Snake Eyes Is Getting His Own ‘G.I. Joe’ Spinoff Movie!

BY STUART CONOVER ScienceFiction.com

Paramount Pictures still hasn’t opened up much on where they’re taking the G.I. Joe films but at least one spinoff movie has been confirmed featuring Snake Eyes! Evan Spiliotopoulos (‘Beauty and the Beast’) has been tapped to write the script and Brian Goldner will be producing the film.  Anyone else behind or in front of the camera has yet to be revealed.

Assuming this is set in the continuity of 2009’s ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ and 2013’s ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation,’ we’ll likely see Ray Park reprising the role of this covert ninja. However, without any solid details, this could even prove to be a stand-alone or soft reboot as the studio hasn’t been able to find quite the solid footing that they’d gained with the ‘Transformers’ franchise.

Snake Eyes is G.I. Joe’s head ninja. He doesn’t speak and depending on the origin story he either no longer is able to or has chosen not to. He is also often depicted as having had his face having been disfigured which is why he always wears a mask.

His arch enemy is Storm Shadow who was played by Lee Byung-hun in both of the previous films. Likely, a Snake Eyes-centric story would also include Cobra’s head ninja. The two were rivals from their time growing up together and whose fates seem to be entwined. Again, it isn’t clear if this will be a reboot or if Byung-hun may be returning.

If the film isn’t a full-on reboot, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see one or two small cameos from previous stars of the franchise.

Are you looking forward to a Snake Eyes movie? Do you think Paramount will use this as a stand-alone, a continuation of the current two films, or be a planned soft reboot of the franchise?

MJ posted pics of her in Jeju over the weekend. Seems that there was a wedding invitation for the Hunnie Couple. BH sent a video-message to the bride+groom, looks like one of them is also a celebrity, I think. Presumably MJ went to the same wedding ceremony, BH obviously could not make it due to the ongoing filming.

There's no English update regarding the award ceremony but CJ Entertainment today tweeted this image & mention of THE FORTRESS.

From Chunsa Awards wikipedia page, Dir. Hwang Dong Hyuk won the Best Director and Kim Jee Yong won a Technical Award for THE FORTRESS. No acting award for Lee Byung Hun, though.. next time, then.

Our thanks to the fans' highlight on twitter, Lee Byung Hun & his family attending Buddha's Birthday celebration (presumably on 5/22 as it's celebrated in South Korea). Nice to see JoonHoo with his parents & halmoni.. they really adore their precious little boy.

Looks like Appa's haircut (as Eugene Choi) is much shorter than JH's.

Not sure if it's a recent photo or a previous one. Looks like new.. however, there's not much description & no idea of the original source but here's a photo of BH and musical actor, Park Jae Hong. PJH recently made headlines being one of the heroes saving a trapped victim in a fire. (article)

The 15 best thrillers on Hulu to get your heart racing

The best thrillers on Hulu are just a click away.

Audra Schroeder The Daily Dot

The best movies on Hulu are just a click away, but sometimes you’re in the mood for something that doesn’t fit squarely in the comedy or drama genres. Something that gets under your skin and stays with you long after viewing. Hulu has an impressive selection of thrillers to keep you up at night. Here are the best thrillers on Hulu right now.

The best thrillers on Hulu

1) 10 Cloverfield Lane

2) Cloverfield (with Showtime add-on)

3) The Matrix

4) Borgman

5) 13 Assassins

6) Zodiac

7) I Saw the Devil

best thrillers hulu - i saw the devil

This South Korean thriller pits two of the country’s most well-known actors (Lee Byung-hun and Choi Min-sik ) as a cop and a serial killer, respectively. It’s a cat-and-mouse story, or maybe cat-and-cat is more appropriate, as Byung-hun relentlessly tracks and tortures the man (Min-sik) who killed his wife. The film is directed by maestro Kim Jee-woon, so you’re in good hands. I Saw the Devil is brutal and provocative, and if you have the stomach for it, it’s well worth a watch. —Eddie Strait

8) The Crow

9) Manhunter

10) Arrival

11) Children of Men (with Showtime add-on)

12) Mom and Dad

13) Let the Right One In

14) The Babadook

15) Bronson

These Are The 7 Most Expensive K-Dramas Ever Made
Here are the most expensive productions in the history of Korean dramas!

1BOON | Koreaboo

7. Are You Human Too? ($9.3 million USD)

Are You Human Too? is Korea’s first AI human romance drama that has invested a large sum of money on CG and special effects in the latter half of the series. The drama, which stars Seo Kang Joon and Gong Seung Yeon, is set to air its first episode on June 4, 2018.

6. Saimdang, Memoir of Colors ($18.5 million USD)

Saimdang, Memoir of Colors, which stars veteran actors Song Seung Heon and Lee Yeong Ae, follows the story of an art history lecturer and her journey in discovering the mysteries of a 16th-century artist through a diary. The large production cost was spent on the welfare of the actors and staff at the filming sites rather than the drama itself.

5. Iris 2 ($18.5 million USD)

This sequel to the hit series IRIS was filmed and broadcasted in 2013. A Korean drama with a production cost of $18.5 million USD was rare at the time and therefore, this series received particular attention.

The South Korean series Criminal Minds was a remake of the popular American tv series of the same name. The series starred Lee Joon Gi, Song Hyun Joo, Moon Chae Won, Yoo Sun, Lee Sun Bin, Go Yoon and Kim Yeong Cheol.

3. Kingdom ($18.5 million USD)

This upcoming series will be the second Korean Netflix original series and is expected to be aired sometime in 2018. The zombie thriller, which is set in the Joseon period, stars Ju Ji Hoon, Bae Doo Na, and Ryu Seung Ryong.

Have not seen any mention in English, just Korean media update for now.. but Lee Byung Hun may reunite with Dir. Woo Min Ho (INSIDE MEN) for a new movie, presumably a political thriller. Looks like the collaboration between the two will finally happen after LBH was unable to commit to Dir. Woo's 2018 movie (Drug King, upcoming release with Song Kang Ho)

Lee Byung Hun In Talks To Star In New Film

Source: Soompi by L. Kim

Lee-Byung-Hun.jpg

Actor Lee Byung Hun may be appearing in a new movie.

On June 5, his agency BH Entertainment stated, “[Lee Byung Hun] is positively considering ‘Heads of Namsan’ [literal translation].”

“Heads of Namsan” is based on a book of the same name. Lee Byung Hun has been offered the role of Kim Jae Gyu.

The movie will be directed by Woo Min Ho, the same director who led Lee Byung Hun’s movie “Inside Men.” If Lee Byung Hun chooses to accept the role, the two of them will be working together for the second time.

Lee Byung Hun is also starring in upcoming drama “Mr. Sunshine,” which will premiere sometime in July.
