It has potential. The first episode was attractive enough for me to want to watch more. Also it has a really solid veteran cast of older actors.

Main point of attraction for me? Lee Min Woo- I have loved him ever since seeing him as the lead guy in the 90's drama KAIST. There was something so sexy about his nerdy intelligence......

KAIST also had the late Lee Eun Joo, Chae Rim, Ji Sung etc...(Lee Byung Hun guest starring)

What's KAIST? Do you mind pointing me to a thread that's already about it or something where I can read the synopsis? =] I haven't started but reading the reviews and all, it sounds super interesting. I hope someone subs this or puts up some synopsis, but if not, I'm still just grateful to have it to watch.

Haha, I was all excited because I thought that I could see Lee MinWoo (from Shinhwa) and Goo Hye Sun as a couple, but then, when I realized that Lee Minwoo , wasn't the Lee Minwoo that I was thinking, and then I was all like : "What the heck?" but, whatever, I hope lot's an lot's of people watch the drama, at least for Goo Hye Sun...hehe

Does Goo Hye Sun speak with a North Korean accent?

i think she speaks the dialect that korean ethnics living in china speak. very close to north korean accent.

in the first episode, goo hye-seon's character, 19 year old "gook-hwa" gets on a boat from china to korea to meet her husband-to-be. only her husband-to-be died accidently the day before she was supposed to arrive. his family tried calling her to let her know but she had already left so they had no choice but wait til she arrives to let her know about what happened. so lee min woo's character (woo-kyeong) who is the nephew of the deceived groom goes to the airport to fetch her.

gook-hwa who has no idea about the death arrives chirpy and sweet and super cute. (she's too adorable seriously the gps/seatbelt annoucement. hahahha)... woo-kyeong doesn't have the heart to tell her that his uncle died already, so he just gets her in the car and starts driving home. right before they arrive home he tells her not to be too shocked when she goes home since something really unexpected happened. gook-hwa arrives and sees ppl mourning and thinks it's the grandpa who died.... but when woo-kyeong escorts her in she sees everyone but the groom and realizes it's her husband-to-be who died... (ouch)

then they also introduce some of the other characters. there's the snobby "yoon hoo" and his bratty sister 'yoon jeong'

who are rich thx to their parents.

based on the first episode, it looks really cute. there's this youthful and heartfelt energy from the beginning.

this drama is just too cute for words. ^^ episode 3 had me in tears. the part where gook-hwa presents all those gifts she prepared for the hong family. the story of 'yang gook-hwa' is too bitter sweet. poor girl! she kinda reminds me of 'kim jong-nam' from 'peculiar woman peculiar man' how she's orphaned and determined to survive.

yang gook-hwa

19. ethnic korean from northeastern china. met with the 3rd son of the hong family for a few days while he went to korea. they agreed to marry and she came to korea but he dies and so begins her young life alone in korea.

kang shin-hyeong

her parents were good friends with yoon-hoo's parents and shin-hyeong grew up with yoon-hoo and when they were in kindergarten when yoon-hoo freaked up during a stage play and started crying, she calmed him down by kissing him. unfortunately shin-hyeong's parents died in an accident when she was in highschool, and she's worked hard to raise her much younger brother who is now in the army and soon to be a medical resident. she obviously likes yoon-hoo, but yoon-hoo seems to think of her only as a friend. she works at the company yoon-hoo's dad owns.

park yoon-jeong

she's 23, and looks like a barbie doll. her mom tries hard to set up with men with best marriage prospects in terms of money, family background, looks, and education. even though her oldest sister is distant from the family because she married for love without her parents approval, yoon-jeong still believes in love and wishes she could marry for love too.

park yoon-hoo

29 years old. yoon-jeong's older brother and the 2nd child in the family. he's kinda of a jerk because he treats ppl mean but actually he's a lonely guy and a nice guy in heart. he is good friends with woo-kyeong.

