Hats off to the Malaysians; the online publicity blitz for the MTV World Stage has been stupendous.

SG is also hosting a JK-pop concert on the same day: Sundown Festival 2010. After School & F.Cuz are representing Korea.

But I can see why WG bypassed it, yet will get to kill 3 birds with one stone (satisfy Malaysian WFs, garner global MTV coverage with the telecast, then perform in SINGfest 3 days later).

Hope the weather holds, though. All 3 shows are outdoors, but it has been a rainy July.

The following notice was previously passed around various Chinese-language WF communities.

The fan response was a little apathetic -- similar to, I guess, how we ourselves view announcements by the WGW website (i.e. official confirmations but often outdated too).

Well, the notice has now been published by an infotainment website, which I guess makes it newsworthy.

Hopefully, JYPE won't step on any big toes by going this public.

Like it or not, Taiwan government officials, Hong Kong tycoons & Macau casino kingpins take offense at being showed up. (Not to mention JYPE had got burned by China bureaucrats in early 2008, which killed WG's initial advance into that country.)

First of all, we are grateful to those who have unceasingly expressed their concern & love for the JYPE artistes.

Recently, there was a dramatic increase in fans' concern & support for WONDERGIRLS & fellow JYPE artistes. There were also some cases in which unscrupulous elements, out of individual interests, deliberately used JYPE singers to disseminate false itinerary-related information for fraudulent purposes.

Henceforth, all JYPE artistes' itineraries for China Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan will be announced only through this official website (www.jypchinafans.com).

To avoid confusing the masses with fraudulent & non-existent news in the future, we advise once more that all itineraries involving our company's artistes will be ultimately confirmed through this official website.

Again, we are grateful to everybody for their concern & love for our company's artistes. Thank you!

hey i'm just curious. when the girls have no schedule and stay in korea like right now (although they maybe have schedules that we don't know yet), do they stay in their dorm or stay with their family?. and if they stay with their family, what about lim? does she stay in the dorm since her parents live in HK, or her parents live in seoul and she stay with them like the rest of the girls?

WONDERGIRLS show: cash only for the priciest tickets

Super-popular WONDERGIRLS is bringing along their sunbaes & hoobaes to perform in Taiwan next month. Concert tickets went on sale at noon today. In just 50 minutes, the box office surpassed NT$10 million. As well, the priciest NT$5,000 & NT$4,000 tickets were only purchasable on-site, & cash only at that. As a result, many fans carrying $400,000 total cash were queueing up in the scorching sun. There were even people who got their tickets after waiting 40 hours. Who not accept credit card & online booking? The organizer said it was to ease the booking traffic online, & also because the fans are typically students without credit cards. Spot payment was the most convenient for them.

The cash-counting machines were continuously whirling, the staff were busy at work. The fans were anxious yet excited, taking out bundles of banknotes from their possessions. Glimpsing at their thickness, they must be worth tens of thousands NT dollars. But the fans who managed to buy the tickets were elated.

Reporter: "How long have you lined up?" Fan: "Shift system. But we came here 2 days ago, so it has been 2 days & 2 nights." Reporter: "48 hours in total?" Fan: "Yes."

Song 'Nobody': "I want nobody nobody but you."

WONDERGILS is coming to Taiwan next month to perform. Mid-priced tickets were obtainable through online booking, but the priciest NT$5,000 & NT$4,000 tickets were only purchasable on-site, & cash only at that.

Concert-organizer spokesperson Chen Yingzhen said: "We want to help ease the ticketing system, in order not to have it crash. We also realize that Taiwan's Kpop fans are mostly youngsters. They usually do not use credit cards."

Such a stipulation left the fans [physically] suffering as they braved the scorching sun, clasping shiny-white banknotes as they lined up. Yet the priciest tickets were in greater demand. The NT$5,000 ticket booth saw a long & snaking queue. By contrast, the NT$4,000 ticket booth saw fewer inquiries. Reporter: "Will you feel anguished?" Fan: "No. The ticket is worth it." Reporter: "Why buy NT$5,000 & not NT$4,000?" Fan: "To get closer to my idols!"

Including online sales, the box office hit NT$10 million in 50 minutes. WONDERGIRLS is utilizing their own super popularity by bringing along their fellow school disciples 2PM & MBLAQ [sic] for their Taiwan stage debuts. Unsurprisingly, the fans are willing to brave the scorching sun, holding onto large amounts of cash, yet needing to fight over the tickets. Unfortunately, such a sales model left them really [physically] suffering.

Korean girl-group WONDERGIRLS member Sohee exudes a maiden's allure. Sohee, who recently completed a sucessful American tour, was photographed for new snapshots. Against a black backdrop, her side profile displayed her unique femininity & sensuous maiden's allure. For this photoshoot, Sohee was also involved in the thematic selections & designs. She received the staff's consensus approval. In addition, a interview was conducted alongside the photoshoot, in which the aspirations of a girl approaching 20 years old were voiced. The photos & interview will be published in the August issue of DAZED & CONFUSED magazine.

@foebus : I thinked they are at Korea for filming new MV, CF, practice new songs etc so i think Ye Eun, So Hee or Sun Ye just stay at their house for a few days ( if that days their schedule is lesser), on the other days they stayed at their dorm together

at least Lim and Yu Bin stayed together , or maybe i hope other girls will invite Yoo Bin and Lim stay at her house

I AGREE. I love WG but I am beginning to dislike their retro style. I think JYP must hire an American composer for them. Seriously. I'm kinda sick of JYP's cheesy lyrics and retro tunes. I want something like SNSD's Run Devil Run or Miss A's Bad Girl Good Girl.

