10th Anniversary of MOTHER

Back in April, prior to the release of PARASITE, Bong Joon Ho contacted Plain Archive. He wanted to mark the 10th anniversary of his film MOTHER by holding a small screening where he hoped to hand out behind-the-scenes photobooks for the cast and crew. The initial set of photos Bong shared with us were striking and beautiful, which is why we wanted the photos to be seen by many others. We finished working on the book and it’s titled: Memories of MOTHER.

Bong was in the middle of post-production for PARASITE when he opened up an old external hard drive. Photos from the set of MOTHER were resting without anyone taking a look for a decade. The stills were taken by the cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo (SNOWPIERCER, PARASITE) himself. MOTHER was the first time Hong and Bong finally *collaborated.* They wanted to work together for a while.

The two renowned filmmakers were a decade younger when they made a truly unique film with star actors like Kim Hye-ja and Won Bin. MOTHER now occupies its own special territory within the Bong Joon Ho world/genre.

Over 200 photos were carefully chosen by Bong himself. He tells Hong, “my belly isn’t there,” while Hong says, “Hey Joon Ho, we were so young.” You’ll find an interview with the DP Hong Kyung-pyo and essays by Seo Ji-hyung (Photographer), Baek Eun-ha and Tim Grierson.

Yoo Jae Suk and celebrity couple Won Bin and Lee Na Young have denied any association to Shincheonji, the religious organization at the center of coronavirus outbreak in the city of Daegu.

On March 4, Won Bin and Lee Na Young's label Eden 9 responded to reports alleging the couple were members of the religious sect, stating, "We've found that there are false rumors spreading about Eden 9's agency artists. We're letting you know this is not the truth. We're deeply regretful that these groundless rumors are being produced, distributed, and spread indiscriminately." Eden 9 added legal action would be taken if the rumors continue.

Yoo Jae Suk's agency FNC Entertainment denied the rumors the MC is a member of Shincheonji, stating, "Our artist has nothing to do with the religion in question, and the rumors are false," adding legal action will be taken.

Members of the Shincheonji church reportedly did not follow proper self-quarantine procedures, which caused coronavirus to spread within the congregation.

Won Bin and Lee Na Young's side to take tough legal actions against malicious rumormongers

 

 

The management company of Won Bin and Lee Na Young has taken an official stance that rumors stating that the two actors are related to the Shincheonji cult are "completely false".

 

On the afternoon of March 4, the management agency Eden9 issued a notice, "Hello. This is Eden9. We have noticed that there is a spreading baseless rumor that Eden9 actors are related to the cult. We would like to clearly announce that this is not true."

 

The company then added, "The company feels extremely sorry about the current situation when unfounded rumors continue to appear and are spread lawlessly."

 

The Eden9 side clearly expressed the stance, "Regarding this, we will spare no effort to protect the honor of our affiliated actors and prevent all damages from arising. We will take tough legal actions without leniency against the acts of damaging honor, deliberately defaming, slandering and spreading false news."

 

Earlier, a list of many celebrities' real names who were believed to be followers of a cult related to the Covid-19's spread was published and spread on SNS and online community. Won Bin and Lee Na Young were also mentioned in the list. Therefore, their management agencies expressed their stance in response to this issue.

 

On the other hand, Won Bin has been taking a break since the premiere of the movie "The Man from Nowhere", which premiered in 2010. Meanwhile, Lee Na Young has returned to the small screen with the TV series "Romance Is a Bonus Book" in 2019.

On March 7, management agency Eden 9 said, "Won Bin and Lee Na Young decided to reduce the rent on their buildings by 50% in March and April."
 
According to a relevant representative, Won Bin and his wife Lee Na Young reached this decision before informing the management agency to silently help renters.

On May 13th, top actor Won Bin was spotted in Gangnam for new commercial filming. Won Bin chose a rather simple look for the filming. He wore a plain oversized shirt, paired it with dark green slacks.

  His youthful looks also had many wondering what kind of skin treatments he’s been receiving all this time, or if it’s a combination of a stress-free life and good genes that helped him look this good.
