"Bogota: City of the Lost"

 

 

The crime thriller film, helmed by Kim Seong-je, follows Guk-hui (Song Joong-ki) and his family, who relocate to Bogota, Colombia, after their family business collapses in the wake of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. An unexpected burglary at the airport traps them in the foreign country much longer than anticipated. Desperate for success and a way out, Guk-hui makes every effort, only to find himself entangled even deeper in the challenges of survival. Song portrays a man struggling to navigate a precarious existence in an unfamiliar land, doing whatever it takes to make ends meet. The director made his directorial debut with "The Unfair" in 2015.

Personally, I feel honored to receive an award from Kim Jong-soo. He acts as my father in the upcoming movie “Bogota: City of the Lost.” I remember him telling me about a movie with a good script called “Hopeless” in the hotel swimming pool when we were shooting “Bogota: City of the Lost” in Cyprus, and he also said the movie’s production team was asking for an actor pay discount because the production cost was insufficient. I’m even more touched to receive an award from him, my senior. "Hopeless” is not just a rascal. It talks about the wounds of two boys who grew up suffering from domestic abuse. Thank you to director Kim Chang-hoon for directing so well, and thank you to PlusM CEO Hong Jeong-in for making such a big and difficult decision to invest in this movie. Song Joong Ki shared his heartfelt thoughts on the first screening of Bogota: City of the Lost. During the post-screening Q&A, Song Joong Ki expressed his excitement, saying, “I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long—multiply that by 20,000 times. This was not an easy project. The shoot was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s more dear to me. I had already committed to ‘Space Sweepers’ when I received the script. At first glance, I thought it was just a simple story about conflicts among Korean immigrants who settled abroad during the IMF era. But after watching the film for the first time with the audience, I didn’t realize how deep the emotions were. It hit me even harder than when I first read the script, so I feel a bit emotional.” Bogota: City of the Lost is set in Colombia, where a group of Koreans, who have lost hope in life, dive into the dangerous world of smuggling to survive. ‘Revolver’ Wins Big at 2024 Buil Film Awards, Song Joong Ki Takes Best Supporting Actor

 

 

On October 3rd, the 2024 Buil Film Awards were held at the Signiel Busan in Haeundae-gu, Busan, with actors Kim Dong Wook and Go Ah Sung hosting the event. The night was filled with celebration as Revolver took home three awards, including Best Film, while Song Joong Ki achieved a major win with Best Supporting Actor for Hopeless.
