Prosecution files arrest warrant for journalist who spread false rumors about Lee Si Young's sex tape

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office filed an arrest warrant Tuesday against a journalist by the name of Mr. Shin, for suspicions of spreading malicious rumors about Lee Si Young's nonexistent sex tape. 

The prosecution was said to have filed the arrest warrant after taking into account how Shin created and bruited malicious, defaming articles regarding Lee Si Young and the actress wishes for the culprit to be punished. It was investigated that Shin had heard rumors about Lee Si Young's sex tapes at a private meeting and proceeded to spread the falsehood to around ten people using messaging service KakaoTalk and various social media sites. 

 

A rep from the prosecution office relayed, "After Shin sent the messages via KakaoTalk, the falsity spread exponentially, passing through the political community." The so-called sex tape was investigated to have not existed at all. 

This past June, rumors were circulating that there was a video going around related to Lee Si Young, and that her agency, J,Wide-Company, got ahold of the video to blackmail her. The agency had promptly filed a complaint at the Seoul Prosecutors Office, asking for the perpetrator to be punished.

Perpetrator of Lee Si Young’s Sex Tape Rumor Found

The original perpetrator of the rumors against actress Lee Si Young has been found. Following this discovery, the Seoul Police Department has asked for an arrest warrant to be issued against the perpetrator. The rumor stated that there is a sex tape of the actress.

The police said, “The perpetrator wrote the false and malicious rumor against Lee Si Young, and it has harmed her greatly in her reputation, so an arrest has been deemed necessary.” The rumor has been circulating since July 30 via various social media channels. Although Lee Si Young’s agency denied the rumor, it kept spreading.

The agency and the actress have stated that they plan to find the perpetrator, and that there will be no leniency nor will there be any settlements. They are also considering pursing criminal and civil lawsuits.

Perpetrator of Lee Si Young’s Sex Tape Rumor Put on Trial

The reporter who first wrote about Lee Si Young‘s alleged sex tape was put on trial for libel.

Seoul Central Court announced that a reporter (whose name was only revealed to be Shin) has been arrested for libel, and his colleague (also named Shin) who initially told the reporter about the alleged sex tape will also be prosecuted.

According to the police, Shin heard from his colleage during a dinner that “a sex tape exists, and another newspaper’s legal team is pursuing the lead.” Shin subsequently shared the story without checking the facts in the form of unofficial tabloid circulation over social media. It is said that 11 other reporters and two of Shin’s friends received the initial circulation.

The actress’s management agency brought a complaint to the police when the circulation became widespread, asking to find the first person who started the rumor. The police’s searches, involving several search warrants in newspaper agencies and also in offices connected to the parliament, eventually led them to Shin.

Lee Si Young Requests Leniency For Those Who Only Spread Sex Tape Rumors

Although actress Lee Si Young was hurt by false rumors that spread about her this summer, she wants prosecutors to be lenient with those who merely spread them.

The rumors began to spread online in June, claiming that there was a sex tape featuring the actress and that her agency, J Wide Company, was using the tape to blackmail her. The rumors also suggested that she tried to kill herself over the impending scandal.

But Lee only wants the person who started the rumors to be punished and not those who later spread them. While they did spread false information they did not start it. Nevertheless, they should get the message that it is illegal.

The actress said that prevention of further incidents like this was far more important than punishment. It was important to spread the message that anyone who aided in the spread of rumors like this was likely to be fined. And arresting the person who started the rumors was a fitting message.

Lee Si Young recently completed the OCN drama "My Beautiful Bride" with Kim Moo Yeol and before that she appeared in 'Valid Love" with Uhm Tae Woong and Lee Soo Hyuk.

The actress is taking a break from the small screen at the moment but she is keeping busy. As an amateur boxer, she's training to try out for Korea's national boxing team that will compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.

Actress Lee Si Young Retires From Boxing

Actress Lee Si Young has retired from boxing.

According to a media outlet on September 23, Lee Si Young stopped training in June and has retired as an athlete due to chronic shoulder dislocation.

Lee Si Young had been training to compete for a spot on the national team that would represent Korea in the 2015 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. However, with her retirement, she also stops her journey towards the Olympics. With this, Lee Si Young retires from a six-year boxing career.

Meanwhile, Lee Si Young previously injured her shoulder during the 2013 Nationals. She was not able to participated in the 2014 Nationals because of the injury.

She still chased her dream, even attempting to convert to being a right-hander. However, her condition did not improve for her to continue on with her career.

Lee Si-yeong quits boxing due to shoulder injury

It turns out that actress Lee Si-yeong, who competed in the national boxing competition as an active boxer, quit boxing in June.

According to her agency, Lee Si-yeong stopped training and ended her boxing career in June 2015. She'd been training for the second national competition, but in the end, she has decided to quit boxing after 6 years.

The main cause for this decision was her habitual dislocation of her shoulder. She was injured in the 94th National Games in 2013. Her condition worsened so she gave up the next Games in 2014. She was speculated to be retiring from boxing because she only had 3 months left with Incheon City Hall. She also switched from being left handed to right handed to continue boxing, but her shoulder didn't improve. She'd been acting as well as boxing at the same time but eventually stopped training in June. That was when she was starring in the OCN drama "My Beautiful Bride". She hasn't been working out since then and only light work outs when she felt heavy.

Lee Si-yeong started boxing in 2010 when she starred in a boxing movie. She has been an amateur boxer until now.

I'm sorry to her that her dream of competing in The Olympics is over. The world lost out on a chance to see the prettiest boxer ever, and one of considerable skills, as well.  Five years is a long time for a person who must protect her features which mean so much to her in her number one career. I'm happy that she was able to do that. May Lee Si Young continue to grow and gain recognition as an actress and, hopefully, her shoulder will heal to be as strong and pain-free as it once was...