he was once wounded by love when his ex soo-jeong dumped him to marry another man and they even have a baby.

yoon-hoo and yoon-jeong's parents. he runs a big company, and she pretends to be a model homemaker, going on broadcast and seminars about how to cook food made with love for one's family, when in fact she hires a cook in her own home. their oldest daughter doesn't talk to them because they didn't approve her choice of marriage 10 years ago. the daughter vows to show them that she can be happy without money and works hard to raise her own daughter while being a good support to her salesman husband.

hong woo-kyeong

shin-hyeong and yoon-soo's exclassmate and friend, and currently a coworker at mr. park's company.

even though his family's poor they are a loving family with grandpa, father, mother, uncle, and sister. he is deeply sad about his uncle's accidental death and felt special toward the uncle's fiance, 19 year old gook-hwa.

some highlights from episode 2-6:

- gookhwa who was supposed to return to china decided to stay in korea because she would be alone in china or korea, and she wants to make something of herself in korea. she gets a place a sleep in exchange to clean the office, and begins looking for work while selling eggs.

- mr. park gets fed up with yoon-soo's indifferent attitude toward shin-hyeong and tells him he should marry her immediately. yoon-soo asks for 1 month to date shin-hyeong as a woman and at the end of the month he'll decide whether he will marry her. shin-hyeong is offended by this and realizes yoon-soo doesn't love her still but she's kinda stuck cuz she loves him.

- one day yoon-soo forgot his wallet at home and runs into gook-hwa who's selling eggs on the street to cars passing by. he gives her a ride to the trainstation since it's raining, but then realizes he needs gas for the car, and borrows her money. she says to give him his watch as a pawn and they agree to meet next day to exchange her money for his watch. next day comes and gook-hwa's running late and slips on the stairs and falls, crushing his watch which she kept in her pocket. she hurts her neck and misses the appointment and yoon-soo leaves thinking he's been scammed.

- gook-hwa takes a picture of herself in wedding gown and asks the photographer to superimpose her dead fiance's picture with it to make it look like a real wedding picture. gook-hwa writes a letter to her aunt and uncle in china, with the wedding picture, to tell them how happy she is and how good her husband is to her and how great things are so they needn't worry about her.

do you think gook-hwa, yoon-hoo and shin-yeong will be a love triangle? or gook-hwa, yoon-hoo and woo-kyeong? i really like shin-yeong's character. she seems really down to earth and friendly, very unusual for the "other woman" role

i think it's hilarious that Grandpa Hong and his son "Poong-Goo" (the uncle who's the musician) both are smitten by "Hye Sook" (the mysterious lady who pretended to be wealthy). Do we know why she closed her store and moved all of a sudden??

woo i'm glad you're still watching this. isn't it charming? i think goo hye seon sings the opening song. sure sounds like her. so cute. about the love triangles.. hm.. i like both yoonhoo and wookyeong and i think they will both fall for gookhwa. and shinhyeong is one-sided for yoon-hoo. and yoonjeong is one-sided for wookyeong. as usual the 'triangle' is pretty complicated. hehe. i love that the main guys are after the same girl. hehe love the classic triangle. and yup shinhyeong is such a sweetheart. maybe she'll end up with yoonhoo at the end after everything.. who knows. ha.

about the mysterious hyesook (btw that's her real name right?)... do you think it's possible that she is the guy who scammed gookhwa's wife? you know that guy who stole her money and ran off? and gookhwa fed his son? maybe hyesook is the little boy's mom? is that possible. probably not but just a thought.

yup it's too early to tell for sure, but i just wanna see both guys fight for the same woman. same old same old but captivating plot. never fails. ^^ i love both guys so much. each sweet in his own way....

i don't know that goo hye seon has a singing career but i know she did sing for nonstop 5 ost. she has such a childlike sweet voice. absolutely love her in here. i was thinking it would be hard to find a replacement for jong-nam-ee but i think i found it! hehe.
