getting pretty strong in SK,

most koreans end up choosing names from the bible.

but dont be surprised to see some normal ones too, people get it from their favorite ameican celebrities too. haha

I had a friend named Esther, and her brothers were named David and John.

Also, Jessica and Ashley. I know at least 3 Jessicas and 2 Ashleys.

I knew another Esther, and her brother's name was Moses...

They nearly always tend to be extremely generic, and usually biblical.

Jennifer, Grace, Eugene, Rachel, Stella, Michelle, Sarah, Esther, etc...

James, Paul, David, John, Brian, Joseph, Richard, etc...

In fact, I don't think I've ever met another Korean with a slightly unusual name. Except one, but his name was Jesus, and that's still biblical so moot point.
