crazynoona, I've tried before. I have to register before I can post and registration is only available to those who have a Ju Min Bon Ho (Korean Residential Number). Times like these I wished I lived in Korea. urgh.

Something funny I did to mark the conclusion (of hopefully the first of two seasons) of Hyung Jun Becomes a Progamer.

anyway, I don't quite like looking at Hyung Jun in that recent fancam posted by prettyboy! His eyebags are so big!! He must have spent late nights trying to brush up on his gaming skills! he needs to eat some broccoli! hehe

I have this crazy idea for awhile now. We all know that Leader's fans have been very supportive of leader and have been doing charity work in his name.

I was thinking of doing the same thing for Hyung Jun (baby ). But I'm not sure whom I should approach because not many fans frequent here. Was thinking of a donation drive and then donate to a charity in Baby's name. And suddenly after watching the Documentary of Heart to Heart and being reminded again that Hyung Jun really likes small animals (hahaha similar to me, esp dogs), I thought of donating whatever that is collected to animal charity such as SPCA.

But I am actually really scared that it would be a blacklash, because I don't know how netizens will see this. Netizens never fail to amaze me (albeit in a bad way) about how they can look at things so negatively. Will donating to an animal charity bring criticisms such as things like... we view animals more importantly than humans? because there are also many children / disabled / poor people waiting to be helped..

sigh, don't know. But all I know is I'm actually quite willing to fork out 1/3 of a mth's salary to do something in the name of Kim Hyung Jun. But of course, it doesnt matter how much fans are willing to donate. Even if its 1000 won ( which is less than 1USD). It's the thought that counts...

*sigh* It's hard being a MBCGame fan and a Hyung Jun fan sometimes. I go to the team liquid forum to read their posts about Baby and it's sad that some pple always try to put him (and MBC Game team) down. Some not very nice things were said. And when other pple try to defend him, they get shot down too. It's like pple don't care how rude they are. So I've stopped lurking at their forum.

^ are you a SC fan of pro gaming in korea? ahahaha... do you have a favorite team... maybe MBC Game? ( >.< hope you don't mind me asking... it's hard to come across someone in the k-drama section of soompi - of course given that soompi is not for gaming that probability is low to being with),.

i think Yeom Bosung is a funny guy. maybe he doesn't come off this way but in other programs he does.

@crazynoona: the question is, how will it be organised, logistically it might be difficult because we're from diff countries. I like the idea of SPCA though because pple seldom donate to animal charities, only human charities. Yeah, netizens (i always find this a strange word) can be scary, I'm also not sure what the backlash will be cos some netizens will attack anything...

I agree, I think Bo Sung was really cautious with this show, perhaps he tried not to speak too much. A couple shows I watched of him in 2009 he was very outspoken and funny towards his hyungs. Perhaps there was some criticism on Korean blogs, u never know. Sometimes netizens can make a mountain out of a molehill. Even when Jaekyung left a msg on Shark's cyworld it became a topic on forums. Which reminds me of something... after he lost to Flash a couple days ago, someone left a msg on Bo Sung's cyworld: When are you going to win against Yeong Ho? That was mean. So he deleted it.

A little bit off topic but I was surfing for e-sports news at the MBC site and I came across an article saying that after the success of Hyung Jun's Progamer, both OGN (the other gaming network in Korea) and MBCGame are now trending towards variety shows with celebrities in them. The team play event that Hyung Jun partnered Shark in yesterday was for the promotion of MBC's new show I think. It starts on the 22nd and is hosted by Kim Ga Yeon (the lady Baby met at the MSL finals in ep.2). I seriously doubt it will be a success though because before the Progamer show I'd never heard much of Kim Ga Yeon (other than something abt her and Boxer?) and the list of celebs they're inviting to play on the show I've never heard of them as well. There was some mention of the SKT manager though.lol.

I don't think the success of Progamer can be so easily replicated because it's not possible to find another Kim Hyung Jun (total bias here!) and the chemistry between Hyung Jun and his teammates/coach was just perfect. If they don't want to film a second season, MBC shld just give Hyung Jun and Shark their own show.

They could do something simple like visit a diff team house every week or follow a famous progamer ard on his day off. During the KesPa off-season they could even do a 1N2D kinda thing with a diff. team each week. I imagine 1N2D Hyung Jun/Shark style wld be really funny.

^ i kinda agree about the variety show spin-offs. i think part of the reason it works is because of hyungjun's personality. but then again, you never know for other celebs. imo Shark is definitely enjoying the entertainment world...

about the idea of visiting a diff team house... i don't know if you already know/saw, but i OGN (or MBC Game) already did a show like that before. forgot the name of the show since it was a while back. it's one where they deliver chicken to the house and some of the SC gamecasters would visit the house and sleep overnight. the idea being that they the older seonbae gamecasters, such as gangmin, can give advice to the younger SC players about gaming/being a pro gamer.... the show ended, not surprisingly, because there are only so many teams they can visit. (too bad they didn't show STX Soul's team house though lol).

if there is one show i want to see continued is star 7224 with kim jungmin as host, but is now completing the military service. i think i liked it because jungmin was younger and so the players can open more up to him due to less age gap.

Two more days to @play... then 2 whole hours of watching Hyung Jun and Shark, yay! I hope they don't put in a 3rd person though. Byeong Jun (the guy with the PD gf who ate dinner with Baby and Shark in ep.3) has a boom boom voice, he kinda talks over everyone else.

@play is basically MCed by a bunch of guys, all ex-progamers except for Shark. They take turns hosting the show and there are several diff episodes a week. Occasionally, one of MBCGame female presenters MCs the show as well. They always have two MCs every episode and sometimes they invite famous progamers onto the show to MC as well.

On the show they challenge/play starcraft with members of the public over battlenet and answer funny questions from viewers as well. It's mostly 2:2 team play, meaning the two MCs vs 2 members of the public. They do other stuff but most of it is like that.

You recall this scene from Progamer episode 1? (photo credit: Park Yeonghee and Shark's cyworlds)

The producers gathered all the MBCGame MCs (Shark's one of them) to talk about Hyung Jun's skill level. The good-looking ex-progamer Seung Yeop who played against Hyung Jun in episode 1 (he also appears in episode 8) is one of the MCs as well. I think one of the PD noonas of @play is the lady who ate dinner with Hyung Jun and Shark in episode 3. She usually uploads many pictures from the show onto her cyworld so I'm hoping she will upload photos for this Sunday's episode. Nope, my bad, she's not a PD, she's listed as an MBC "talent" and she does foreign language voice dubbing for MBC among other voice work. I thought she was a PD since she has so many pictures of Shark on her cyworld but erm ok.
