The man gave me a business card... tried to get me to give him my contact info...

but then, I got freaked out... cause I've heard a lot about the scams...

so i pretended i didn't understand Cantonese, and just spoke English to him.

The moment i started to speak english, he goes like, "sorry"

and walked away xP

Be careful of scouting. Sometimes it may be a trap leading to a pornography shoot etc... That would be a sad thing if it happened to any of you guys/girls.

I went to the Philippines for a vacation about five years ago (I'm 17 now)

and my aunts made me do this yearly traditional parade where you dress up and walk around your city.

This photographer (he's white) kept taking my picture and he offered me to model for his agency, but my parents were like, "eeeeh"

So we just ignored the offer and to think about it, I was 12/13 that time, so.. wtf. XD

I guess my experience can be considered as getting scouted. I was on vacation in Taiwan with my family when I was around 11, and my aunt who lived there was bringing my mom and my sisters and I around to shop. At one point we got to this shop that sold clothes for middle aged women, and my sisters and I were too lazy/tired to go inside with our aunt & mom, so we just sat right outside on these benches. Then.. this lady came up to us and started speaking to us, asking how old we were, where we were from, and then where our parents were. We thought we were in trouble or something (she came out from the shop) XD so one of my sisters ran into the shop and brought our mom out. Then the lady started talking to my mom.. and I stopped paying attention after that. But after the lady walked away I asked my mom what that was about and she said that lady wanted us to audition for some modeling company/agency she worked for, and she had given my mom a business card too. My mom told the lady that we were foreigners from the States so we weren't interested in the auditions and the lady apparently answered that she knew because we looked that way. Rofl interesting....

May sound very detailed but really I can vaguely remember it haha.

I was scouted by a model agency. I went with my parents to the agency, had an interview, and was accepted.

Then we went to this studio to get our pictures professionally taken and I guess they posted it on-line.

Almost every week I had a go-see (you walk in they take a few pictures)

And in a few days or that same day you would find out whether you got the job.

This got pretty hectic since I had to leave school to go to New York for the go-sees.

I got quite a few jobs, but I also had to miss school for a few days to actually go for the shoot.

Finally, my parents decided they didn't want me to model anymore since it was taking away from school time.

Sometimes I still want to take up modeling again, but my parents are like, "No."

idk what their called since i always tend to ignore them and walk away.

because of my outfits, disregarding my height, they ask me to be a model.. which is weird cause most american models are tall, so they seemed like scammers to me =/

I got scouted while I was in Korea couple of time but I'm not really into becomming a Korean singer or actor or whatever so I refused. Plus if you are just decent looking, they ask almost everyone. Most of the people who scout are not even working for a good company anyways.

for me it happened recently this year. me n my friend were sitting by the curb waiting for a ride (after the festival) this guy walked up to us and gave us a paper n asked us to audition sometime. it was for disney channel tho :/ i didn't rlly kno how to react cuz i dun watch disney channel n i find most of their shows corny. i also am not a fan of hannah montana so i never went.

Since you get turned into : Actor , Singer , Dancer , Model (Well they mostly say people of disney are all that).

You can make lots of money with just FUNNY acting

I totally would have done it.

But i live in europe, so disney channel is no option for me

You should always be careful if you get scouted in unexpected places, usually they'll scout you if you've already auditioned before or if your name is quite well known around the world, there would be absolutely no reason for them to scout you out of the blue if your name is not known very well.

The other reasons for you to be scouted is if one day your friend asked you to do your specialty (I bet it's happened to you) and they recorded it as a video, then they'll send the video to the entertainment company filling it in with your details, that's the other reason why you'd be scouted.

If a random lady or man came up to you to ask you to do something for her or him and you're alone you would be smart and reject the offer unless they're fully licensed and able to prove it. 

Always be careful for these things.

I'm pretty sure they'll scout for people no matter where you are, they'll just get your information and they'll only scout you if you're REALLY talented and they really want you.

Example is if you won Super StarK and you'll probably get scouted by JYP, SM or even CUBE, because they watch those shows to see who's talented and who has the looks.

I was scouted once in the mall when I was like 12...

I thought it was pretty cool, until i read a bit more and decided not too. Annoying calls from them time to time . I was stopped a few times at great america but I wasn't that interested so took the card, and ended up throwing them away. Ahah

Not always true, Nichkhun was scouted randomly,  he had no history of singing/dancing and he even said he was horrible back then. You can look up his story.
