Lee Se Young And Ji Sung In Talks To Star In Upcoming SBS Drama

Lee Se Young and Ji Sung may be starring together in a new SBS medical drama!

On March 11, Lee Se Young’s agency Prain TPC confirmed that the actress had been offered a leading role in the upcoming drama “Doctor Room” (working title). A representative of the agency stated, “Lee Se Young has received a casting offer for SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Doctor Room,’ and she is currently reviewing the offer.”

The representative clarified that the actress had not yet come to a decision about whether to accept the role, explaining, “[‘Doctor Room’] is one of multiple projects for which she has received an offer.”

“Doctor Room” is a new medical drama about doctors specializing in pain management. In a refreshing take on the genre, “Doctor Room” will portray the doctors’ search for the cause of their patients’ mysterious pain as a thrilling chase, almost like a detective hunting down the perpetrator behind an unsolved crime. The drama will also tackle the debate surrounding the controversial practice of euthanasia.

Lee Se Young has been offered the role of Kang Si Young, a legendary anesthesiologist who was always at the top of her class throughout medical school. The talented doctor inherited her skills from her cool-headed, rational mother, while she inherited her empathy, listening skills, and warm bedside manner from her father.

Meanwhile, Ji Sung is currently in talks to star as Cha Yo Han, a genius anesthesiologist who is also the youngest professor at his medical school. The brilliant doctor goes by the nickname “10 Seconds,” referring to his ability to figure out his patients in the 10 seconds that it takes for them to enter an examination room and walk to their seat.

“Doctor Room” is currently scheduled to premiere in July of this year.

Awww~~ Se Young page is not so active. I juz foung her thru Memorist. She was awesome in there. And backtracking watching all her dramas: the Crowned Clown, Doctor John and some varieties and interviews. She so bubbly and so lovely and cute. I wish there are more info of Lee Se Young.

2PM's Lee Jun Ho and actress Lee Se Young have been offered the main lead roles for upcoming drama "Red Sleeves"!

On March 9, media outlets reported that the comeback drama of Lee Jun Ho may be the upcoming MBC series "Red Sleeves" together with actress Lee Se Young.

Their agencies both released a statement regarding their casting offers. Lee Jun Ho's agency JYP Entertainment stated that the idol actor is positively considering the offer to be the main lead of the said drama. Lee Se Young's agency Prain TPC also confirmed that the actress received the offer and she's currently reviewing it.

Upcoming drama "Red Sleeves" will be helmed by director Jung Ji In who also worked on the drama "Radiant Office". The script will be written by "The Emperor: Owner of the Mask" writer.

Actress Lee Se Young on the other hand was part of the 2020 drama "Kairos" together with Shin Sung Rok and Ahn Bo Hyun. She also starred in several dramas such as "Memorist", "Doctor John", "The Crowned Clown", "A Korean Odyssey" and more.

"Red Sleeves" is expected to air sometime in September.

2PM’s Junho and Lee Se Young are confirmed to star in the upcoming MBC historical melodrama “The Red Sleeve Cuff” (literal translation) together!

The new Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Red Sleeve Cuff” will be a record of an imperial court romance between a court lady, who wanted to protect the life she has chosen, and an emperor, who put the nation first before love. “The Red Sleeve Cuff,” which is based on a novel of the same name, will be helmed by director Jung Ji In, who worked on “Radiant Office” and “Hold Me Tight,” and it will be written by scriptwriter Jung Hae Ri, who worked on “Ruler: Master of the Mask.”

Junho will be playing the meticulous and proud Yi San, who was born as the direct descendant and eldest grandson of the King. Yi San puts in endless effort in order to become a good and wise king, but he has been traumatized by his father’s death. However, when he meets the ambitious court lady Seong Deok Im, he clumsily begins to show a romantic side he didn’t know he had. Yi San will one day become Joseon’s King Jeongjo, and in the process, he’ll be conflicted between choosing cold rationality as one nation’s leader and passionate love as just one man.

Through the dramas “Just Between Lovers,” “Wok of Love,” “Confession,” and “Good Manager,” Junho received praise for his stable acting and ability to take on any genre. “The Red Sleeve Cuff” will be his first project since his discharge from his mandatory service in March. Viewers are highly anticipating Junho’s transformation into Jeongjo Yi San as he goes back and forth between a level-headed monarch to a man in love.

Lee Se Young will be playing court lady Seong Deok Im, who wants to independently make decisions about her life rather than be one of the King’s many women. Seong Deok Im, who will one day become the royal noble consort Ui of the Seong clan, seeks out small moments of personal happiness inside the palace, in which pressing political matters often occur. Although her everyday life was once peaceful, her life drastically changes when she meets Yi San.

