Actors Jin Gu, Park Ha-sun and Han Chae-young will lead the drama ‘Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek’.
The new KBS drama ‘Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek’ has finalized its casting of Jin Gu, Park Ha-sun and Han Chae-young. Depicting a never-seen-before world of Advertising, the drama plans to portray the passionate work and love of the industry personnel.
Jin Gu, as the Art Director prodigy Lee Tae-baek, will portray the rise of the ‘loser’ with no credentials to the top of the industry.
Park Ha-sun will portray the role of the intern copywriter Baek Ji-yoon of the Geumsan Ad, the industry leader in Advertising. A passionate and earnest woman, she will lead the drama as the leading lady and the love interest of Jin Gu.

A producer of the drama commented that “the title’s ‘Genius’ does not mean talent, but rather the passion of the work enabling people to be the ‘Genius’ of the work. Ad Genius Lee Tae-baek secures cast
by girlfriday dramabeans.com
2013010908163905139_1.jpg
Things are certainly lookin’ up for underdog success story Ad Genius Lee Tae-baek. Jin Gu (26 Years) has confirmed that he’ll play the lead, and Park Ha-sun (High Kick 3) has signed on to co-star. All I can say is, thank goodness she’s doing this instead of Gangnam Style. Han Chae-young (A Man Called God) has also joined the cast, along with cuddly ajusshi Go Chang-seok (Gone With the Wind).
The KBS Monday-Tuesday drama will be 16 episodes, and will be helmed by a relatively new team, with a head writer and PD who have only been secondaries on other dramas and films. The drama promises to be a warm uplifting success story about Lee Tae-baek, a man who comes to Seoul from the country with nothing but a high school diploma and a dream. He’ll go from handing out ads in the streets to fulfilling his dream as an art director and ad man.
Park Ha-sun plays the heroine, Baek Ji-yoon, a copywriter intern at the ad company that’ll be at the center of the story. She’s sincere and hardworking, and her journey will parallel the hero’s as they fight for their jobs every step of the way. Han Chae-young plays Go Ari, an executive at the company who sacrificed her past and her love to get to the top, and is described as a harsh realist. Go Chang-seok plays the CEO of a tiny ad company, described as a corner store compared to the giant conglomerates. He’ll be a key player in changing Lee Tae-baek’s fate.
The “genius” in the title is apparently not going to be used in the traditional sense of a person born with genius ability, but more to convey the idea that a man’s hard work and effort will give him a second life, where he’s reborn as a genius. O-kay. Here’s a better thought… you could not use the word genius and use a better word that means what you want it to mean. Just a suggestion. I suppose I should just be happy that he’s not another dramaland genius. So far, it sounds like it could be a nice little underdog workplace drama with a touch of romance and some feel-good character moments, if done right.
Ad Genius Lee Tae-baek follows School 2013, and the premiere is TBD based on School’s pending extension.

Here's a sneak peak at what went on during the photo shoot for the hotly anticipated KBS Monday/Tuesday TV drama "AD Genius Lee TaeBaek."
On Tuesday, January 15th, Jin Goo (Plays the role of Lee Taebaek), Park Hasun (Paik Jiyoon), Jo Hyeonjae (Eddie Kang) and Han Chaeyoung (Ko Ari) who star in this upcoming TV drama gathered at a Studio in Nonhyeon Dong, Seoul for their drama's first photo shoot. The enthusiastic and talented cast made sure the session was fun and full of energy.
Jin Goo was clearly in character. Just like Lee Taebaek, he was brimming with enthusiasm and positivity. Park Hasun was also role-playing, made sure she lights up the studio with her charms. Jo Hyeonjae was looking sharp in his form-fitting suit, a sight the ladies could not keep their eyes off. Han Chaeyoung reminded everyone why she is known as the living Barbie doll in her beautiful one-piece.
The four professionals were already in character as anyone could plainly see. The team's camaraderie was amazing, as the actors always gathered to monitor every shot taken of each member. They gave each other compliments and constructive pointers. Basically they were a delight for the crew, making the process quick, efficient and easy.
The male stars were always displaying great chivalry before their female partners. Regardless of age, the cast addressed each other with honorific expressions. The actors were clearly focused in making sure they give their all to their new drama. Even during breaks, their eyes were glued to their scripts. Photographer Hwang Youngcheol who was in charge of the photo shoot for "AD Genius Lee TaeBaek" said he was grateful to the cast for coming in at such an early hour of the day, and displaying great enthusiasm. He added that the task of choosing a few photos out of the lot was impossible, as each shot was amazing, thanks to the focused and cooperative stars. "AD Genius Lee TaeBaek" features the lives of professionals in the cutthroat world of advertising, where admen and women spend many sleepless nights brainstorming and researching to create the perfect commercial, copy or campaign to satisfy clients and win over consumers. And of course, the fascinating characters do it with style.