The girls need a material that would make the people go "wow" Their songs don't give justice to their talents.

i agree with you in a way, their concept is retro but its whats trending now in the fashion world. the garments that the wondergirls wear are actually 6-8 months in advance in the fashion world. if you can recall one of sunye's outfit, she's wearing a lingerie as an outer wear, that is actually not a retro look, its going to be this autumn's fashion trend. if you can also recall sohee's cut out clothing, its going to be one of the trending fashion for this autumn and winter. the entire group is wearing black leather during their meet and greet which is also going to be trending this autumn.

i personally like the way the wonder girls wear couture not just glam. or god forbid urban wear.. who said their style is retro its actually whats trending now.. i would like to see each one of them do an individual project such as a EP for each member, this will showcase a different style and concept for each member. i wonder what each members concept would be like ?? anyone ??

as for their songs, they do not need to change their music concept because jype has two other groups(miss-a and 4mintue) that will provide you with other musical genre you crave for.. i personally would not want the wonder girls to sing BAD GIRL GOOD GIRL, its not their style. i love the way they surprise you with a new song concept that's never been done before or that has a little bit of a retro twist to it..

It's possible LIM/Yoobin may be staying with Korean relatives.

But JYPE has dorms if WG requires accommodation, cuz daily dance practices continue even if there is no ongoing project.

They may get time off, but it is literally a family over there anyway. The artistes, trainees & staff hang out together socially.

Like how choreographer Kim Hwayoung tweeted to Yeeun about going to the movies, & Sunmi has already met up with Yoobin.

Sunye has a car, so I was thinking commute won't a problem for her as for the others,

But Asiae has this in-depth interview with MissA yesterday that included bits about JYPE life. MIN said she lives on her own (unlike her group mates) but doesn't consider it a plus due to the travel.

It should otherwise be work as usual for WG, despite being in Korea. This is the only downtime to prepare for the LP album: recording; filming; training; finalizing new concept, etc.

I doubt there will be any promotional or commercial activities but, given their industry friends & contacts, it is possible they may pop in on a radio show or do magazine shoots (ala OhBoy!zine/Dazed & Confused).

WG will stick with retro for the foreseeable future, cuz it is their bread & butter.

But 2DT also marks a change in that WG is moving further away from bubblegum towards classic pop (albeit retro-esque).

I include MissA's debut EP in this latter group. JYP still composes brilliant songs in this vein.

He's got great instincts too. Just look at the negativity towards Girl's Day's overtly bubblegum debut.

Both industry & listeners have gotten more sophisticated since 2007.

It's gonna be interesting which female proteges JYP will give the better songs to from now onwards, though.

I personally thought Cube had a songwriting winner with 4Minute's debut, but found their sophomore EP underwhelming in melodies.

In the longer term, I think WG will be given a period to pursue individual interests/activities, kinda like BIGBANG right now.

Logically, this will take place after the American stint (unless they have a breakthrough).

The subsequent WG comeback may deviate away from the retro template,  possibly for good. The girls will be older, more exposed to other genres, & have a parallel fanbase that grew up with them.

I don't play computer games but Dragon Nest 龙之谷 MMORPG released its Chinese open beta on Jul 22.

The publicity lead-up saw the China media highlighting, amongst others, the game's 5 dance emotes (Wonder Girls, RAIN, Hyori, Seo Taiji, BEG).

All of the latter have already been released prior; WG's was the Tell Me dance.

Omg that is so true. Like WG Nobody concept with the bright coloured tights and shoes combined with an retro/old looking fabric was quite popular here in the UK a year after the Nobody concept was release which I think is quite intresting... (Coloured tights especially)

I would love WG to do something completely different from retro though just to show those who don't usually follow wonder girls so they get a taster of their ability to pull anything off which us Wonderfuls see. I'm not sure if I wanna see another theatrical concept like Nobody quite too soon...who knows really depends on the type of song they release next..

her background is korean, lim's family left korea when she was at a young age, lived in HK(HUNG HOM ~ WHOMPOA GARDEN) for a very long time.

hmmm.. i don't know why.. but i just have this gut feeling that the wonder girls and JYP have something up their sleeve...

coz' if you look at it.. the 2dt album had only 1 new song.. maybe their saving up the rest of the songs for the full album..

ahhh.. it would really be a plus if the concept is not retro.. but either way.. i just hope they release it soon! and i do hope we don't

With regard to the retro/new concepts debate, I expect next US album to include a variety of genres but to be preminently retro. The album was announced long time ago to be composed by old and new songs in equal proportion (one new song could be 2DT).

Though I don't think JYP is going to abandon retro concepts all of a sudden, if breaking into mainstream is still his primary mission, the new songs could be chosen together with a selection from the past to form a complete showcase of our girls talents (this thinking of mine is according with the choice to pick Dave Stewart for producing some of the new songs, he's a different producer yet he comes from the fave musical period of JY). edit: to summarize, I expect some cool surprise, but not a revolution.

After reading 7even's honest account of the high difficulty to make it in the US market, I'm confirmed in my belief that Asian artists presenting contemporary mainstream material are still unjustly punished by an indifferent public. Retro songs have some advantage because they turn indifference into curiosity. You got to grab the average Joe's attention some way to in order tear down that wall

About their new songs, i do hope they will write their own lyrics with the help of great composers; cos yenny and yubin once said they want to write their own lyrics. But they also should stick with retro as well, cause that their back bone, but want a surprise revolution. I'm waiting for the Mckimchi to be more taste and delicious than Mcdouble xD, if they can pull that off, it will showcase their talent