The actress has already impressed viewers with numerous projects including “The Crowned Clown,” “Doctor John,” “Memorist,” and “Kairos.” In her most recent project “Kairos,” Lee Se Young made a shocking transformation with her new short hairstyle, leaving a strong impression on viewers. Due to her detailed and skilled acting, viewers are excited to see Lee Se Young take on the role of the court lady Seong Deok Im, who will make even Joseon’s King fall in love with her.

MBC’s upcoming drama “The Red Sleeve Cuff” (literal title) revealed a behind-the-scenes look at the first script reading!

The new Friday-Saturday drama “The Red Sleeve Cuff” will be a record of an imperial court romance between a court lady who wanted to protect the life she had chosen and an emperor who put the nation first before love. The drama is based on a popular novel of the same name and will be a traditional sageuk (historical drama). “The Red Sleeve Cuff” has been confirmed to premiere on November 5.

The script reading for the drama took place earlier in May with director Jung Ji In and scriptwriter Jung Hae Ri as well as actors Junho, Lee Se Young, Kang Hoon, Lee Deok Hwa, Park Ji Young, Jang Hee Jin, Jang Hye Jin, Jo Hee Bong, Seo Hyo Rim, Kang Mal Geum, Oh Dae Hwan, Lee Min Ji, Ha Yul Ri, Lee Eun Saem, Kwon Hyun Bin, and more. During the session, each actor flawlessly immersed themselves into their roles to showcase their passionate acting.

2PM’s Junho plays the meticulous and proud Yi San, who was born as the direct descendant and eldest grandson of the King. Junho added a magnetic appeal on top of the character’s fastidious nature and serious charisma, raising even more anticipation for the actor’s portrayal. Lee Se Young stars as court lady Seong Deok Im, who wants to independently make decisions about her life rather than be one of the King’s many women. Using her bright and carefree yet clever charm, Lee Se Young developed a character viewers can’t help but love.

Kang Hoon also realistically portrayed the character Hong Deok Ro, who hides a cold personality beneath his warm and gentle appearance, while Lee Deok Hwa impressed with his powerful presence as he transformed into Yeongjo. Furthermore, reliable actors such as Park Ji Young and Jang Hee Jin heightened the quality of the drama even further.

The actors at the script reading had such undeniable chemistry that it was difficult to believe it was the first time they were working together. Despite the barrier created by the difference in their characters’ statuses, Junho and Lee Se Young still portrayed exceptional chemistry, raising anticipation for their heart-fluttering romance in the future. Junho’s relationship with Kang Hoon and Lee Deok Hwa were also highlighted during the script reading, while Lee Se Young, Jang Hye Jin, Lee Min Ji, Ha Yul Ri, and Lee Eun Saem brought endless laughter to the set as they acted out the refreshing story revolving around the court ladies.

Following the script reading, the two leading actors shared their thoughts on their first experience acting together. Junho shared, “Lee Se Young is an actress I wanted to meet through a project one day, so I’m happy to work with her like this.” He added, “I think this drama has a different, special, and novel charm compared to the original work. Please love it a lot.”

Lee Se Young commented, “I really enjoyed the script and the original work. I prepared for this project while hoping to portray Deok Im beyond how she is portrayed within the original work. I’m anticipating that we’ll be able to showcase fantastic teamwork.”

The new Friday-Saturday drama “The Red Sleeve” will be a record of an imperial court romance between a court lady who wanted to protect the life she has chosen and an emperor who put the nation first before love. The drama is based on a popular novel of the same name and will be a traditional sageuk (historical drama).

2PM’s Junho plays the meticulous and proud Yi San, who was born as the direct descendant and eldest grandson of the King. Lee Se Young stars as court lady Seong Deok Im, who wants to independently make decisions about her life rather than be one of the King’s many women.

The drama previously shared a glimpse of Junho in character. This time, MBC showed a sneak peek of Lee Se Young’s new role.

In the new stills, Seong Deok Im exudes gentle and mature vibes in her light pink hanbok (traditional clothing) and neatly braided hair. In one photo, she is sitting alone in a library and writing in a book. Unlike ordinary court ladies, she’s ambitious and straightforward, and it will be intriguing to see her unique charms. Another photo shows Seong Deok Im racing somewhere with a bright smile on her face. She still has a book by her side, and she looks lighthearted as she sprints through the forest.

The production team shared, “We can’t imagine Seong Deok Im being played by anyone else. Lee Se Young has solid experience built through her long acting career. She is creating a three-dimensional and attractive character by freely moving back and forth between the confident and simple human Seong Deok Im and the dignified court lady Seong Deok Im. Viewers will fall in love with Lee Se Young’s charm that will also captivate Junho.”

The drama is slated to premiere in November.
